PM Modi Meets Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Expresses Concern Over Gaza Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Sunday during the UN General Assembly. In their bilateral talks, PM Modi expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza and reiterated India’s continued support for the Palestinian people.

The meeting was highlighted by Randhir Jaiswal, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, in a post on X, where he reaffirmed India’s commitment to a two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

PM Modi had earlier condemned the terror attacks on Israel by Hamas on October 7 but continues to voice concerns over the deteriorating conditions in Gaza. India has also extended humanitarian aid to the region, releasing $2.5 million in 2024-25 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees.

During his visit to New York, PM Modi also held bilateral meetings with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, focusing on strengthening ties and fostering further cooperation.

Earlier, PM Modi met top tech CEOs at a roundtable hosted by MIT School of Engineering, emphasizing India’s potential for growth and collaboration in various sectors. The Prime Minister will also address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the UN General Assembly.
