Indian Army demolishes Pakistani AV

In response to the recent infiltration bids from the Pakistan side of the Line of Control, the Indian Army struck a Pakistani forward post in Naushera sector. Calling for proactive counter-terrorism operations in order to maintain peace and stability in the J&K, Major General Ashok Narula, briefing the media on Tuesday, said that infiltration activities must be curbed as they might negatively influence the youth in the area.

In a statement, the army said it had carried out ‘punitive fire assaults’ on these posts to stop infiltration.

“Army has inflicted damage to post across LoC in Naushera sector in response to firing by Pakistan,” Major General Narula said.

The assault was part of a plan to proactively dominate the LoC and counter-terrorism operations to curb infiltration.

“An increase in infiltration activities is speculated due to the opening of passes and melting of snow (Baraf pighalne se aur passes ke khulne se infiltration ke badhne ki aashanka hai),” he added. “Recent actions in Naushera have caused damage to Pakistan army posts,” he added.

Major Gen Narula said that a rise in infiltration is expected with the melting of snow and opening up of mountain passes.

The targeted attack is being seen as India’s reply to Pakistan for aiding and abetting infiltrators to cross over to the Indian side.

Unlike the surgical strikes of last September when the Army crossed the LoC to target terrorist camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Indian soldiers in this case fired mortar shells from their side of the border. Bunker busting guns and anti-tank guided munitions were used in the attack, the report said.
