Modi bats for International Yoga Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the right initiative by urging the world to adopt an International Yoga Day. A few simple yogic exercises and breathing practice everyday, will benefit all of us. Yoga and swimming should be taught in Marine colleges too. Some institutes have already taken this initiative. Modi also termed yoga as an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition. He also added that yoga is not just about fitness or exercise, it is about changing one’s lifestyle. Yoga is enjoying rising popularity in the United States and has now become a multi-billion dollar business,

Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao may be practicing Yoga in Raj Bhawan but it is of no use if he comes out with a foolish idea of a Sena-BJP government for 18 days. Modi should have recommended the name of a scientist for this post instead of a shameless sycophant.

The Modi’s maiden speech at the UN was laudable. He also laid emphasis on the need to move from G-one to G-all. He also gave good response to Nawaz Sharif’s remarks about Kashmir. Modi also added that India was willing to have a dialogue with Pakistan but it should first dismantle terrorism infrastructure from its own soil. The UNO surely needs reforms because everything connected with it is synonymous with exorbitant. It had a person of Burmese origin as Secretary General but the country is under military rule. China and Russia are still sitting with Veto power even after the disintegration of USSR and President Vladimir Putin is involved in fights.

India should become a permanent member of United Nations Security Council as a member of the G4 an organization composed of Brazil, Germany, Japan. It should be granted veto power. Those people working for various agencies of UNO must draw moderate wages and the funds should be used for right purposes.

Modi should find ways to start negotiations with Pakistan because you must never block the negotiation channel in diplomatic discourse. Pleading for Yoga, Modi must have won the heart of spiritual guru Baba Ramdev. He will now not trouble the PM to get back the money stashed in Swiss banks quickly. Ramdev Baba has really popularized yoga in India and I notice many women in the park practicing yoga. Few years back, they used to feel shy but not anymore. In fact, women outnumber men nowadays which are a good sign.
