Your third eye

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am back with some more Mind changing ideas to help you understand the infinite possibilities that lie within you. If I were to ask you which part of your body is the most important to you? What would your answer be? Did you know that the most important part of your body lies in the centre of your brain? It is the Pineal Gland. The shape of the gland resembles a pine cone, hence its name. The pineal gland is located in the epithalamus, near the centre of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a groove where the two halves of the thalamus join. The pineal gland produces melatonin, a hormone which modulates sleep patterns in both circadian and seasonal cycles. So how is it the most important part of our body? René Descartes the French philosopher and scientist believed it to be the “principal seat of the soul”.

The Pineal gland is primarily associated with helping us go to sleep, but when we go into a mystical state of consciousness or meditative state as we all know it, we have to go into a zoned out very relaxed state, or zen state of consciousness. Every scripture, every holy text has references to the Pineal gland. It continues to have an exalted status in the realm of pseudoscience. According to a recent research the pineal gland also secretes another very important chemical called DMT (Dimethytriptamine), which again allows the mind to experience time dilation or experience spiritual dimensions. Let me simplify this for you. The third eye is known as the gateway to higher consciousness. It is also known to symbolise a state of enlightenment.

In spiritual traditions, the third eye is known as the “inner eye”, or the “ajna Chakra”. Some believe it is also associated with clairvoyance, out of body experiences, visions and especially East Asian and Indian mythology show the third eye as a dot, eye or mark on the forehead of deities and other enlightened beings. Hinduism and Buddhism use the third eye as symbolism of enlightenment. Hindus place a “tilak” between the eyebrows as a representation of the third eye. The pineal gland is used to get in touch with the inner worlds. Activating the third eye can be accomplished through meditation. Mastering the art of meditation will help to activate the pineal gland teaching you to relax and open your mind to all possibilities.

Scientific evidence supports the possibility that our third eye, or pineal, was once our first eye. Under the microscope, the pineal is made up of cells that have the same features as the rod-shaped light sensitive cells found in our retinas. The pineal gland receives signals that travel down the optic nerves. It seems the primitive third eye functioned as a sight organ before our current set of eyes. But in most humans the third eye stays dormant or gets calcified due to poor diet, exposure to toxins in the environment, the food we eat, stress and modern life. The pineal gland gets hardened, then calcified and eventually shuts down. It is also affected by electromagnetic fields (EMF) released by mobile phones and other wireless devices.

The Pineal gland is especially sensitive to fluoride in the water as it deposits on tissues rich in calcium, such as the pineal. The gland calcifies when it encounters fluoride – these calcifications are known as brain sand. It’s important to detox the body in order to decalcify the Pineal Gland. In today’s world, we are assaulted by an enormous range of chemicals, in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Our poor diets and contemporary lifestyle are the main causes of calcification. Due to modern lifestyles, the pineal has shrunk. Indian masters of the Vedic times were believed to have a pineal gland the size of a lemon. Today, our pineal gland is the size of small seed or pea. The primary goal of decalcifying your pineal gland is so that you can begin the process of pineal gland activation and awaken your third Eye.

Meditation is the key. The law of attraction states that whatever desire penetrates the subconscious mind, manifests. There is no wrong way of meditation since the Pineal gland largely functions on intention. A simple way to meditate would be to firstly shut off all light sources, sit in a comfortable position, cross legged is fine, palms on your thighs facing upwards. Shut your eyes and take three deep breaths and exhale very slowly. Do not worry if thoughts bother you, just observe your thoughts without giving them any feelings.

Let them come and go, you can start relaxing your body. Start with your head and mind, by relaxing your crown, forehead, face, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, stomach, waist, thighs, calves, ankles and feet. Give the command in your mind to each part of your body asking it to relax, let go and sleep. Take some time to do this. Focus your attention on your third eye, which is in the center of your brows. Once you do this start visualising the desired outcome of events that you want. See yourself winning that award, or meeting the love of your life. Next week, I shall share with you some very simple exercises that you can incorporate in your daily life to activate the law of attraction. So until next time, Stay Blessed, Stay Positive, Stay Abundant.
