Rohit Sharma’s elevation as vice-captain

Rohit Sharma is elevated to become vice captain of India after missing the entire test series. This is a very strange situation in Indian cricket.  A player with recurring injuries in International cricket is made vice-captain of Indian cricket team. Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh were omitted from the team under the pretext of lack of physical fitness. Rohit can make future count but in reality it is not so easy to beat Sri Lanka in the short form of the game. As an opener Rohit will find it difficult to retain his place against quality pace bowling. Rohit is a rabbit with spin bowling and that makes his chances to stay in playing XI is rather more difficult. He is lazy on the field and may find the going tough. Anyway, he is not an automatic choice for team’s playing XI. Like him wicket keeper Dhoni’s place is also at stake and may lose his place once for all after the series.

In the just concluded series only few players performed well and that was enough to beat Sri Lankan side.  Even captain Virat Kohli was a failure in most of the matches. Ravindra Jadeja was suspended for his dangerous throw in the field of play and he is a serial offender and will face more action if he continues to act rude in a gentleman’s game of cricket.  The one day and T-20 matches won’t be a cake for Team India. We should work hard instead of just banking on Sri Lanka’s slide.
