It is a good move by the BJP to pit Kiran Bedi against Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal. In these columns, I had advocated that BJP must shield Prime Minister Narendra Modi against clever canvassing by Kejriwal to preserve his halo. To that extent, they have done well. Kiran Bedi can perform a good job if she sheds her tendency to become heroine. If Bedi does then she might get replaced even after winning election as the BJP movie is revolving around Narendra Modi as the hero, sole hero. The moment you try to overshadow him, you will be out. On the positive side, she can do good work with the central government support.
AAP is likely to secure more number of seats but perhaps not enough to form the government. Congress lacks the punch to win the election. Indian public likes “dhamaka” which the Congress is unable to provide but if people of Delhi are intelligent, they should ensure that the party bags the number two position while AAP comes third. If AAP becomes the number two party they will hold demonstrations and slow down the economic growth and will fail to play the role of a constructive opposition.
Corruption is prevalent in Delhi and it has to be seen if Kiran Bedi can eradicate the same without hurting vested interests. She has not taken any steps to eliminate it. It is necessary to curtail the rising population at the earliest. A thorough combing of people residing in Delhi is important for augmenting security and growth of the economy.
US President Barack Obama possess good oratory skills like Narendra Modi however the former has not done much work for America. Obama had visited Afghanistan and Iraq and offered lot of money to Pakistan but terrorism continues to thrive in our neighbouring nation. Thus Obama is not an able leader and is more on rhetoric and less on performance.
Modi is yet to issue any statement about BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj’s statement that women should produce four children. On the other hand, the respectable Pope Francis has been more vocal about this topic. It is necessary to control the human population and reduce the number of motor vehicles plying on roads which are responsible for the massive air pollution in Mumbai. The citizens must raise their voice against these issues.
