Coastal road will ease traffic woes

The central government has given the required clearances for the construction of coastal road from Nariman Point to Kandivli. Shiv Sena too was working for the approval of this project and Mumbaikars should be pleased that they will get parallel walking and jogging tracks for good physical development. The project will help in decongesting Mumbai roads and create 91 hectares of green space in the metropolis. It is a boon for citizens who travel long distance for reaching south Mumbai from suburbs. The coastal stretch will be developed for tourists. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said in-principle approval has been granted and consultations were still on. He said the state government has been asked to ensure that reclamation of land should be “minimal” and no commercial activity should be carried out on reclaimed land.

“La rambla” is very good for walking, jogging and inhaling fresh air. Let us seek co-operation of experts to make this road as aesthetically pleasing as we can and safe for motorists. College and university students can seek participation in its construction and beautification. Marina Bay is located in Singapore where many people come for brisk walking and jogging. It is well maintained. Swimming is a very good exercise for the body. The government must construct more swimming pools where citizens can practice swimming.

They suggested buildings must conduct electrical audits every year. Firemen should undergo yearly health check ups and BMC officials should also undertake such tests once in two years.
