Even as the two factions of the Samajwadi Party have laid claim to the party symbol bicycle, there was a series of parleys between
them amid speculations of a possible truce. However, the talks made little headway with the Akhilesh camp asserting that there would be no compromise even on core issues. The meeting between father and son is one more step to bring the party together despite differences. Expelled SP general secretary Ramgopal Yadav, who scripted Akhilesh Yadav’s takeover as party president opined that there would be “no compromise” between the two factions. Shivpal Yadav’S presence in the meeting could not break the ice. Now, the two groups had presented their case to the Election Commission. The fight is on for election symbol in such circumstances, the cycle symbol will be withdrawn and both the factions should be allowed to choose their own symbol for identity purpose.
