The police in India are torturing suspects to death in custody with impunity and blaming suicide or natural causes. Since these deaths are not happening in an open domain, it is very hard to prove how they died if the other police officials who are witnesses protect their colleagues.
There are hundreds of thousands of innocent people who are kept in jails all over India, without any cases registered against them. They are released only after their families pay huge amounts of money to the jail authorities. Inspections by the judges are nothing but eyewash.
