Panasonic-launches-Eluga-Arc

Panasonic has launched an all new Eluga series smartphone called the Eluga Arc. The Eluga Arc is priced at Rs 12,490 and comes with budget hardware specifications but packs in a unique design feature in the form of a 2.5D curved display glass.

The curved 2.5D glass display is actually a first for Panasonic. Still then there are other noticeable features like a fingerprint reader that can also be programmed for functions other than just unlocking the smartphone. The fingerprint reader can save five fingerprints and can also be given some custom functions like the ability to answer calls, launch applications like the camera and even lock down some apps.

Under the 2.5D glass screen lies a 4.7-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display. Inside, we get a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The internal storage can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

Coming to the cameras we get a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The handset supports a number of connectivity options including 4G LTE bands with dual SIM slots (4G/3G+2G) along with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Also included is an IR sensor to control IR based smart home automated devices.

The handset boots to Android 5.1 Lollipop (with a custom FitHome UI) and is powered by a 1800mAh battery that features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 1.0 charging tech.

Commenting on the launch, Pankaj Rana, Business Head, Mobility Division, Panasonic India, said, “For smartphone users, a major concern is the confidentiality and security of the highly volatile data, with cloud storage usage growing rapidly across segments. This control-sensitive device, which achieves complex tasks with a single fingerprint is personalized for the user and protects the smartphone investment. Our first curved display device in the 4G/LTE series, the Arc is rich in technology innovation, including an inbuilt sensor to operate home automated appliances.”.
