As SurajPancholi was arrested for abetment of suicide, but Rabia Khan seeks re-investigation of Jiah’s case. Lawyer alleges that FBI has offered help to probe the case.
Even though the Mumbai Police has registered a case of abetment to suicide against AdityaPancholi’s son SurajPancholi but Rabia Khan, mother of Jiah Khan is not satisfied with the probe as FBI is likely to intervene in this case. The investigation agency will offer help to Rabia Khan in this hour of crisis. Rabiya alleged that despite possessing concrete evidence about Jiah’s murder police have converted the case into abetment of suicide.
Talking to AV, Advocate Dinesh Tiwari said, “The America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation is willing to help us for resolving this case. FBI has approached Rabiya Khan.”
A police official from Oshiwara Police Station said, “While conducting investigations we didn’t receive any clues to confirm that victim was murdered. Hence we booked Suraj under the case of abetment of suicide.”
Rabiya, nonetheless is not convinced with the findings of the probe and would approach the High Court to demand a re-probe into this matter. She had moved the Bombay High Court in October, 2013 alleging that her daughter was murdered and sought a CBI probe. Following this, the court had asked police to record her statement on those lines, collect material given by her and probe the murder angle.
Alleging shoddy investigation by the police to help Jiah’s boyfriend, Rabiya had said that the deceased actor may have been hanged after being killed in order to make it look like suicide.
Her petition in the High Court had cited reasons to support this theory. She had contended that a person who commits suicide would have eyes popping out and tongue protruding which was not the case in Jiah’s death. An injury was noticed on right side of her lips and a mark on her left arm as if someone had held her tightly.
Rabiya Khan said, “A tissue was found inside the nail of Jiah, police not acted on it as it was major evidence.”
Advocate Dinesh Tiwari further added, “We will seek assistance from the FBI if the Mumbai police doesn’t conduct a re-probe into this matter.”
A police officialon the condition anonymity said, “We have not received any circular from Jiah Khan’s family about seeking assistance from FBI in this case. We are performing our job efficiently and allegations made against us are baseless.”
Former world Billiards champion Michael Ferreira has filed for anticipatory bail in a local court in connection with the Rs 425-crore scam allegedly committed by a multi-level marketing firm QNet, in which he claimed to hold shares.
“Ferreira filed an anticipatory bail plea in the sessions court yesterday, which will come up for hearing later today,” his spokesperson Harish Kumar said here.
He also said that Ferreira has challenged the lookout notice issued by the Mumbai Police against him on January 2.
In the second week of December, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city police, probing the QNet scam, had served summons to 75-year-old Ferreira, directing him to appear before them to quiz him about his association with the scam-hit company. However, he had not turned up.
The EOW has arrested nine team leaders of the QNet so far for allegedly duping investors by offering to sell products like magnetic disks, herbal products and holiday schemes through fraudulent practices.
QNet has also been accused of using the banned binary pyramid business model for their multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes to entice investors. The accused have been charged with cheating and forgery under relevant sections of the Prize, Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978.
The lookout notice is a circular issued against a person when he/she is wanted by police either for questioning or for the purpose of arrest in any case.
It is circulated at all immigration checks at international borders (like International airports or sea ports) and as soon as the person is spotted, the authorities concerned are notified.
Ferreira, who was abroad on December 17, had said he would appear before the investigators as soon as he returns to India. He had also defended the controversial company.
Police said that they were not aware if the Padma Bhushan awardee was back in Mumbai or still abroad.
The winner of the World Amateur Billiards Championship had also described as “outrageous, malicious and untruthful” the allegations against him of defrauding people through QNet.
Dubbing AAP leaders as “symbols of arrogance”, NCP on Wednesday dared Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to write a single line letter to Congress requesting it to withdraw its support.
“If Kejriwal has the courage and the guts, he will write a single line letter to Congress to withdraw its support to his government,” NCP spokesman D P Tripathi told reporters mounting a scathing attack on the AAP leader and his colleagues.
Insisting that neither the Home Minister Sushil kumar Shinde nor the Centre committed any wrong while dealing with the demand of AAP, he said that the “only fault” was that of the Delhi police for its failure to arrest the “lawless Law Minister” of Delhi.
Dubbing AAP leaders as “symbols of arrogance”, who lack “decency, decorum and morality”, Tripathi said the Delhi Law Minister could have been immediately arrested under 11 counts including for obstruction of public servants.
Taking exception to the way Kejriwal has talked about Sushil Kumar Shinde, who is the Home Minister of India,Tripathi said that the CM in Delhi stands for “Chosen Madness” as he has “trampled upon justice, rule of law and the Constitution”.
Asked if Kejriwal becomes Prime Minister, he remarked it will be “Permanent Madness”. The NCP leader also said that Kejriwal’s statement– that two police officers have been sent on leave is the victory of people of Delhi– are “unimaginably foolish remarks”.
Tripathi claimed that there was a “fall in the credibility” of AAP within one month’s of coming to power in Delhi.
NCP on Wednesday was non-committal on whether SharadPawar will work in a UPA government headed by Rahul Gandhi but indicated all options of the party supremo becoming prime minister are open depending on “circumstances”.
“Till now the Congress has not declared its prime ministerial candidate. A leader heading the Congress campaign (does not mean PM candidate)… There is a difference between the two,” party spokesman D P Tripathi told reporters.
Asked what will Pawar do if Rahul is made the PM candidate, he said, “There are no ifs and buts… Let them do, then only we will react.”
However, he said it was for the Congress to elect its leader. On being asked whether the NCP was in favour of prime ministership for Pawar, Tripathi said the party does not have the numbers.
“We are a national party, but we are aware of our limitations… We are a small party with a very big leader. Parliamentary democracy is a numbers game,” he said.
“It all depends upon circumstances, options will always remain open,” he said in reply to questions on the issue. To a query whether the NCP was putting pressure on the Congress through such replies, Tripathi said, “If their pressures had worked, then there would have been lot of good (in the UPA).”
NCP is the second largest party in the Congress-led UPA and the two are also sharing power in Maharashtra since 1999 soon after Pawar parted ways with the Congress on the issue of foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi.
Tripathi also demanded that a meeting of the UPA Coordination Committee should be convened soon as a session of Parliament is nearing and plans to bring a lot of anti-graft bills are on the cards.
The NCP has already announced that Pawar will contest the RajyaSabha elections this time and will file his nomination in Mumbai on January 24.
Tripathi said Pawar is the only leader in the country who has successfully contested LokSabha and assembly polls since 1967.
Auto drivers backed by some agents and union members have threatened of agitation alleging that regional transport officials are deliberately creating hurdles while passing their vehicles during annual fitness checks. The Regional Transport Office (RTO), they alleged, arbitrarily cite norms and refuse to grant fitness certificates.
An RTO agent alleged that the officials deliberately cause problems while passing their vehicles. A delegation of some union members and agents accompanied by MLA RajanVichare met the Thane RTO recently to sort out the problems.
“We have been told to replace some parts of autos and that too at the last minute and they have also included some last minute norms about not having pressure horns and halogen headlights. We should be given some margin for doing so,” said an agent who was part of the meeting.
“We have been taking action against those vehicles that have installed pressure horns and bright headlights which is against the law. We are following all the rules prescribed in the books,” said a senior RTO official.

Long time ago, I used to work for one of the most famous spiritual channels of India, there I learned the ‘Making of Babas’. Most of the spiritual leaders of today are created by Spiritual Channels. All the aspirants with good oratory and little knowledge about religion have adopted this lucrative business as their way of life. The charm of the Babas is illusive and they are nothing but good social engineers. Some can perform the skills of hypnotism excellently. We Indians, stressful people, suffering from traumas, dissatisfactions, complaints, grievances, pain and grief are easily taken for a ride by them. A common man lives under one roof with his own family as they are living in a herd of enemies. No one is happy with their life, positivity has gone far away, and everyone wants to be rich. These are the problems where Babas enter in your life and play an important role to make you much poorer than you are. They will extract money from you and become rich.
Offerings to God is imbibed in our culture, offerings in the name of rituals is conditioned in the mindset of a common human being. The more you offer the more satisfaction you will get; this is what we have been taught since childhood. The practice of offering has been carried out since centuries then why to blame babas for that. The same principle is applicable to them too. The richest disciple is the most favourites of babas. In a way, it’s you who has created these babas and made their lifestyle lavishing. When we are sick, we need good medication and doctor. Instead of being practical and getting treated by medicines, we depend on our blind faith on the Babas to cure all ailments.
Since television explored new dimensions of showcasing divine epics, spirituality became the commercial aspect of it. All aspirants and famous Babas became poster heroes of these spiritual channels. It is a global scheme to make all spiritual believers of India to play with faith. Moreover, most of the Godmen are fraud. The most lucrative and profitable business of present time is “Spiritual Prostitution” where God and his existence is encroached by so called falsified souls.
Recently, the sexual assault case involving Asaram Bapu and his son has created lots of headlines. There are many victims of the duo. There are many witnesses too, but his lawyer says the self-styled godman was a victim of “international conspiracy” hatched to defame the saint community in India. Asaram has been targeted as part of this vicious conspiracy as he was a very popular saint of the country. There are many such Babas landed in police trap for all the evil that they did under the name of spirituality. No one knows the fact but ‘Babagiri’ has become a big industry.
Remember, the hallway into a fresh storm, Nirmal Baba has been accused by Andhshraddha Nirmoolan Samiti for cheating innocent people and exploiting them financially. In a statement released by Executive President of Andhshraddha Nirmoolan Samiti Umesh Chaubey and Harish Deshmukh, they said that supernatural and spiritual powers claimed by Nirmal Baba are absolutely false and should be considered void. Moreover, they also revealed that Nirmal Baba hires people to ask ‘fake’ questions and later telecast it on TV channels to gain propaganda mileage. Yes! This is possible because he pays heavy amount to TV Channels for his God-man acting and public appearances. Why TV channels promote these Babas? Every news channel has a slot for these spiritual exhibitors. Or in other words, these Babas are income source for TV channels. Promoting superstition has become fashion in TV industry.
Why Andhshraddha Nirmoolan Samiti suddenly started campaign against these babas? Why everyone is reacting on babas issue? Earlier, there were several complaints registered in local police stations of Lucknow and Raipur. Yogendra Shankar Shulka, ex-President, Ravishankar University, and also a complainant who planned a press conference and told media that Nirmal Baba is suggesting ‘non-sense’ remedies to the problems of innocent people like keeping bundle of notes in locker, eat samosa, wear expensive footwear, flaunt luxury purse, etc, and exploits them financially. Why Shankar Shukla voiced it today? The reason is, even Shankar Shukla wanted extra perks, and he can earn by exposing babas. Also, Nidhi, a junior-artist who has worked in many TV serials, claimed that Nirmal Baba shot many of his programmes in Film City, Noida, UP and surprisingly the people who asked questions were not the ‘genuine’ ones but ‘fake’ people hired by Nirmal Baba. According to Nidhi, she got Rs. 10,000 from Nirmal Baba for asking questions. Nidhi has come in front of TV Channel to talk against Baba because, he is facing bad times. Where were her codes of moral when she took money by acting in that scheme? She is also responsible as much Baba is for misguiding the public.
In another revelation, a report in a newspaper claims that Nirmaljit Singh Narula alias Nirmal Baba, who is under scanner for his immense wealth, has purchased a hotel using donations from his followers. The popularity of Nirmal Baba has faded after reports in the media about his wealth and assets. At present, the market value of the hotel is worth Rs. 35 crores. Former owner of the hotel, Ashwani Kapoor, revealed that the Godman wanted to open a chain of hotels. Nirmal Baba made payments for the hotel from his personal bank account number 15460001 02129694, which is in the name of Nirmaljeet Singh Narula. A report suggests that over Rs. 123 crores were deposited in the godman’s above-mentioned account between January 04 and April 13, 2012. According to a newspaper, during the same period Rs. 105.56 crores were also withdrawn from the same account and the balance as on April 13 was Rs 17.47 crores.
We should not blame Babas, it is the masses, which consider their blessings as magic and ready to pay any amount for this. Science tries to capture spiritual power, media tries to confirm these through camera, but they forget that still science has not created medicine for simple cough and cold, it was spiritual power that worked as remedy and its God man that installed the faith in common man. God and wisdom towards spiritual path has got diverted towards the commercial aspects of the world. Today, the same Nirmal Baba is again ruling the TV space and fooling people.
Worshipping has become bribery and faith has become the cash. Here, God’s power is saleable item and the godmen have become a pimp in spiritual prostitution. Then whom we should blame?
The Delhi Commission for Women on Wednesday summoned Law Minister Somnath Bharti and asked him to depose before it over allegations of manhandling some Ugandan women by a group led by him during a midnight raid in South Delhi.
“Five Ugandan women have recorded their complaints with the Commission alleging that they had been manhandled by the Minister and his associates on January 15 night,” DCW chairperson Barkha Singh said.
“We had asked him to appear before the Commission yesterday but he did not show up. We will be sending another summon to him through the SHO concerned. If he still does not appear, we shall write to the Lt Governor and to the Delhi Police Commissioner,” she added.
Singh said three of the Ugandan women have claimed that unknown persons had forcibly entered their house in the middle of the night asking for their passports and started searching their suitcases.
The women have alleged that they were made to take off their clothes while checking for the key,” Singh said.
“Two of the Ugandan women have stated that they were stopped while returning from work and forced to give urine samples while sitting in a taxi,” Singh said.
One of those African women yesterday recorded her statement in front of a magistrate and said that she had identified the Delhi Law Minister. She also claimed that he was the one who led the ‘midnight raid’ at her house last week.
“We were attacked on Wednesday night (January 15) by Indians who were led by Somnath Bharti. They are claiming we are blacks and we should leave their country. We were harassed, we were beaten, they had long sticks and they said we should leave their country or they’ll kill us one by one. We don’t know if being black is a crime,” she was quoted as telling reporters after recording her statement.
The woman claimed that she could identify Somnath Bharti because of his muffler when the latter appeared on TV the next day. “I identified Somnath Bharti because he came in the night then the next day I saw him on television. He was still putting on what I saw last night.”
The woman recorded her statement in camera under Sec 164 of CrPC. The statement has been now given to police in a sealed cover and will be opened only during the trial.
After the recording of her statement was completed, police listed the Ugandan national as a prosecution witness in the case. She will again testify in court during the trial over the alleged incident.
The court had ordered registration of an FIR upon a petition filed by the woman in question seeking a criminal case against the alleged offenders.
The raid was allegedly led by Somnath Bharti who accused the foreign nationals of being involved in a drug and prostitution racket.
Meanwhile, the AAP leadership today said that the party will act against Bharti if he is found guilty.
Speaking to reporters, AAP spokesperson Ashutosh said, “Politics is being played out against Bharti.”
He, however, assured that the party won’t take any action immediately. “If he is found guilty, then the party will take necessary actions,” Ashutosh said.
Days after the Congress rejected the demand from party workers to anoint Rahul Gandhi as party’s prime ministerial candidate, senior party leader P Chidambaram asserted on Wednesday that the Gandhi scion will get the top job if the Congress is called to form the government post general election.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the union finance minister said, “Likely outcome of national election is that no party will have clear majority. If Congress comes to power, I am pretty certain Rahul Gandhi will be the prime minister.”
“Whether Congress will be called to form the government will depend on the outcome of national election,” he added.
On the aggressive stance taken by Rahul Gandhi at the AICC meet held last week, Chidambaram said, “Rahul Gandhi had enough fire in the belly at the AICC session.”
Hitting out at the Bhartiya Janata Party and its PM candidate Narendra Modi, Chidambaram said, “BJP not represented by all sections, Narendra Modi has never fielded a Muslim candidate.”
Chidambaram, who was recently appointed as ‘senior’ spokesperson by his party, also used the occasion to target the BJP on its economic policies.
He said the BJP’s economic model is retrograde, regressive. “BJP is a party that has a blood-eyed economics model,” Chidambaram, adding, “BJP economics is Luddite economics.”
On India’s economic growth rate, the Finance Minister said that it is likely to grow at about 5 per cent in current fiscal and next fiscal we will cross 6 per cent.
Twelve accused in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case, which brought CPI(M) in Kerala under a cloud, were found guilty by a special court on Wednesday, but some of the party’s key local functionaries charged with conspiracy were acquitted.
Those let off by Special Court Judge R Narayana Pisharadi included CPI(M) district secretariat member P Mohanan, who allegedly conspired to murder RMP leader Chandrasekharan.
A total of 36 persons faced the trial. Twelve were convicted today and 24 acquitted.
The quantum of punishment is expected to be pronounced on Thursday after hearing the defence and prosecution.
Chandrasekharan, once a CPI(M) functionary from the party bastion Onchiyam near Vatakara in Kozhikode district, was hacked to death by the first seven accused on May 4, 2012.
The prosecution case was that the first seven accused were engaged by a section of local CPI(M) functionaries who plotted to kill Chandrasekharan, who challenged CPI(M) in the area by floating the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP).
The case had brought CPI(M) in the state under a cloud for long.
Not only did its political rivals blame the party for the brutal murder, but even Marxist veteran VS Achuthanandan often made statements casting suspicion on the role of the party behind the murder.
Reacting to the verdict, CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said it vindicated the party’s stand that it had no role in the murder and exposed the bid by the UDF government and a section of media to make political capital out of it.
“What has collapsed is a script based on complete lies to malign and haunt CPI(M). The party has been acquitted completely,” said Vijayan.
