Shivam Dhol Tasha Pathak, a Texas-based Indian traditional drum and snare ensemble, has been invited to perform in the parade from Capitol Hill to the White House following Donald Trump’s swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20.
The high-energy group will showcase the vibrant beats of Dhol Tasha, offering a glimpse of India’s rich musical heritage to millions watching the historic event globally. This marks the first time a traditional Indian drum ensemble from Texas will grace such a significant stage, according to a media release on Monday.
The invitation is being hailed as a milestone for both the band and the Indian-American community, reflecting the growing recognition of Indian culture on the global stage and strengthening cultural ties between the US and India.
Known for their electrifying performances, Shivam Dhol Tasha Pathak has captivated audiences at various prestigious events, including the Howdy Modi rally, NBA and NHL halftime shows, the ICC T20 World Cup opening ceremony, and collaborations with African and Japanese percussionists.
Their participation in the 60th Presidential Inaugural Parade is seen as the pinnacle of their journey. “This performance celebrates cultural diversity and Texas’ role as a hub for multicultural exchange,” the release stated.
