
The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) has busted a sex racket operating out of a lodging and boarding facility in the Narpoli area of Kon, Panvel. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the rescue of six women.
Senior inspector Pritviraj Ghorpade confirmed that a decoy customer was deployed to trap the accused. Those arrested include the lodge manager and two other employees. Authorities are still on the lookout for a fourth person believed to be involved in the illegal operation.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) and Section 370(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to human trafficking. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network.
