Controversy over Land Acquisition Bill

The BJP government tabled the controversial Land Acquisition Bill 2015 to replace the ordinance in Lok Sabha. The government will find it difficult to pass the bill in Rajya Sabha as it lack majority. The opposition parties have already united and will block the passage of the bill in the upper house. Social Activist Anna Hazare too had begun a two day fast to protest against the bill and termed it as anti-farmer. According to Hazare the government is supporting the industrialists and sidelining the interest of farmers.

Why does the government want to build everything today itself? Why do you feel that after you, there will be no one left to build anything? You have built up so much security cover around everything that it has become prohibitive. Earlier, I used to easily walk inside the DG Shipping office. However, when I went there last month, I had noticed that too many barricades were installed and visitors also had to obtain photo pass. Where is the need? Compare this with 1979, when I used to walk in easily and meet Babu Jagjiwan Ram.

During those times Land Acquisition Act didn’t exist when Madan Mohan Malviya was demanding land for establishing the Banaras Hindu University. We are saying, make in India. What will you make and then to whom will you sell especially when you visit Europe, USA, UK and Dubai and indulge in shopping activities and then show it off in parties. “Main to yeh abroad se layee hun”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi who attended the wedding of Mulayam Singh’s grand-nephew Tej Pratap Singh Yadav became the centre of attraction. Samajwadi supporters were cheering for Modi. Is it part of “ subka saath aur sabka vikas” or some modern practice of Socialism. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav also came for the ceremony. BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj was also seen sitting in the VVIP gallery.

Oil and Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is quick to say, no joint secretary is involved when every official in Delhi will inform you that joint secretaries are minister’s men. They act as per the instructions of the ministers. Pradhan said that strict action will be taken against those responsible for leaking official documents. According to police, some of the accused allegedly used fake ID cards to gain access to Shastri Bhawan, the building that houses the Petroleum Ministry on the second floor, in the middle of the night to get hold of confidential documents and allegedly sold them to purported agents of certain corporates. The full secretary generally keeps himself detached and attends to parliament questions, framing policies etc. PA’s are the most influential persons. During prohibition time in Delhi, myself and my friend, PA to the minister will drink beer through tea pot and tea cups in a hotel located opposite Nizamuddin. I told him that my delivery man will get beer and we can drink in the room but he wanted to drink in the hotel.
