Maharashtra State Government is making a positive move and seek centre’s help for loan waiver for the farmers in distress. Maharashtra in general and Vidharbha farmers in particular suffer because of Government policies and the guidelines on farmers welfare. A Team of government officials can camp in areas like Vidarbha, Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Wardha and Washim to give confidence to the farmers living in death-prone areas. The state budget is vital to clear the air on loan waiver and the Fadnavis government should speed up the matter. Even a fund of Rs.30000 crore in the last 10 years could not save over 20000 Maharashtra state farmers and the outlay so allotted did not reach the needy farmers resulting in suicides. It is indeed testing time for the farmers in the state and the relief packages should reach in quick time with proper distribution. There is discrepancy in allotting relief packages and the year 2015 and 2016 saw many suicides and that sends an alarming signal to the State Government. It is now or never situation and the BJP and Shiv Sena should bring an end to this perennial problem.
