No Ego, No Bar: Sena (UBT) Open to Patch-Up with Raj Thackeray’s MNS, Says Sanjay Raut 2

In a move that has set political circles abuzz, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said his party is willing to take a step forward—or even back—if it means doing what’s best for Maharashtra and its Marathi-speaking population. “There is no political ego in this,” Raut declared, as speculation intensified over a potential reunion between Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The statement follows a flurry of hints from both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray that they may be willing to bury past differences in the interest of the “Marathi manoos” and Mumbai’s identity—nearly two decades after their acrimonious split.

Raut emphasized that the Sena (UBT), led by Uddhav Thackeray, is committed to protecting Maharashtra’s interests and Marathi pride, even if it means setting aside political pride. His remarks echo recent sentiments expressed by Raj Thackeray, who has said that unity for the cause of the Marathi community should not be difficult.

Adding to the intrigue, Aaditya Thackeray said on Monday that his party is open to aligning with any group willing to work for Mumbai and Marathi people “with a clean heart and mind.” However, he clarified that talks of a tie-up remain speculative and largely confined to media chatter.

“Discussions are only in the media. Someone has made a call, and we’ve responded. Time will reveal the next steps,” Aaditya noted, leaving the door open while stressing that no formal talks are underway.

As political dynamics in Maharashtra shift, the possibility of a Sena (UBT)–MNS alliance could reshape regional power equations ahead of future electoral battles.

Rahul Gandhi Dares EC on Voter Roll Transparency, Demands Exact Date for Data Release 4

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday welcomed the Election Commission’s (EC) reported decision to share electoral-roll data for Haryana and Maharashtra as “a good first step,” but demanded that the poll body announce a clear timeline for providing the information in a digital, machine-readable format.

Gandhi posted a screenshot of a media report on X, which claimed that the EC had agreed to share voter roll data for the two states spanning from 2009 to 2024. The report follows an assurance allegedly given by the EC to the Delhi High Court earlier this year. However, there has been no official confirmation from the EC regarding the move.

“Good first step taken by EC to hand over voter rolls,” Gandhi posted. “Can the EC please announce the exact date by which this data will be handed over in a digital, machine-readable format?”

The Congress MP’s remarks come in the wake of escalating friction between his party and the Election Commission. After Gandhi wrote an article in The Indian Express alleging large-scale rigging in the 2023 Maharashtra Assembly elections and hinting at similar manipulation in future polls where the BJP risks losing, the EC sources responded that they would only address the matter if Gandhi writes directly to the Commission in his capacity as Leader of Opposition.

Sources also highlighted that the EC had invited all six national parties for individual meetings as part of its outreach efforts. While the other five parties participated, the Congress reportedly cancelled its scheduled May 15 meeting.

Doubling down, Gandhi hit back at the EC on Saturday, stating that silence would not salvage the poll body’s credibility and only transparency could. His article accused the EC of facilitating “match-fixing” in Maharashtra and warned that the same could occur in upcoming elections, including in Bihar.

With public trust in electoral integrity becoming an increasingly contentious issue, Gandhi’s challenge puts further pressure on the Election Commission to publicly clarify its stance and procedures.

Thane Train Tragedy: 4 Dead, 6 Injured After Falling from Moving Train 6

In a tragic start to the week, four passengers lost their lives and six others sustained injuries after falling from a moving train in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Monday morning. The incident occurred between Diva and Kopar railway stations as the overcrowded local train was heading towards Kasara during peak hours.

According to railway police officials, the train was packed with commuters, many of whom were standing at the doors. At least ten passengers reportedly fell off while the train was in motion. A guard aboard another train traveling on the same route noticed the injured people lying near the tracks and promptly alerted railway authorities.

Emergency teams rushed the injured to a civic-run hospital in Kalwa, where four passengers, all between 30 to 35 years of age, were declared dead on arrival.

Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, confirmed that the control room was informed around 9:30 a.m. about injured passengers spotted alongside the tracks. While the exact train from which the victims fell has not yet been confirmed, investigations are underway.

The incident has triggered strong reactions from political leaders. Shiv Sena MP from Thane, Naresh Mhaske, called for a detailed probe into the tragedy, raising critical questions: “Was it overcrowding, a scuffle, or negligence? The administration needs to be vigilant,” he told a local news channel.

Adding to the outcry, Ambadas Danve, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, described the accident as “heartbreaking and serious” in a post on X. He noted the unusual nature of the incident, pointing out that so many people suddenly falling from what may have been the Pushpak Express raises deeper concerns about railway safety protocols.

As families mourn the victims, the incident underscores the persistent issue of overcrowding and the urgent need for safer conditions in Mumbai’s suburban railway network.

Honeymoon Horror: Wife Sonam Plots Husband's Murder in Meghalaya, Police Say 8

A chilling twist unfolded in Meghalaya’s scenic hills when what appeared to be a romantic honeymoon turned into a premeditated murder, with police revealing that Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed by assailants hired by his own wife. Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang confirmed on Monday that Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife, surrendered at a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, days after the victim’s body was discovered in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls on June 2.

The couple had gone missing on May 23 while visiting the Sohra region. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, and following overnight raids, three accused were apprehended—one from UP and two from Indore. The arrested men reportedly confessed that Sonam had orchestrated the murder. Authorities say the operation is still ongoing to nab more individuals involved.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma praised the police for swiftly cracking the case that stunned the nation. “Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved in the Raja murder case,” he posted on X, commending the arrest of the accused and Sonam’s surrender.

PTI had earlier reported that local guide Albert Pde saw the couple accompanied by three unfamiliar men on May 23 around 10 a.m., ascending over 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat. He remembered them from the day before when they declined his guiding services in favor of another local.

Suspicion deepened after Raja’s body was recovered without his gold ring and chain. A bloodstained machete was later found near the site, and a raincoat resembling one worn by the couple was recovered from Mawkma village. These discoveries, along with the abandoned scooter found on May 24, painted a grim picture of a meticulously planned murder.

Sonam’s father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, however, alleged negligence on the part of Meghalaya Police and demanded a CBI probe, insisting that his daughter was abducted and still held captive. Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav echoed this concern and formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI inquiry.

The couple had married on May 11 and left for Meghalaya on May 20. They reached Mawlakhiat on May 22, but by the next day, Raja had vanished, and now, authorities claim, the woman meant to be his life partner is behind his death.

Goa CM Overrules Health Minister's Public Outburst and Suspension of Senior Doctor 10

In a dramatic twist to a controversy that sparked outrage across Goa’s medical and political circles, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday overruled Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s decision to suspend a senior doctor from the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). This came after Rane publicly berated Chief Medical Officer Dr Rudresh Kuttikar during a surprise visit and ordered his suspension — an act that was captured on video and went viral, triggering immediate backlash.

Facing severe criticism from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), opposition parties including Congress, AAP, and the Revolutionary Goans Party, and sections of the public, the chief minister moved swiftly to contain the fallout. He held a meeting with Rane in Panaji and later issued a statement assuring that Dr Kuttikar would not be suspended without a fair inquiry.

Taking to X, CM Sawant reaffirmed support for Goa’s medical professionals, saying, “Dr Rudresh Kuttikar will not be suspended. We value the tireless efforts of our doctors who continue to save lives every day.”

The incident unfolded on Saturday when Rane, responding to a phone complaint, stormed into GMCH’s casualty ward and confronted Dr Kuttikar over alleged mistreatment of a patient. In the video, Rane can be heard scolding the doctor, saying, “You have to behave properly with patients. I generally don’t lose my cool, but this cannot be tolerated,” before instructing GMCH superintendent Dr Patil to replace Kuttikar and initiate suspension proceedings.

The IMA called the act “unacceptable,” demanding immediate revocation of the suspension and a fair hearing. Opposition leaders slammed Rane’s conduct as “arrogant” and unbecoming of a minister.

Under intense pressure, Rane admitted he “overreacted,” acknowledging his tone was inappropriate, but stopped short of an apology. “I accept that my words could have been more measured. But I will not apologise for standing up for a patient denied care,” he said, while reiterating that doctors must balance dedication with compassion.

The GMCH, a 1,000-bed state-run hospital in Bambolim, serves patients from Goa and neighbouring parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The incident has reignited debates about political overreach in public institutions, ministerial conduct, and the rights of medical professionals.

The Cruel Monsoon of Maharashtra: A Farmer's Struggle, A Government's Slumber 12

Another year, another flood of promises. As unseasonal rains once again devastate Maharashtra’s farmlands, one cannot help but feel a familiar ache — the grief of the farmers and the apathy of the state machinery. From Marathwada to Vidarbha, from Udgir to Washim, the skies weep, and with them, so do the forgotten sons of the soil.

In the recent spell of early monsoon rains, harvested crops worth lakhs have been reduced to waste. Farmers, who toiled under the scorching sun for months, watched helplessly as their hard-earned produce drowned in muddy water. Videos went viral — like that of Gaurav Panwar in Washim, frantically trying to save his peanuts from the downpour with his bare hands. The clip struck a chord with the nation, but did it jolt the government into action? Barely.

Yes, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has once again assured compensation. And CM Eknath Shinde too did a symbolic tour of affected farms in Latur, promising that the rigid NDRF norms would be “kept aside” and “maximum help” would be extended. But isn’t that what we hear every single year? Promises in the rain, drowned in delay and paperwork.

The government has clarified that the compensation will be based on norms framed in March 2023 and notified in January 2024. In other words, the system remains the same — sluggish, insensitive, and disconnected from ground reality. A token ₹49 crore was disbursed for temporary relief — barely enough to bandage the wounds of lakhs of farmers across multiple districts. The truth is: the magnitude of loss far outweighs the empathy on display.

Even fishermen were not spared. Their dried fish stock got soaked and destroyed. CM Fadnavis has instructed officials to submit a proposal for compensation. Another file, another delay.

While farmers wait for panchnamas and dangle in hope, they are also expected to fill out complicated online forms under the E-crop system. As Aaditya Thackeray rightly remarked, “Farmers will soon need coaching classes to claim what is rightfully theirs.” It’s a bitter irony — the hands that grow food for millions are expected to navigate digital portals with poor connectivity and even poorer literacy support. No wonder, many farmers feel more victimized by bureaucracy than by nature.

And as if this wasn’t enough, politics continues to muddy the waters. While the present government pats its own back for announcing compensation, questions are being raised: what about timely crop insurance payouts? What about irrigation planning? What about weather-based forecasting and ground-level preparedness? The Opposition accuses the Mahayuti of grandstanding, pointing out that real help was seen more during Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure than now — and perhaps not without reason.

Every year, rains wash away the crops, and with them, a piece of the farmer’s soul. What’s tragic is not just the monsoon, but the monotony of apathy — the same announcements, the same helicopter visits, the same photo ops, and then… silence.

The fate of the farmer in Maharashtra is not just unfortunate — it is a reflection of a governance model that wakes up only after tragedy strikes. Instead of proactive disaster management, we get reactive sympathy. Instead of real-time relief, we get hollow assurances.

Maharashtra’s farmers don’t need another press conference. They need action. They don’t need grand speeches. They need dignity, protection, and timely support. If agriculture is truly the backbone of India, then it’s time we stop watching it break, year after year.

Until then, the farmer stands in his field — drenched not just in rain, but in betrayal.

India Slams Terror Links in Berlin: All-Party Delegation Takes Pakistan Head-On on Global Stage 14

In a bold diplomatic move, an all-party parliamentary delegation from India, led by senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, arrived in Germany on Thursday to underscore the nation’s firm zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and to expose Pakistan’s continued links to terror networks. The delegation, comprising leaders from across the political spectrum, landed in Berlin after a stopover in Belgium.

Indian Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte, welcomed the nine-member team and held a briefing session highlighting the evolving India-Germany strategic partnership and the scope for deeper collaboration in trade, defence, science and technology, and mobility.

The Embassy of India in Berlin, in a post on X, confirmed, “Amb @AjitVGupte briefed the All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Hon’ble MP Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, on arrival in Berlin.” It added that discussions focused not only on bilateral ties but also on India’s strong global messaging against terrorism.

The delegation includes prominent parliamentarians like Daggubati Purandeswari, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Amar Singh, Samik Bhattacharya, M Thambidurai, M J Akbar, and former diplomat Pankaj Saran. The team is part of India’s broader international effort, which involves dispatching seven multi-party delegations to 33 global capitals to expose Pakistan’s terror machinery and emphasize India’s resolve in countering it.

This international outreach follows heightened Indo-Pak tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack. In retaliation, India launched targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Pakistan responded with attempted attacks on Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10, which were met with strong countermeasures from India.

The escalating hostilities were de-escalated on May 10 following military-to-military talks between the directors general of operations from both sides. However, India’s global diplomatic offensive continues, making it clear that it will not allow terrorism to go unchallenged, especially when backed by state actors.

Elon Musk Threatens to Ground Dragon Capsule Amid Trump’s Fury Over SpaceX Contracts

Elon Musk Threatens to Ground Dragon Capsule Amid Trump's Fury Over SpaceX Contracts 16

The high-stakes feud between Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump escalated dramatically on Thursday after Musk declared SpaceX would begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately. The announcement, posted on Musk’s platform X (formerly Twitter), followed Trump’s statement on Truth Social threatening to cancel government contracts awarded to Musk’s companies to save “billions and billions of dollars.”

Musk’s swift and terse reaction has thrown a spotlight on the fragile relationship between the billionaire tech mogul and the former president, raising concerns about the future of US space missions. Dragon, developed with substantial NASA funding, is currently the only American vehicle capable of transporting astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS).

Since 2020, NASA has relied heavily on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon to ferry astronauts after retiring the Space Shuttle and ending dependence on Russia’s Soyuz. The spacecraft’s reliability was proven yet again earlier this year when Boeing’s Starliner malfunctioned, forcing two NASA astronauts to return to Earth aboard a SpaceX capsule. With Boeing’s program still grounded and awaiting another test flight, Crew Dragon remains the backbone of US manned spaceflight.

Besides government missions, Dragon also carries out commercial flights, including those contracted by Axiom Space, and regularly transports cargo to the ISS under NASA’s resupply contract. If Musk proceeds with his decommissioning threat, NASA’s only fallback would be Russia’s Soyuz—an arrangement the US had been moving away from since 2020.

SpaceX’s role in national space strategy extends beyond Dragon. The company holds critical NASA and Pentagon contracts for satellite launches and was recently awarded the responsibility of de-orbiting the ISS. Furthermore, SpaceX’s Starship, currently in testing, is slated to land astronauts on the Moon under NASA’s Artemis mission, though its latest test flight ended in failure.

NASA has not yet issued a public response to Musk’s announcement. However, given its deep operational and financial dependence on SpaceX, any halt to the Dragon program could deal a severe blow to America’s space agenda. Whether Musk’s threat materializes or serves as a tactical response to Trump’s rhetoric remains uncertain—but the implications could be historic.

PM Modi Flags Off History: World's Tallest Railway Bridge Over Chenab Now Open 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a monumental achievement in Indian infrastructure. Built at a cost of ₹1,486 crore over a span of more than eight years, the iconic bridge stands taller than the Eiffel Tower and is being hailed as a marvel of modern engineering.

Following the Chenab bridge inauguration, the Prime Minister also launched India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge built across the Anji river. Holding the tricolour, Modi walked along the newly inaugurated Chenab bridge, symbolizing a new chapter in rail connectivity to the Himalayan region.

Prior to the inauguration, PM Modi arrived at the site traveling in a rail engine coach, underscoring the importance of the occasion. He was accompanied by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

These landmark projects are expected to significantly enhance connectivity in the Union Territory, especially the remote and mountainous regions, while also boosting tourism, trade, and strategic mobility.

Muck, Money & Manipulation: ED Raids Mumbai in Explosive Mithi River Desilting Scam 20

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched extensive searches across Mumbai on Friday in connection with the sensational Mithi River desilting scam, unearthing a massive network of alleged corruption, forged contracts, and financial fraud involving civic officials and private contractors.

The crackdown follows the granting of bail to Jay Joshi, a representative of Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd, who had earlier been arrested in the same case. While a magistrate court had denied his bail plea citing the probe’s early stage, a Mumbai sessions court granted it on Thursday, though the detailed order is awaited.

The ED’s investigation aligns with the findings of the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW), which uncovered a deeper conspiracy allegedly masterminded by BMC engineer Prashant Ramugade. Authorities claim Ramugade operated a shadow partnership with contractor Bhupendra Purohit, who owns Group One Solutions—the firm that bagged the river-cleaning machinery maintenance contract.

To dodge scrutiny, Ramugade allegedly used his associate Sarika Kamdar as a proxy partner, while Purohit named his wife Kiran in official documents. Behind the scenes, however, Ramugade and Purohit were allegedly pulling the strings, diverting public funds for private gain.

Investigators discovered that instead of desilting the river, dump trucks were misused to transport construction debris from private real estate sites. To fake legitimacy, a thin layer of river sludge was added atop the debris before submitting inflated and fraudulent bills to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The rot didn’t stop there. Ramugade reportedly manipulated tender conditions to repeatedly award contracts to four firms linked to Purohit—Tridev, Tanisha, MB Brothers, and DB—creating a closed loop of favoritism and corruption.

The ED is now following the money trail to identify broader financial misconduct involving multiple layers of civic bureaucracy and private contractors. As the probe deepens, the Mithi River scam is quickly becoming one of Mumbai’s most disgraceful examples of public fund misappropriation under the guise of environmental restoration.
