Infighting within BJP

BJP AVBJP corporator Rita Makwana has alleged that infighting is prevailing among BJP corporators of Colaba constituency. She said that Makrand Narvekar and Harshita Narvekar are erecting hoardings of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in other wards. Rita asked why they are installing posters of rival parties at other areas when they should concentrate on their own ward’s work. She added that Harshita Narvekar and Makrand Narvekar, whose hoardings are already installed on their ward no 227, are visible on ward no 222 too. How can traitors represent their own party, she asked? As a result of this, citizens are confused and it is affecting the party’s image. Thus internal rift is prevalent within BJP which can hamper the party’s growth.

Rita also said that both Makrand and Harshita should concentrate on the development of their own ward instead of interfering in the work of ward no 222. She has urged the BJP leadership to take strict action against these corporators. According to her, BJP has always followed nationalism over individuals. The party doesn’t believe in family politics.

When AV spoke to Vishwas Mhambre, President of BJP Colaba, he said, “BJP president will take appropriate action against Makrand and Harshita Narvekar. I have filed a complaint with Ashish Shelar in this regard. Till now leaders used to concentrate on the development work of their ward only. Rita Makwana has already filed a complaint in this regard. Ashish Shelar should intervene in this matter.”

akash puroht AVAakash Purohit, BJP corporator said, “This issue is concerned with the protocol matter. A complaint has already being filed in this matter. Makrand and Harshita should refrain from installing banners in other wards and should focus on their work. They should not sideline local corporators. This is a controversial matter and our Mumbai president will resolve it amicably.”

sidharth gamre AVSiddharth Gamre, President of BJP South Mumbai, said, “Senior leaders will look into this matter. We will take necessary steps from our side.”

When we tried to contact Makrand Narvekar and Harshita Narvekar they remained unavailable for comment.

Under the condition of anonymity, one of the Maharashtra BJP leader said “These are trivial issues and dirty politics is prevailing within the party. One leader is sabotaging the other. Senior leaders are least interested and they pay attention to only those who collect funds for the party. They are not bothered about those who are working for development.”
