The Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday released its first list of candidates for 19 constituencies for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab.
Mann has been named chairman of AAP campaign committee for Punjab. The minister is facing a probe for his nearly 12-minute security-breaching Parliament video, apparently shot on July 21. Mann, in the video which he posted on Facebook, gives a running commentary as his vehicle crosses security barricades and enters Parliament.
The most prominent figure in the first list of candidates include noted Supreme Court lawyer HS Phoolka. Phoolka, who lost the Lok Sabha election of 2014 from Ludhiana, will contest from Dakha constituency in Ludhiana district, said the Aam Aadmi Party, which has emerged as a major player in the state.
Mohan Singh Phalianwala’s name has been shortlisted for the Ferozepur (rural), basketball Olympian Sajjan Singh Cheema’s for Sultanpur Lodhi, and Ahbaab Singh Grewal’s name has been chosen for the Ludhiana West seat.
