The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) on Sunday announced the results of Class XII examination with Noida girl Raksha Gopal scoring a whopping 99.6 per cent to bag the first rank.

Three students from Chandigarh were declared toppers in CBSE’s Class 12 Board examinations — Bhumi Sawant as the second all-India topper (science) and Mannat Luthra and Aditya Jain as joint third toppers (commerce). Sawant scored a 99.4% in science and Luthra and Jain 99.2% in commerce, respectively.

Raksha scored 100 marks each in English, Political Science, and Economics. In History and Psychology, she scored 99 marks each. Gopal is a student of Amity International School in Sector 44, Noida.

“There is no favourite college in DU and I am waiting for the first cut-off list,” the 17-year-old said.

“I would really like to concentrate on economics in my graduation and post graduation as it is my favourite subject,” she added.

Raksha’s father Gopal Srinivasan is the chief finance officer with the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation and her mother Rajni Gopal is a homemaker.

“We are stunned by our daughter’s performance. Raksha was always a talented student but scoring 99.6% is a remarkable feat,” said Srinivasan.

Overall pass percentage is 82 percent, while it was 83 percent last year. Around 11 lakh students have appeared for the CBSE Class 12 exam.

Students can check their results on the official website of the board, cbseresults.nic.in. The result has been announced after much delay due to the controversy with the Marks Moderation Policy.

The board has also started a helpline with toll free number 18000118004 for psychological counselling post class XII board results.

“65 counsellors will talk to students and parents on the helpline number between 8 am to 10 pm,” the official said.

Earlier on Friday, the CBSE decided to not to move the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court instructions stating that evaluation for the class 10 and 12 board exams this year should be done as per the grace marks policy.
