The controversy surrounding denial of entry to Saina Nehwal’s father into the Commonwealth village at Gold Coast is unwarranted. Only officials are allowed to stay at the village and this is precisely the reason why PV Sindhu’s mother too has been denied entry at the event. Officials accompanying depends on the size of contingent representing each country and it is difficult to accommodate parents of each sportsmen representing the country though they may be paying their travel and other expenses.
Saina and Sindhu are great sportsperson who have represented our nation with pride by winning many laurels & medals for the country in the past. They should focus on the games now that they have entered the games village and the media too should not make an issue out of the brewing controversy but cheer our sportsmen to give off their best in the coming fortnight. Winning medals is all that counts at any sporting event and here is wishing Saina Nehwal and her tribe to win lots of medals at the Commonwealth Games for our country!
