Drawing is an art which you can learn and develop to become an artist of repute. Whether you are a brand new to art or a struggling veteran, drawing is the best medium thorough which to learn observational skill. Pencils are handy so you are more likely to pick them up and practice when you have some spare time. And because you have taken the dimension of colour out of the equation, it is easier to see what you need to see in order to make great looking pictures. After drawing some lovely pictures, then you can think of painting according to your taste and capacity.

Young children start from scratch but later on develop into a professional artist. Painting on canvas is an advanced stage but starting with drawing paper you can perfect the art and the pencil play handy role. You can think of using a ruler when straight lines are drawn and later you can develop it into designs to suit your taste or for making use of the designs for the border. Choosing proper colour gives an additional attraction to your ordinary drawing of a mountain range, with trees on both the sides of the mountain and with a river let flowing below the foothills and the blue sky showing few birds hanging around all your imagination and that goes well with your experience.

A drawing instrument releases a small amount of material onto a surface, leaving a visible mark. The most common support for drawing is paper, although other materials, such as cardboard, plastic, leather, canvas, and board, may be used. Temporary drawings may be made on a blackboard or whiteboard or indeed almost anything. The medium has been a popular and fundamental means of public expression throughout human history. It is one of the simplest and most efficient means of communicating visual ideas. The wide availability of drawing instruments makes drawing one of the most common artistic activities. There are several categories of drawing, including figure drawing, cartooning, doodling, free hand and shading. There are also many drawing methods, such as line drawing, stippling, shading, the surrealist method of entropic graphomania and tracing.

Having tried my hand in cartoons, I switched gears to draw and then colour it of my choice and liking. This helped me to spend time usefully and at the same time able to draw number of pictures as per my liking and imagination. Thus my scrap book carries some paintings and that gives my collection a colourful look.
