sam pitroda 2The crucial Lok Sabha polls are just a few days away and the Presidnt Rahul Gandhi-led Congress is all set to corner the BJP-led central government on lower job data and employment crisis in the poll campaign. Party’s manifesto committee member Sam Pitroda has confirmed it asserting that the country was going through a jobs “crisis”.

Pitroda is a long-time Gandhi family adviser and the chief of the Indian Overseas Congress. He also said that agrarian distress is also a major issue facing the country and it needs to be addressed.

Stating how Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is going to make a huge impact in the upcoming polls, Pitroda expressed how the government has failed to create new employment and moreover has eaten into the employment base the nation already had.

He also blamed the induction of demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the reasons that affected employment at large.

Asked how the Congress will bring the narrative back to real issues such as employment and alleged agrarian distress post the Balakot air strikes, he said the party will raise key issues on the ground among people.

Pitroda is part of the 19-member Manifesto Committee set up by the Congress to come out with the party’s manifesto for the general elections. He has worked on the Knowledge Commission and also founded National Innovation Council later during the Congress-led UPA rule.
