Raid, a ploy to divert attention of media

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at the office of Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. A furious Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government after CBI raid on the office of Chief Secretary of the Delhi government, terming it the “darkest” day and an “undeclared emergency” in the history of Indian democracy. “CBI raids my office…when Modi could not handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Indian PM has been called as a ‘coward, psychopath,’ isn’t it the worst language used against an elected Prime Minister of India? Whatever Kejriwal has said might be a reaction to an action, but whatsoever he shouldn’t have used such words. Let me clear that CBI is not a Delhi police. It is the central government which miserably failed on the political front with AAP and is now harassing the elected Government of Delhi. Why? Because, the AAP government is not favouring any business houses whereas the central government has friendly relation with some of them. We should note that, the CBI is carefully avoiding investigation if it is against any BJP’s corrupt politicians.

While the CBI has claimed that the raid was at the office and residence of Kumar, Kejriwal termed the agency as liars, saying files from his office were being looked into. His deputy, Manish Sisodia, questioned what message the government wanted to send by raiding the Chief Minister’s office. Mamata Banerjee also expressed her support to Kejriwal saying she was shocked to hear of the raid.

There was huge outrage and chaos on social media, while AAP leaders and supporters accused the NDA government of crushing civil liberties and democratic rights and said Modi was sending out a message to officials working with the Chief Minister that they will be targeted. Sisodia said action should be taken against guilty, but the same cannot be made an excuse to harass officials. A corruption case has been registered against Rajendra Kumar, the allegation that he abused his official position to favour a particular firm in getting tenders from various Delhi government departments in the past few years, adding that the action has been taken on the basis of a complaint lodged by a former Delhi Dialogue Commission member secretary. After taking warrants, the agency initiated searches on the residential and the official premises of Mr. Kejriwal’s Secretary at Delhi Secretariat around 9 a.m.

The question remains here is, as Alka Lamba has argued that the raid is politically motivated. It is not a raid on or against corruption. The said case is 13 years old. It was registered in 2002. At that time Sheila Dikshit of the Congress was the Delhi’s Chief Minister.

Not even a single raid happened in the last 13 years, and suddenly the investigation agency has woken up. The BJP is lying that Kejriwal’s office was not raided. The CBI has actually raided his secretariat, where he functions from. They have sealed the office where Kejriwal has kept most of the files related to Delhi administration. Isn’t it shocking? Aren’t you surprised by it?

The Centre is on the back foot after the inhuman demolition of slums at Shakur Basti by the Railways. Even the Delhi High Court has described it as an inhuman act and slammed the Railways. The Centre is now facing the heat. Just to divert the attention of the media, the CBI controlled by the Centre has raided Kejriwal’s office. All files related to Shakur Basti are at the CM’s office and the same office has been sealed by the CBI. They might tamper these files and may even destroy them.

AAP government has passed the Jan Lokpal Bill and sent it to the Centre. The Centre has been using the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Dr. Najeeb Jung to harass them. It is also using the Commissioner of Police, Delhi to implicate them in false cases. They are digging old FIRs against AAP MLAs and arresting them for no reason. After the LG and the Delhi police, the Centre is now using the CBI. It has already divided the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Delhi government. The raid has exposed the hypocrisy of the BJP over corruption. More than 100 people have so far mysteriously died in the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. Did the Centre raid MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s office? No. The connection between Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the IPL founder Lalit Modi are well known. He is absconding. Did the CBI or any other central agency raid her office? No. Then why they raided only Kejriwal’s CMO?

Lamba told that the Principal Secretary to chief minister is a very honest man. He is not a corrupt man. By raiding Rajender Kumar’s office, the Centre is terrorising all honest bureaucrats working in the Delhi government. They are warning them that whosoever is close to Kejriwal or honest will be targeted even if they are posted outside Delhi. Officers are now scared. The Centre wants to paralyse the entire administration by doing this. The AAP is against corruption and it is non-negotiable. Kejriwal sacked his own Cabinet minister on the charges of corruption and even ordered a CBI probe against him. The CBI raid has shocked the family of Rajender Kumar. His daughters are studying in school. They are in shock. All are terrified. Is it not inhuman?

Social media is divided in two groups; one that advocates and supports Kejriwal’s view and statements on PM Modi and others those who condemn his statement. Mainstream Media is gazing on controversy as usual. However, no one is bothered about the reputation of PM or CM when it comes to global platform.
