Religious attacks are not new by political parties and extremist groups. There are many sponsored agendas behind this by extreme agitations and one of them is to sow hatred seeds among people. These people hardly know anything about religious preaching or decorum. They call themselves a saviour of Islam or saviour of Sanatan Dharma or Hindutva. They are the ones who start these dirty games. Our country is one of the developing countries in the world but our nation is cursed with poverty and unemployment. This is the country where the common man who lives below poverty level gets exploited by the radicals. If a Hindu is getting converted to Christianity or Muslim religion then it’s his helplessness. He is being provided with basic requirements to lead a normal life. Whosoever makes his life easier is god for him and that guy’s religion is his. You can’t preach to people with an empty stomach. Hindus need to be strong and united with proper support system to their community and believe me no one will opt for conversion. When it comes to the welfare and upliftment of poor, we randomly attack government and pass the buck. This is how religious fundamentalists take advantage by converting the needy to their religion. Fighting in the name of religion is meaningless. We all human beings have evolved from common ancestor, since we have 99.9 per cent of same genetic material. Religion is the solution to the rational minds which cannot attribute reason, as somethings are still not revealed. Religion will get diluted as years pass. Earlier, religion was considered seriously, but as science is revealing several things, now many in the world have lost their faith in religion. We all are brothers and sisters, let us live like a legend and not like cowards.
Today, another biggest issue is love-jihad. Various Hindu fundamentalist organisations are working on this burning issue and some are earning livelihood through this. It’s a general notion that Muslim youth exploit young Hindu girls by luring them with various things. The local Muslim leaders of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) protect these Muslim youths from the police and the law. Most alarming is what a Meerut MLC, who represents teachers, said, “The genesis of the trouble (the Muzaffarnagar riots) is the increasing cases of molestation ever since this government came to power and its refusal to register complaints against the goons. The parties that propagate Hindu nationalism obviously will take the advantage of this.” It is difficult to imagine that there is no politics involved in this incident. All this is being done keeping in mind the 2014 general elections. However, I am sure and confident that in 2013, public will understand them and resist the polarisation of votes and will teach the parties a lesson in the coming elections.
Love Jihad started in Kerala where Muslim population is very high. Hindus have a sectarian interpretation on this. “Cases of love jihad are on the rise in western UP where Muslim boys are enticing Hindu girls into love affairs, exploiting them and then marrying them after converting them into Muslim and then moving on to the next victim. Most of them hide their real names and religion in this whole exploitation process. They also practiced this scheme in UK and exploited under-age girls with the help of Pakistani origin Muslims. They were imprisoned recently.
Very well educated and high profile Hindu girls have fallen in love with Muslim boys and married them. I can give you the example of Suhashini Haider and Lakshmi Nizamuddin, Kareena Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Gauri Khan. They knew what they were doing and they are successful in their lives. Please stop casting aspersions on genuine love.
Whenever and wherever the riots have shown its cruel face, stories of Muslim boys raping Hindu girls in the name of love jihad and Hindu guys raping Muslim girls (which is very rare) becomes news. However, I sincerely feel pity for such people and their stale mindset that are hell-bent on taking our countrymen for a ride in the name of religion. These politicians themselves do not follow the first basic law of any religion i.e. love and respect humanity. Moreover, continuously branding a particular community has already done so much damage. Muslims do not get houses on rent; they are treated differently just for their attire and tagged as terrorists. No riot is one sided. People from both sides of the divider played a role in this.
“Love Jihad” is a hate campaign sponsored by some groups. Some cases of inter religious love marriages were referred as evidences of love jihad and cases were filed in Kerala. However, the court couldn’t find any evidences of such “love Jihad” and the court suspected that there are efforts to spread hatred against a religion with this term of “love jihad”. With the facts behind the ‘Love Jihad’ finally being officially out, as the cyber cell of Kerala police have now registered cases against the hate campaign organised by ‘Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’ through its website. Cyber cell with the help of cyber forensic department have started probing into the details regarding the activities of the website and the ones behind it. Inter religious marriages happen occasionally, though none of the religious groups support it. Jihad-al-Akbar i.e. the greater jihad is fighting against one’s own self to lead a life of high morale that includes lowering gazes and not staring/looking at non-mahrem (non blood relative) women. So, in that case, the so called ‘love jihad’ by VHP is against Sharia and against the teachings of Al Qur’an. The sad part is that people seem to believe such ‘jihad’ stories. It is amazing that in the year 2013, we still have leaders who want to protect their women from Muslim men. India is a secular state and every man and woman has a right to choose their partners. By saying that Muslim men are eve teasers, does the leader mean that Hindu men refrain from eve teasing completely? Eve-teasing is pervasive throughout the country and is not limited by caste, creed, religion or age.
It’s sad to see that we are still focusing on issues of religion as we had 50 years ago. It means that our mentality has not changed.
