War films are coming back in trend, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Raazi’ which is based in Harinder Sikka’s novel, ‘Calling Sehmat’ and is set against the backdrop of 1971 Indo-Pak war has finally got a release date.
As per the director Meghna Gulzar’s tweet the film will release on 11th May, 2018.
Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ upon which the film is based, is about a spy who in the service of the nation makes great sacrifices which involves his wife and his family.
Alia will reportedly play a Kashmiri girl who gets married to Vicky Kaushal, an Indian Army Officer and a spy. Alia will be shown in a conflict as getting torn apart between her responsibilities as a wife of an Indian Army officer and as an Indian citizen.
According to the revelations made by far, ‘Raazi’ won’t be a war film particularly, but a chain of events that actually led to Indo-Pak war. That’d be interesting to see how the director shows a war drama without actually showing the war.
