Following a tip-off about a woman cabin crew member arriving from an international flight (AI 274) from Colombo, the officers screened her baggage to find that she had pilfered various items.

They were shocked when checked the baggage of a lady cabin crew member who had flown in on an international flight from Colombo.

Acting on a tip-off her baggage was screened only to reveal that the air hostess had carried off all that she could lay her hands on during the flight.

The seized items included in-flight meals, coffee boxes, milk cartons, whiskey bottles, cashew nuts, juice packets and much more

The vigilance officials received this complaint on January 27 about a woman, an Air India cabin crew member from an international flight from Colombo. When her baggage was screened, the officials found all the in-flight food items and beverages.

Ashwani Lohani, airline’s new chairman and managing director has given strict warnings that actions will be taken against those caught filching. Still it seems Air India crew members did not take his warning seriously.

The airport official said, “It appeared that she had brought with her anything and everything she could lay her hands on inside the plane. She has been taken off the roster and an inquiry has been ordered.”

An official added, “She had operated the Chennai-Colombo-Delhi flight with a night halt at Delhi and did Delhi-Colombo-Chennai. She was caught after she landed in Chennai.”

Rajji Rai, Aviation expert said, “Anything on board is company property. It’s high time Air India had a zero-tolerance policy on anybody caught stealing.”
