The elusive manifesto

It is a pity that the BJP was unable to release its manifesto in advance when its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has been enunciating his various programmes during public meetings from time to time. Baba Ramdev was also assisting him in this matter. Election manifesto need not be a very comprehensive and it can include vital points only.

The most important aspect is providing adequate drinking water to the citizens through an effective water management plan encompassing water conservation, rain water harvesting, curtailing wastage and recycling grey water for gardening purposes etc; by ensuring effective participation through expert technologists on the subject. For every ministry, there has to be an expert consultative group and they must be listened to. No one is talking about curtailing human population and reducing the number of big private cars. Manufacturing sector has to be strengthened by harnessing efforts of our industrialists and businessmen.

How will you provide jobs unless the manufacturing sector is revived? Foreign collaboration should be sought, if needed in this matter. We have good indigenous talent as is being reported in the matter of production of railway coaches. The only way forward is to develop this sector so that it can absorb more youth instead of making them rely only on the government jobs. We must develop employable skills among youth and goad our industrialists to set up industries.

“Hum rajneeti par bahut samay barbad kar rahen hain, utpadakta par jor nahin de rahe”. Corporate houses should be asked to adopt a cluster of rural areas and develop them as model villages. Subrata Roy, Vijay Mallya, Shilpa Shetty, Neeta Ambani etc; should be asked to adopt villages and not merely bid for IPL players. Government must not allow any NGO unless they are engaged in rural development, child development with orientation and burning desire to work in the villages. It’s the duty of planning commission. They are not meant to churn out bogus data and waste public money.

If Narendra Modi becomes prime minister he must not include Lal Krishna Advani, Venkaiah Naidu, Murli Manohar Joshi Shatrughan Sinha and Uma Bharti in the ministry. Some ministries should be allotted to eminent personalities like Baba Ramdev (Health), Ratan Tata or even Mukesh Ambani (Industry). Why should only an MP compulsorily become a minister? This is the biggest aspect responsible for rising corruption. You are a public representative, not necessarily an expert in a field. Let the key ministries be headed by persons possessing good experience and credibility.
