Criminals too are human and Maharashtra government’s decision to allow top private specialist doctors to treat prisoners in jails deserves kudos. Indian jails are in pathetic conditions and many jail inmates die of fatal diseases that they get inside prison walls due to unhygienic conditions and poor diet inside cells where they are made to live in cruelty. Heart, lungs and other vital organ diseases need the treatment of a specialist and this move of the govt would save many lives.
Living conditions in jails too need to be improved which should be the next major reform from the govt. Better sense should prevail and even jail inmates too deserves respect as jail term is to reform the offender and to kill him!
