Two labourers were killed and eight others injured as an under-construction building collapsed in upscale Jubliee Hills in Hyderabad on Sunday, police said.
The two killed labourers included a woman from West Bengal.
“Today at around 11 AM, when work was on to lay slab, it suddenly broke down and fell on the workers. At least 12 labourers were working when the slab collapsed and two of them were buried alive,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Venkateswara Rao said.
Some labourers are feared trapped under the debris, which the authorities were removing and trying to rescue those buried alive, officials said.
The accident occurred in Film Nagar, where the three-storey building was being built as part of the expansion of Film Nagar Cultural Centre and cement-concrete slabs for two floors were laid.
