PMO asks Prabhu to enhance rail safety

In a bid to avert major train accidents in the country, PMO is trying to make up the lost time and enhance the safety of train passengers in future. The train accident near Kanpur saw tragedy struck and that jolts the nation. It could have been averted easily if we could make out the attempt of terrorists involvement in sabotage of the tracks and the rail fractures frequently happen despite keeping a close watch on train tracks. The derailment of trains and it implications is rather high and unless some proper check is conducted, the passenger safety will be at stake. Strange are the ways of train accidents in the Indian history.  In the past, we heard about bomb blasts, head on collision, wrong signal, smoke inside coaches and snatching of fish plates caused trouble and discomfiture to commuters and caused major causalities at late night. A panel will be set up to probe as an eyewash and the findings will always point finger towards human error. But the dear lives were lost in a major mishap. It is time to upgrade railway safety as per the budget promises made by the Union Railway Minister. Instead of seeking the resignation of the Railway Minister it is time to look into the ways and means to avert such serious mishaps. PMO should be proactive in monitoring the train safety and the erring personal should be fixed if found careless.
