BSF is a brave and capable force and there should be no controversy involving food served to jawans. Senior officers must themselves look into the grievances and may set up a mess committee to specify menu and oversee the preparation. They should periodically check the supply of food to their jawans. There may be some truth in allegations regarding sale of rations, but this must be enquired.
It is felt that perhaps the selection process of this force is not as rigourous as the SSB for army, navy and Air force. The selected candidate must undergo good psychological test. It should be judged if the selected personnel is a team player or not. Senior officers of BSF should be asked to file a short report with pictures to defence ministry once a quarter to provide evidence of food served to jawans. This issue should not be politicised.
