Haryana always muted to high handedness of self-styled godmen?

There are many God-men in controversy with one or other charges. Some are accused of murder; attempt to murder and some have serious charges of rape, whereas kidnapping is like common charges on them. I don’t know why there is so much scandal in God’s own world. Inspite of having criminal charges, these ‘so called’ Godmen have impressive followers, who blindly stand with these ‘Guru Ghantal’. If they have negative images then there are good stories too of these babas. Babas are also contributing to the quality life of poor, who cannot afford their living. You pick up any of the controversial Godman they have another side of humanity in them.

Let’s me first talk about Sant Rampal, who calls himself a spiritual leader and runs “Satlok Ashram” in Hisar. He is facing trial in a case where his supporters opened fire on villagers, killed one and injured several others at Rohtak in 2006. Despite all the preparations and heavy deployment in the area, police in Haryana’s Hisar district failed to arrest Rampal from his Satlok Ashram of Punjab. People who are facing MURDER charges cannot be a SAINT. All who are trying to protect him from arrest are also disobeying COURT orders and should be treated as contempt of court. Cut off water and light; block all food and other supplies to the ashram and see how these supporters will disappear from the ashram. The law should take strong action. The holy baba Rampal should understand the legal compulsion, since the charges against him are quite serious. If he and his followers feel that he is innocent and the charges are baseless, then they should produce evidence to counter the charges leveled against him. Though armed with high court’s non-bailable warrant, the district police were apparently deterred by the presence of thousands of Godman’s followers who stood guard outside the ashram. Haryana police personnel and paramilitary forces were not seen in the vicinity.

They openly announced that police would have to kill more than one lakh followers to arrest Rampal who is unwell from the past two days. How will police take action when children and women are guarding the gate? There is another circle of gunmen and stick-wielding guards outside the ashram. Rampal was charged with murder, attempt to murder and several other cases were registered against him in Rohtak. He was released on bail. However, he failed to appear in court for trial and his bail was cancelled. Last week, the Punjab and Haryana high court issued non-bailable warrant against Rampal and police were asked to produce him on Monday.

Since 2010, Rampal has skipped court hearings 42 times, after seeking repeated exemptions. The court asked him to appear last week but he again failed to do so, which led to a warrant. State government fears violence by Rampal’s supporters and a law and order problem if he is arrested. There is tight security, not just in Hisar but also Chandigarh, where followers have gathered in large numbers near the High Court. Police and paramilitary personnel have been posted across Chandigarh, especially at bus stands and railway stations.

Rampal Maharaj was born on 8 September 1951 in village Dhanana, His father’s name is Bhakt Nandram and mother’s name is Bhaktmati Indradevi. Maharajji after obtaining a diploma in Engineering was appointed as a J.E. in the irrigation department of Haryana Government. One day, he claims to have met a 107 years old great Kabir Panthi Saint Swami Ramdevanandji Maharaj. After meeting him, he actually got into spiritual and religious practices. But with name, fame and popularity, the controversy too has taken charge in his life.

Chandigarh’s borders with Panchkula and Mohali were sealed to prevent the city from being overrun by followers of Rampal. Very difficult to tell who he is, he is running a parallel army of his followers. Police is watching them and followers are freely moving with guns. I won’t blame police or judiciary for these types of people. I would blame the people and blind worshippers. He is using loopholes in Judiciary. After all, justice is the term that gets proved at the end of every trial by a ‘Costly lawyer’ who can say lie without feeling guilty!
