Govt should treat media with respect

Government is targeting the media when they should actually have complimented the reporter who broke the story on how people could illegally access demographic data of individuals in Aadhaar. It was a job well done by The Tribune reporter who broke the story and govt actually should have punished those who leaked the information. Corruption rules the roost in our country and the honest most often are targeted by the law. Media is the watchdog of society and investigating frauds as well as irregularities are their job which they do in national interest. Rules do get broken in unearthing scams but that is how you get to know the truth.

Government should accept that ‘Aadhaar procedures’ do have their shortcomings and ways should be found to make the system full proof. Aadhaar mechanism is actually to eradicate corruption and we need to accept this fact but as it is high time the teething problems are solved as we are linking Aadhaar to banking transactions as well as other important schemes. Government should treat media with respect and not hound them for pointing their mistakes!
