To save our youths from the deadly addiction, government should shut all hookah bars operating in the state. There are increasingly popular ‘hookah bars’ where growing numbers of teenagers have revived the habit of smoking sweetened tobacco in traditional sheesha pipes. Smoking hookahs increases the consumption of nicotine and the risk of cancer. It’s important that people understand that second-hand smoke is just as bad, if not worse. Hookah bars were using “chemical substances”, damaging the health of young people who frequent the places. Restaurants and lounge bars serving hookah to minors or serving it without pictorial warning should be targeted for violations. There is an urgent need to take stringent action against those clubs, hookah bars, and restaurants that are flouting the law.
