Will Kamal Haasan become the CM of Tamil Nadu one day?

Kamal Haasan Election Campaign

Apart from being a very good actor, a decent writer-director, a concerned human being, a knowledgeable man, Kamal Haasan is also is an activist. Though he has never held an administrative position so far, he can compensate for it with zeal and he is a keen learner. His intent is sincere and his will is to do good for the people of Tamil Nadu.

I am sure that he has a better vision for Tamil Nadu than many seasoned politicians and definitely much better than Thalaivars. Kamal has always projected himself as a one-man army, working with head-strong individuals, party men, cabinet ministers, and the likes would be definitely a challenge for him.

Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has signed a memorandum of understanding with actor Sarathkumar’s All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) and SRM group founder TR Pachamuthu’s Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK).

Hassan’s party, in its debut assembly polls, will be contesting from 154 seats. Of the remaining 80 constituencies, both AISMK and IJK will be contesting on 40 seats each.

The statement issued by MNM reads that the parties have come together to bring about an overall change in Tamil Nadu, but elections will decide the fate of an individual and above all its survival. With the common agenda of restoring the pride and glory of Tamil Nadu, they have decided to embark on a long-lasting journey together.

Their press statement says “The primary goal of this platform is to contest the upcoming assembly elections with a promise for change and emerge victorious to form the government. AISMK and IJK leaders met Haasan in February and hoped that MNM would enter into a poll-pact with them.

During his party’s sixth general council meet, Sarathkumar openly endorsed Haasan as their chief ministerial candidate. Though the allies issued statements confirming that they have struck an alliance with MNM, Haasan kept his cards close to his chest. Even until Sunday, he did not confirm his alliance partners. To become a CM candidate, he has to represent a party that hasn’t won. That rules out DMK, ADMK, and PMK.

Congress and BJP don’t have strong CM candidates, but both the parties are not that strong enough in Tamil Nadu. Even though Kamal’s presence might improve their fortunes, I don’t think Kamal has enough power to pull them through to the finish line. And more importantly, I don’t think Kamal will pick either of the parties to go in the alliance. Above all, any party with Tamil nationalist ideologies will not want him. A new party would be an option. However, he might need a strong ally, maybe the DMK. But if the alliance wins, will he get to be a CM? That is a big doubt.

To become CM, one needs to be the head of the largest party in the Assembly, unless and until his party proves themselves like the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. AAP did not go in alliance with any political party yet they changed the fate of the Delhi elections.

Till now Kamal has been publishing tweets about select incidents. He needs to expand this to get more acceptance. Right now, the view is that he is someone with no political responsibility and uses his popularity to pass his opinions. While there is nothing wrong with it, this approach may not lead to any political dividend. People should feel that he has good ideas about governance and will do better for TN.

No doubt that Hassan and his party will pull crowds and can influence people. He can be suitably rewarded by DMK too, if they end up on the winning side, maybe he can contest in some assembly seat or get some party position.

At this juncture politics of Tamil Nadu is unpredictable, people are in very much confusion and choices are many. The votes are going to get divided.

No one can say for sure if a particular person will become CM or not. How many of us knew the name “Edappadi Pazhanisamy” till he became CM. On the other hand, M.K. Stalin has been on the “Waitlist” for several elections but he could not reach to power.

The political climate in Tamil Nadu may not be sure for Kamal. The BPL people in Tamil Nadu feel happy with every election. Election year is a bonus year for them. Both the Dravidian parties have sensed the mood of the people. They engage people in a different way, and they have many committed voters too. Kamal’s resource factor and mind-set too are different from these two parties. Let Kamal ascertain the mood of the people, by organizing public meetings. Holding office is different from public interaction. He should confirm that he too can take the people with him. So far, he has not tested the people’s support for him. Media hype is not people’s support. Many of the people are influenced by caste and religion, and most of the voting patterns were also such. Support for Kamal may not come from these sectors.

Kamal Haasan – Darkhorse of Tamil Nadu politics; his party MKM to contest on 154 seats

kamal haasan, hassan, kamal hassan, tamil nadu, mkm, touch, rajnikanth, stalin, mk stalinSince Actor Rajinikanth, decided to opt-out of politics, citing health concerns. Kamal Haasan has bright chances of winning a good number of seats. His party to fight in 154 seats in Tamil Nadu, rest for 2 allies. Makkal Needhi Maiam (MKM) announced contesting 154 out of 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The party left the remaining 80 seats for its two alliance partners – All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi and Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi – that will contest on 40 seats each.

A document released by the Makkal Needhi Maiam party reads, “The parties have committed to the common goal of transforming Tamil Nadu by fulfilling the long-pending aspirations of the people. With the common agenda of restoring the pride and glory of Tamil Nadu, they have decided to embark on a long-lasting journey together.”

J Vyankatesha, political banner supplier for Chennai to Afternoon Voice, “Kamal has his personal baggage with him that might work against him. His not-so-appealing-to-all personal life, his faith or lack of one, his peculiar nature, his closeness to DMK, like factors, may hamper his chances to thorn but he will reasonably pull the seats. Some of these beleaguered Sivaji Ganesan when he put himself into electoral politics. While I don’t see Kamal losing as Sivaji Ganesan did, I fear he might not have the power to win enough to get to the throne. Dynamics of the election will matter a lot.”

The MNM had secured around 4 percent votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, with its share going as high as 10 percent in the urban pockets. Dr. R Mahendran, MNM vice-president and its candidate from Coimbatore, had clocked 1.45 lakh votes or 11.6 percent of the total vote share of the constituency.

The party has adopted a unique ticket distribution system where it has launched an online system for people to apply as candidates followed by the interviews of the shortlisted ones to be finally fielded in the election. The MNM is taking up on issues like corruption, jobs, developing villages, and people-friendly e-governance as key issues. It has promised salaries to homemakers and free computers with internet at all homes as a public resource to help people access government schemes easily.

Ever since OPS’s magnificent acting performance at the Marina after Jayalalitha passed, Kamal Haasan has actively voiced his opinion of the pathetic state of affairs in Tamil Nadu politics. He took it up a notch after Sasikala’s arrest and the EPS-OPS debacle ensued, at times delivering killer blows. He has been active on social media and was quite fortunate (or calculative) the Big boss came around now.

Meta Swaminathan, political posters designer in Chennai said, “Politics is not conducting a Bus that one bell rings and you get down or get in. I was happy when Rajnikanth realized this, he would have abandoned the bus if he has to face challenges. Whereas Kamal Hassan has one advantage, he has a strong voice and social media presence for his political stand. He might sail through the challenges but becoming CM is not possible in the first inning.”

Operation Batla House: Decades-old encounter of Delhi

The Batla House encounter not only hit the headlines but also got political mileage to the Movie screen. This much-hyped encounter took place after a seven-member Delhi Police team led by Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma in the Special Cell of Delhi police, stumbled upon IM commander Atif Amin and his comrades in their rented address at L-18, Batla House in the morning of 19 September 2008.

The team had received information that a suspected person wanted in connection with the serial bomb blasts in Delhi was hiding in a flat in the Batla House area of Jamia Nagar. Police laid a trap and somehow reached four-storied and stormed the flat led by a heavy exchange of fire. Sharma received the first burst of fire from the terrorists holed up inside. After the ensuing exchange of fire two suspected terrorists, Atif Amin and Mohammad Sajid were killed, two other suspects Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan were arrested, while one escaped. Later on its learned that Mohammad Sajid was not killed and he surfaced in Syria as an ISIS recruiter.

This encounter led to the arrest of a number of local people, leading to widespread allegations and protests by political parties, civil society groups, and activists, especially teachers and students of the Jamia Millia Islamia University.

Numerous political organizations like Rashtriya Ulama Council brought a full train of protestors from Azamgarh to Jantar Mantar, Delhi demanding an independent Judicial Enquiry whereas the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) demanded a judicial inquiry into the encounter, in the Parliament.

Afterward, on the Delhi High Court’s directive on 21 May 2009, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in its 22 July report cleared the police of any violations of rights. Public speculation and debate however continued.

The encounter took place a week after five serial blasts on 13 September 2008 that hit Delhi in which at least 30 people were killed and over 100 injured. The killing of Atif Amin, who was the chief bomber of the Indian Mujahideen, had dealt a severe blow to the group, which earlier was blamed for terror attacks between 2007 and 2009, in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and Faizabad, according to investigating agencies.

On the second anniversary of the encounter, a shooting took place at the gate of historic Jama Masjid, Delhi, in which two foreign tourists were injured, apart from that a car bomb with a failed timer was also found in the surrounding area. The police had filed the charge sheet against Shahzad, Ariz Khan Atif Ameen, and Mohammed Sajid on 28 April 2010, accusing them of killing Inspector Sharma.

On 15 February 2011, Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar framed charges against accused Shahzad Ahmed alias Pappu for the offences of murder (Section 302), attempt to murder (Section 307), section 333 (causing hurt to public servant), 353 (assault to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of his public functions) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code, besides section 27 of the Arms Act for his role in the ‘encounter’.

On 25 Jul 2013, the Saket sessions court in its judgment convicted one of the suspects, Shahzad Ahmad, for the murder of police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and attempted murder of Head Constables Balwant Singh and Rajbir Singh. After the verdict, Shahzad’s defense counsel Satish Tamta accused that the court had proposed its own theory while arriving at the conclusion that Shahzad had escaped after shooting at police officers.

Finally, the court came to the conclusion after 70 witnesses, including six eyewitnesses of the raiding team of the Delhi police special cell. On 28 August 2013, Yasin Bhatkal, the Chief of Indian Mujahideen was arrested from India-Nepal Border. Yasin had allegedly fled the Batla House, minutes before the encounter took place. After the incident accusations were raised against the Police by various other politicians, media, and civil society outfits for carrying out an encounter.

Upon the plea filed by “Act Now for Harmony and Democracy”, the Delhi High Court on 21 May 2009 asked the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to enquire into the police version of the encounter and submit its report incomplete within two months. Subsequently, on 22 July, NHRC after its investigations, in a 30-page report submitted its report which gave a clean chit to Delhi Police in the case.

The investigation ruled out the conspiracy theory that it was “inter-departmental enmity” which might have led to the death of Inspector M C Sharma on the basis of post-mortem report that he had a gunshot wound on the “hypochondriac region of the abdomen”, which ruled out an attack from behind.

Sharma was a much-decorated police officer and had won seven gallantry medals including the President of India’s Medal in 2009. He was posthumously awarded India’s highest peacetime military decoration, the Ashoka Chakra on 26 January 2009. Shahzad’s sister said that her brother was falsely implicated, and vowed to fight for justice by appealing to the Supreme Court.

Finally, the court made the decision in favour of the Delhi police, and all the accused got convicted one by one.

Batla House shootout: Ariz Khan convicted by local court

After decades of trials, Delhi court on Monday held Ariz Khan responsible for killing inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, along with his co-conspirator, in the Batla House encounter which took place in 2008 at Delhi. Ariz Khan was arrested by Delhi Special Cell in February 2018 after being on the run for 10 years.

He has been convicted under sections 302, 307, 333, and 353 (which deal with assault or grievous hurt to a public servant in the discharge of his duty), 186 (which has provisions of punishment for people who prevent a public servant from discharging their duties), 34 and 174A of the Indian penal Code (IPC) as well as Section 27 of the Arms Act (which provides for a jail sentence to those who are found in possession of arms illegally).

The encounter took place only after a seven-member Delhi Police team led by Mohan Chand Sharma Inspector in the Special Cell of Delhi police, stumbled upon IM commander Atif Amin and his companions in their rented address at L-18, Batla House on 19 September 2008 morning. The team had received unambiguous information that a suspected person wanted in connection with the serial bomb blasts in Delhi was hiding in a flat in the Batla House area of Jamia Nagar.

Upon reaching the four-storied house the police’s attempt to storm the flat on the second floor at around 10:30 AM (IST) led to a heavy exchange of fire. Sharma received the first explosion of fire from the terrorists holed up inside. In this incident, Sharma lost his life while two other police officers were injured.

In 2013, Shazad Ahmed, who, too, had escaped the Batla House shootout with Khan, was convicted and sentenced. Two of their accomplices, Atif Amin and Mohammed Saif were killed in the incident, while one managed to escape.

Sanjay Raut – One strong front face of Shiv Sena

sanjay raut, sanjay, raut, shiv sena, sena, uddhav thackeray, saamana, shiv, ss, mp sanjay raut, mva, maha vikas aghadi

An average man with an extraordinary journey, he has his weaknesses and strengths. He makes controversies; he is always vocal when it comes to his government and state affairs. You might like him, hate him, criticize him, but you cannot ignore him because he has his sturdy presence in Maharashtra. If you ask any outsider to name the top ten known names of Maharashtra politics, I am sure one of them would be Sanjay Raut.

Opposition gets rattled with his writing; he hits where it hurts the most. This always gets translated as Sanjay Raut is a cunning person or a spoiler; the perception is created by some of his opponents and their supporting media houses. Or in other words, when it comes to Shiv Sena and their opponents, it’s always Samna Vs the entire mainstream media.

He is not only a strategist but a lifebuoy for his party and people. Raut has a better understanding of the Thackeray family and Shiv Sena. He is very loyal to his party’s leadership but yet has his own voice. He is considered to be very close to the core decision-making process of his party. He is also hated by most of his party men because of his largest presence above all of them.

His firebrand and provocative statements will remind you of Balasaheb’s peculiar style of humour. With time he has softened his aggression towards religious politics, again which does not decipher that he has compromised his approach towards Hindutva. He is currently a member of the Upper house of Rajya Sabha and not directly elected by the general public. Raut has never taken any position in Government or cabinet but gave his hundred percent towards the decision-making. He is too artful, and always be pungent in his advice.

There were rumours that Sanjay Raut was the reason for withdrawing the support to BJP. Some say it’s he who has diminished the arrogance of BJP and kept them in their size. He is one of those brains behind the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance that has managed to deprive the BJP from power.

Raut is an uncompromising journalist and Executive editor of the Marathi newspaper – Saamna, which is Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece. He has been an active Shiv Sainik since Balasaheb Thackeray’s time. Raut worked very hard to reach here.

Balasaheb always trusted in his ability to write and express. He has not only guarded the stand of his party but always worked in its interest. He is the one who is always at the receiving end for all odds and evens. Post Balasaheb era, he stood with Uddhav Thackeray in every decision making.

Journalism and politics, this lethal combination is an epic of his personality. There was an era when all the prime-time debates and headlines were attributed to Samna edits. His writing speaks volumes, he is mischievously humorous and strong-willed, maybe this is the reason he has earned more trolls than the fans.

He is a music lover, plays harmonium, and enjoys Cinema and movie making. He has his utmost gentle side as a family man. His wife came under the scanner of Enforcement Directorial (ED) but so far no involvement of his is proven. His biggest strength is his simple individual background.

Once upon a time, Shiv Sena was known for violence, the party was known for threatening people. Gradually it’s the Samna edits and conduct of their leaders that has cleared the air on this set discernment. Shiv Sainiks extended a hand in cooperation, they earned the confidence of the people, they never displayed their power over the common public rather they serve them, CM Uddhav Thackeray is a perfect example of humility, which gathers loyalists on the basis of exclusive rights of Maharashtrians to live and work in Maharashtra also believing in the inclusive, cosmopolitan nature of Mumbai. Shiv Sena has today become the beloved of Maharashtra, as it breaks away from its old ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party. Businessmen to back-office employees, all are breathing. To my surprise, Uddhav (whom I never imagined in active politics) proved himself the best CM of Maharashtra by keeping up his demure against all unwanted attacks.

Unfortunately, whatever Sanjay Raut has spoken in the recent past was twisted by mainstream and social media to their advantage, some for political gains and others for TRP. Today, most of the Indian Media houses are sold out. They are busy creating perception and changing the narrative. Post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, Sanjay Raut was a one-man army of Sena to render befitted replies to opponents and Supari journalists. I am not saying, Raut was always right, but I am sure he was not always wrong either.

His day begins with his hard-hitting and annoying editorials (for opponents). Soon after he gets surrounded by the journalists, thereafter the entire day he rules news spaces as if there is no other topic in our country. Or you will suddenly realize that he has tweeted something that shook social media and all the army of IT cells are irked. He never sits calm and does not allow his opponents to sit idle. He makes sure he has empowered everyone including media, social media, and their opponents. He just sparks the debate and gets back to his work making sure that they talk about him for the rest of the day. He brilliantly engages people and the news space. These days, Sanjay Raut is all over the place and is persistent too.

This is my personal observation; being Maharashtrian, having lived in Girgaon Mumbai for most of my life, grew up seeing Shiv Sean and its leader at different times.

The mysterious death of Hiren Mansukh; creates unrest in state politics, blame game intensified

hiren mansukh, antilia, mukesh ambani, sachin vaze, sachin, mumbai police, anil deskhmukh, shiv sena, devendra fadnavis, hiren, mansukhMaharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh handed over Hiren Mansukh’s death probe from Mumbai Crime Branch to the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). In between, BJP requested the Centre to have the National Investigation Agency (NIA) take over the inquiry, mentioning a possible terror angle. Opposition leader Narayan Rane has also demanded President’s Rule in the state given the reason of poor law and order.

In the meantime, BJP leader Ashish Shelar criticized and questioned the Shiv Sena-led government about the encounter specialist’s presence at the post-mortem of Mansukh. He also claimed that the ATS officer which is probing the case is neither a part of Thane police nor the ATS.

Answering the constant outbreaks of opposition Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said bringing out the truth in the mysterious death of Mansukh, whose Scorpio vehicle was used to keep explosives near Ambani’s residence, is important for the “image” and “prestige” of the Maharashtra government. He also said the opposition should keep patience and let the investigation come out with the realities but It is wrong to politicize his death and put the government in the wharf.

On the other hand, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Sandeep Deshpande demanded that a sitting judge should be appointed to carry out the investigation.

A police official from Thane told the media that Mansukh had left his shop around 8.30 pm on Thursday in an autorickshaw and since then his phone was switched off. His family members had lodged a missing person’s report on Friday morning after he did not return home and a case was registered at Naupada police station.

By that time, a body was found at Mumbra and it was later confirmed that the deceased was Mansukh. The post-mortem was done at a civic-run hospital in Thane’s Kalwa on Saturday and his mobile phone is yet to be recovered, informed an official.

Mansukh was born in 1977 in Thane and was working in an automobile and spare parts company. An unknown car found near Ambani House Antila revealed that the car belonged to him and he also admitted to the police that the car belonged to him. But the reason behind his death is still unknown.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) named 33 people, including actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, in a chargesheet filed before a special court in Mumbai in a case related to the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput last year. The document of nearly 12,000 pages has statements recorded of more than 200 witnesses.

Advocate Satish Maneshinde said, “The 12000-page charge was expected. All efforts of NCB have been directed towards Rhea Chakraborty to somehow rope her in. The entire amount of “Narcotic Substances recovered against 33 Accused are nothing compared to what even a Constable in Mumbai Police or Narcotics Cell or the Airport Customs or other agencies recover from one raid or trap. The entire NCB from top to bottom was engaged in unearthing drug angles in Bollywood… There’s hardly any material against any known faces who were paraded during the investigations, I wonder why? Either the allegations were false or Only God Knows the Truth.”

The charge sheet is a damp squib standing on the foundation of Inadmissible Evidence and Statements recorded under section 67 of the NDPS Act even after the Supreme Court Judgement in Toofan Singh Judgement… Without Rhea Chakraborty being Charged this case has no substance… The HC has found no prima facie material at the stage of Bail of alleged “Financing” Drugs Trade,” he added.

Mamata Banerjee Again In West Bengal?

Famous for his contribution towards the people of Nandigram under the umbrella of the Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee, when reports of land acquisition for a chemical hub had triggered a movement. Suvendu defeated CPI(M)’s strongman Lakshman Seth by a margin of 1,72,958 votes.

He resigned from the primary membership of the All India Trinamool Congress and joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 19th December 2020. May contest against Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram. Mamata Didi is likely to file her nomination for the seat on March 11. Nandigram goes to poll in the second phase on April 1.

Dipanjan Ghosh, an IT professional from West Bengal said, “The slogan ‘daughter of Bengal’ has really moved people. Suvendu Adhikari was liked by people the most when he was in TMC, since he has joined BJP, he is going to lose elections. People fear communal violence here.”

Whereas BJP’s West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said, “My party is going to win by all means; people of West Bengal are tired of Mamta’s inefficient government. He further stated that the BJP will sweep Bengal polls by 200 of the total 294 Assembly seats. He further continued, “We are ready for the contest in the West Bengal Assembly elections.”

Elections to 294-member West Bengal Assembly will begin on March 27. The eight-phase polling will conclude on April 29, results on May 2. Bengal is likely to see a triangular contest with TMC, Congress-Left alliance, and BJP in the fray.

Right now, the state of affairs in West Bengal is the most complicated. The CPI(M) and the Left Front have been rigorously working to recover lost ground. BJP also is in full form; they left no stone unturned. Hundreds of men and RSS cadres are already at the groundwork. IT cells are geared up with their agendas. The 2019 Lok Sabha election saw a polarisation between the TMC and BJP and the latter won 18 of the 42 seats polling 40.6 percent (of votes). The Left Front got squeezed out in this polarisation and got only 7.4 percent of the votes.

Surprisingly just like Maharashtra, there can be another combination that can decide the fortune of West Bengal, Left Front, Congress, and other non-BJP, non-TMC forces that can get together to strip the BJP of additional support. In this entire exercise of keeping BJP out of the game, Mamata Banerjee has a strong chance of coming to power again.

Only ‘Mamata Didi’ Says West Bengal, BJP Needs To Change Approach

I recently met my West Bengal friends, they told me Bengal and Didi are made for each other. BJP has gained a lot of popularity in the recent past but their politics is communal, they may take some good vote shares but defeating Didi is not so easy. TMC also has strong roots here. There would be tough competition between them. In the 2016 Assembly Election BJP made inroads in WB with 3 seats with a vote share of 10.16% (comparatively increase of 5.56% as compared to the 2011 election).

In the 2014 General Election BJP managed to get 2 seats with a vote share of 17.05% (an increase of 10.88%). In the 2019 General Election BJP really played well in WB earning 18 seats with a vote share of 40.25% (An increase of 22.25% as compared to the 2014 election). TMC was able to secure 43.28%. Looking at these numbers we can say BJP has earned good numbers here. But is that enough for winning?

BJP’s core agenda still is Hindutva, Ram Mandir, Jai Shree Ram chanting but none of their leaders spoke about development. Modi also criticised Mamata and made a very embarrassing statement but made no mention of development or infrastructure. Meanwhile, CAA and NRC to identify the illegal immigrants and send them back to the country of origin was another major agenda that has not gone well with the West Bengal population.

After the formation of the federal government for the second time, West Bengal has become the main target of the Modi-Shah alliance after establishing control over all the important states of India either individually or by forming alliances. Unfortunately, they lost it in Maharashtra but now they don’t want to lose Bengal.

Bengal elections may go the Delhi way. Although BJP increased its vote share from 32 to 40% in the assembly election from 2015 but decreased by 14% from Lok Sabha 2019. BJP had no candidate against the popularity of Kejriwal. Similarly, BJP doesn’t have a strong candidate against Mamata in West Bengal. BJP may increase its vote share & seats in assembly elections but is unlikely to defeat Mamata.

West Bengal is not only the second-largest state in India in terms of population but also at the junction of North-East India with the mainland of India. It shares borders with Bangladesh and Bhutan. Not far away from China, Myanmar and Nepal. As a state, after Kashmir, Assam and West Bengal are the most populous Muslim regions in terms of population.

In 2019, the BJP-led central government passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) in the Indian Parliament, promising to grant citizenship to Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh and providing them with housing. West Bengal has about 28 per cent of Muslim voters. The BJP wants to implement its NRC plan at four levels. Minority voters don’t want to buy these promises from BJP.

Many want TMC to win because they believe BJP will compromise the peace of the state with riots and communal clashes. 18 MPs of BJP were elected in 2019. But they have not done anything for the people of Bengal. Only religion should not be an issue. TMC has done many reforms and development works.

As per the micro-level scenario, BJP may win in the Northern part of West Bengal and rural districts, including Burdwan, Dinajpur (North and South), and Murshidabad. People from these areas are actually fed up with this current government, and they see BJP as the best alternative (despite knowing the fact that BJP lacks a proper CM face in the state). They want proper coordination between the Central and the State government, which is currently lacking due to the egoistic nature of Mamata Banerjee.

Even though the State government employees have total control of the Election Machinery on a voting day, it is very difficult for a rival Political party to perform to its expectations on Election Day in the State of West Bengal.
