Nobody is untouchable in politics

Our politicians today possess very narrow minds and are only bothered about pursuing their selfish interests. They are only interested in garnering power by hook or crook and don’t think about people’s welfare. Look at the state of affairs in Maharashtra assembly. The BJP won the vote of confidence through voice vote. The Congress MLAs pushed the Governor C.V Rao while protesting against the manner in which the BJP won the voice vote. On the other hand, Shiv Sena had taken too much time to decide whether to a part of the government. The BJP too played the waiting game by not making its stand clear on the government formation. Such pettiness is appalling.

On the top of that many leaders were passing comments against renowned leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi which is unjustified. These stalwarts did what they could do best in their reign and now it is the turn of current leaders to perform and take the nation forward.

We have forgotten about freedom fighter Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan while we talk about the Congress, Mahatma Gandhi and even Afghanistan? He was known as the frontier Gandhi and was the close aide of Gandhiji. Both leaders had dreamed of an independent, undivided, secular India – an India where both Hindus and Muslims would live together in peace. Khan came in for harsh criticism from many of his followers who favoured partition into an independent Hindu-majority India and a Muslim-majority Pakistan.

There were reports in media about Congress not inviting Narendra Modi to celebrate Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125th birthday. Many news channels held debates about this topic. Let us forget about the pros and cons of inviting but surely the question remains that why should they invite Modi when he talks about “Congress Mukta Bharat”? It is another matter that the clock has moved beyond Ten Ten and there is no harm in seeking support from the Nationalist Congress Party which was termed as Naturally Corrupt Party by Modi himself.

As I said before, Modi must now concentrate on cleaning up the bureaucracy. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that defense procurement suffered because of middlemen but where do these persons reside? They stay in Delhi itself and I have pointed it our numerous times but why the government has failed to take action against them. Modi must take his broom to the Defence Colony and other known affluent areas where these middlemen are entrenched. Training must be imparted to fire fighters on the lines of their counterparts in the US who rescued window washers at World Trade Centre which opened earlier this month. Doctors must be trained to perform simple surgical operations.
