Savitribai Phule controversy: Twitter trends #ISupportBharadwajSpeaks 2

Following his controversial tweets on Savitribai Phule, one of the most popular and well-known twitter handles, @BhardwajSpeaks, was forced to delete his account. The majority of the tweets from @BharadwajSpeaks are about Indian history and culture; they are very current and fact-based. He is frequently credited with destroying the outdated, fabricated Marxist histories of India. He has repeatedly exposed the fabrications that are propagated in India under the guise of history. No fact-checker has so far contradicted what he has written. However, his tweets caused a stir in state politics. He is known for his fearless writing about historic events and for citing primary sources for every assertion that he makes. There are many who believe that @BharadwajSpeaks has taught real history to people through social media within a couple of years than the entire NCERT pantheon of history writers might have done since Independence through schools and universities.

In a recent clarification, BhardwajSpeaks has addressed the controversy surrounding its comments about social reformer Savitribai Phule. The intention, according to the account, was solely to highlight the fact that Savitribai Phule was not the first female teacher, which was supported by references to ancient texts. BhardwajSpeaks has firmly asserted that they had no intention to defame or disparage the esteemed social figure. Savitribai Phule was an Indian social reformer, educationalist, and poet from Maharashtra. Hailed as the country’s first modern feminist, Phule was India’s first female teacher. She started teaching girls in Maharwada in Pune with Sagunabai, a revolutionary feminist and Jyotirao’s mentor. Soon, Savitribai, Jyotirao, and Sagunabai started their school at Bhide Wada. The curriculum of the school was based on western education and included mathematics, science, and social studies.

By the end of 1851, Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule were running three schools in Pune with a combined strength of approximately 150 girls. She had even organized a barbers’ strike in Mumbai and Pune to protest the custom of shaving the heads of widows. In 1873, Jyotirao founded a social reform society called Satyashodhak Samaj, and Savitribai was its active member. The community included Muslims, non-Brahmins, Brahmins, and government officials. It aimed to free women and other less privileged people from caste and gender oppressions. Along with Jyotirao, she worked tirelessly during the 1876 famine and launched 52 free food hostels in Maharashtra. The Twitter handle, BhardwajSpeaks, states that there were many female teachers who existed prior to Savitribai Phule.

Quoting from ancient texts, BhardwajSpeaks pointed out that their comment was based on factual information, intending to present a broader perspective on the historical contributions of female teachers. They maintained that their remarks were not meant to defame or undermine the significance of Savitribai Phule’s pioneering work in the fields of education and women’s rights.

Earlier, the same person had become famous with the handle @TrueIndology. However, that handle was suspended by Twitter arbitrarily. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislative assembly that the police are in touch with Twitter India to identify those behind a handle @BhardwajSpeaks that posted derogatory remarks against Savitribai Phule. The Hindu Post allegedly published derogatory articles about the 19th-century social reformer. Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, was responding to a question by the NCP’s Jitendra Awhad during Question Hour. He said the police are awaiting a reply from Twitter India, and action will be taken after the identity of those behind the handle is established. ‘Bharadwaj Speaks’ was forced to deactivate his Twitter account after receiving legal threats over a Twitter thread on the Assam-Mizoram controversy.

‘Bharadwaj Speaks’, who earlier went by the username of True Indology, took to Twitter to speak about the violent clash between the locals of Lailapur village (Cachar district) in Assam and Vairengte village (Kolasib district) in Mizoram and posted some historical facts about Mizoram. After the tweet thread, former Mizoram governor and former adviser to the Mizo National Front Swaraj Kaushal threatened to file an FIR against him, following which Bharadwaj deactivated his Twitter account. The Mumbai Police on Wednesday night registered an FIR against websites IndicTales, HinduPost, and a Twitter account, BharadwajSpeaks, for publishing and “spreading false and malicious” content against social reformer Savitribai Phule.

Savitribai Phule’s contributions to women’s empowerment, education, and social reform are widely recognized. Whenever women in education are a topic that is being discussed, it is incomplete without mentioning her contributions. Her work has inspired a large number of women to take up teaching in India and has since revolutionized the education system as a whole. Several movies, documentaries, and television dramas have been created depicting her struggles in Marathi and Kannada media. She remains one of the most influential women India as a country has ever produced and can be eternally proud of. We cannot discredit the contributions made by her towards women’s education and social awareness. The argument about whether she was the first teacher in India or not is not really irrelevant.

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar booked in Noida for making 'communal' remarks in TV debate 4

An FIR has been lodged here against Aam Aadmi Party chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on the complaint of BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, who accused her of making communal remarks during a debate on a TV channel, police said on Friday.

In his complaint to police, Poonawala alleged that Kakkar called him ”Mujahideen,” abused his faith, and made ”extremely communally loaded” remarks during a TV debate on a private channel on July 25.

”In the past too, she has made such comments on-air and off-air against my faith against Islam and against Muslims in general, such comments only reflect the poisonous and hate-filled mindset of the Aam Aadmi Party towards Muslims,” Poonawala alleged in his complaint filed on Thursday, according to police.

Responding to the allegations, Kakkar wondered if ”Mujahideen” or ”Shehzad” meant ”terrorist” and hit back at Poonawala for referring to a chief minister as ”Jihadi.” ”Does ‘Shehzad’ mean terrorist? Does ‘Mujahideen’ mean terrorist? Does ‘Shehzad Mujahideen’ mean terrorist? Is the complainant allowed to refer to a Chief Minister as ‘Jihadi’ on national media? The previous conduct of the Complainant. Is it okay to refer to a political opponent as ‘Shishu’?” Kakkar tweeted in response to a post by Poonawala on Twitter.

”@Shehzad_Ind Long fight, bro. Tough questions you will have to prove,” the AAP spokesperson added in the same tweet. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Harish Chander said, ”An FIR has been lodged under relevant provisions of the law at the Sector 20 Police Station. Further investigation in the case is underway.”

Kakkar has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 153B (imputations prejudicial to national integration), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) and 505 (public mischief).

Monsoon Session, Day 7: Stormy sessions likely again over Manipur, no-confidence motion 6

The ruckus and war of words between the Treasury and Opposition over the prevailing situation in violence-scarred Manipur may stall proceedings in both Houses of the Parliament, as they reconvene for the seventh day of the ongoing Monsoon Session on Friday. Members of the grand Opposition alliance, I.N.D.I.A, have been adamant on the demand that all listed businesses in both Houses be aside for a discussion on the Manipur situation.

They have also been insisting on a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the prevailing state of affairs in the Northeast state. The Opposition members on Friday are also likely to push for the demand that the Lok Sabha Speaker set a date for voting on the no-confidence motion against the Centre filed earlier.

The motion, on behalf of the Opposition alliance, was tabled earlier by Congress Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi. Both Houses saw stormy scenes as the Treasury and the Opposition traded barbs during a discussion on the motion on Thursday.

Further, on Thursday, most of the Opposition members arrived in the Parliament dressed in black as a mark of protest against the alleged denial of a discussion on Manipur and the postponement of a debate on the no-confidence motion. Rajya Sabha on Thursday witnessed noisy scenes almost from the beginning of the proceedings. Opposition party members raised slogans over their demand for a discussion on Manipur under Rule 287.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who made a statement on ‘Latest Developments in Foreign Policy’, faced constant interruptions as Opposition members continued raising slogans. Members in the Treasury benches countered them briefly by raising ‘Modi, Modi’ slogans.

Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, Piyush Goyal, on the symbolic protest by Opposition members wearing black clothes, said, “The members, who are wearing black clothes, can’t understand the increasing power and prestige of the country. Their future is black.” “It is unfortunate that politics is being done even on such a serious matter. This is a matter of India’s honour, a matter of India’s emerging image before the world…I think that the people who are wearing black clothes can’t understand the increasing power of the country….Their present, past and future are black. But we hope there will be light in their life too…,” he said.

The Chairman adjourned the House till 12 noon amid noisy scenes. When the House reassembled, the Chair asked the Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, to make his remarks.

However, the members from the Treasury benches raised slogans over the black clothes worn by the Opposition MPs. Objecting to the protest directed at him from the ruling benches, Kharge remonstrated, saying, “The government itself is obstructing.”

The Chair adjourned the House till 2 pm amid the ruckus. The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the absence of Opposition party members who staged a walk out over Manipur violence issue, after the House resumed at 2 pm.

In Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla took up the Question Hour but opposition members raised their demands relating to Manipur. The Speaker had on Wednesday admitted the no-confidence motion moved by opposition members. The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023, as reported by Joint Committee, was passed in Lok Sabha on Thursday after the House resumed at 3 pm amid Opposition sloganeering over the Manipur issue.

However, both Houses were later adjourned for the day on Thursday. Meanwhile, ahead of the beginning of the seventh day of the Monsoon Session, several Opposition leaders moved notices in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, seeking a debate on the Manipur issue.

In Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manickam Tagore moved Adjournment Motion Notice demanding a discussion on the Manipur situation. In the Upper House, RJP MP Manoj Kumar Jha moved Suspension of Business Notices under Rule 267, requesting the Chairman to suspend all other business listed for the day, including the Zero Hour as well as Question Hour, for a discussion on the state of affairs in the violence-hit state.

The Rajya Sabha will convene on Friday with the members extending birthday greetings to BJP MP Dineshchandra Jemalbhai Anavadiya. Apart from this, twentieth report on ‘Measures undertaken to secure representation of OBCs in employment and for their welfare in Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) and Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT)’ pertaining to Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Fertilizers); and twenty-first Report on ‘Measures undertaken to secure representation of OBCs in employment and for their welfare in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)’ pertaining to Ministry Labour and Employment are also likely to be tabled in the Upper House.

Apna Dal MP Anupriya Singh Patel is scheduled to make a statement on the status of implementation of recommendations/observations contained in the 174th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce on Demands for Grants (2022-23) (Demand No. 10) pertaining to the Department of Commerce, Ministry Commerce and Industry.

Will the BJP win the 2023 Rajasthan assembly polls with a strong mandate?

Will the BJP win the 2023 Rajasthan assembly polls with a strong mandate? 8

Rajasthan has a history of repeats every five years – five years Congress then next five years BJP. But this time there are chances of Congress getting a second term, Bharat Jodo Yatra has played a crucial role in twisting the mandate. For Congress, Sachin Pilot is creating a problem because Ashok Gehlot doesn’t find fit for the profile of CM as he is too young. Recently Gehlot said to Sachin (inki ragdai nahi hui hain) this means Sachin is immature for such a prominent profile. For BJP, Vasundhara Raje is creating a problem – Her relation with Modi and Shah is not well. During the 2018 assembly election, we heard a slogan from locals that “Modi se bair nahi Vasundhra teri Khair nahi“. This means people also want some fresh face in Rajasthan, but it is not easy to ignore Vasundhra Raje – BJP should have some plans to shift her to the Central portfolios or declare her as governor of some state. Vasundhara also wants to retire from politics after this 2024 tenure.

She may not aim for any central portfolios or any other perks, her sole wish is to rule Rajasthan for one last time. From BJP’s end, Rajya Vardhan Singh Rathore can play some role here – according to some surveys; people want him as a CM face.

Rajasthan is facing several issues such as less power to municipal parties, cold response of MLA regarding development work, corruption is rising like there is no tomorrow, also some of the policies are not being helpful for middle and small class business person, unemployment is on rise, Paper leak is big curse, exams for government jobs are not held on time etc. The biggest advantage for the BJP is the infighting in the Congress and anti-incumbency. And one key issue it has been handed on a platter is the series of exam paper leaks in the state. There have been eight such instances, and even Pilot has hit out at the government on this issue.

Rajasthan has had a tradition of voting out the incumbent Govt since 1998. Congress was the beneficiary of this trend in 2018 but by 2023 Congress would be at the receiving end of this trend. And Ashok Gehlot’s government is not very popular to break this jinx. Most of his time and energy have been wasted in firefighting disagreement led by Pilot thereby letting governance go for a toss. But soon after Bharat Jodo Yatra, things got sorted. Congress collectively tried to win, forgetting their personal issues.

When it comes to BJP in Rajasthan, Modi and Shah are not in favor of Vasundhara. Whereas Vasundhara knows the nerves of people in the state. In such circumstances BJP in Rajasthan has the issue of leadership. The BJP top brass wants to do away with Vasundhara Raje and bring new leadership. With the weakening of Vasundhara Raje, parallel power centers such as Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bhupender Yadav, Sunil Bansal, Satish Poonia have emerged in Rajasthan. There are chances that the BJP may contest the elections without declaring a chief ministerial candidate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will, as usual, be the prominent face. As the elections are being held along with those in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, a few months ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the results will be really crucial for Rajasthan too.

The biggest mistake of Vasundhara these days is her frequent visits to RSS offices. Gone are the days where the RSS chief can take any decisions for the BJP or its leaders, now he is also a puppet in the hands of powerful people.  Somehow BJP wants to change their choice of CM in the upcoming election else Congress would be ruling in Rajasthan again.

Right now, the main contenders for CM post would be Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, state BJP president Satish Poonia and Raje, among others. Despite backbiting within the BJP, it can pose a challenge if the party charts out a clear strategy that does not confuse the voters. This state is important for the BJP, particularly for Modi’s campaign, as it gave the NDA all 25 seats in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Modi has made four trips to the state in the past four months to shore up the party’s chances among various communities. Notably, he picked Dausa―part of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Sachin Pilot’s stronghold―to launch the first stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. He also went to Bhilwara to participate in the 1,111th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Devnarayan, revered by the Gurjars, who make up more than 10 percent of the state’s population. They had voted for the Congress in the last election hoping that Pilot would become chief minister.

The two recent appointees to the top constitutional posts in the country―President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar―would also help the BJP in the state. Dhankhar, as a Jat leader from Rajasthan, might get support from the community, who account for more than 12 per cent of the state’s population. The tribals, who constitute nearly 14 per cent of the population, are likely to be wooed in Murmu’s name. Rajputs make up 8 percent of the population. Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J.P. Nadda, too, have made multiple trips to the state. Nadda, who has been insisting that the party units be more agile and engage with the people, has a special bond with Rajasthan―both his daughters-in-law belong to the state.

As the polls draw closer, the focus within the BJP will be on ticket distribution. How that process goes might decide which chief minister hopeful gets how many supporters in the fracas. These supporters would be crucial when a chief minister is picked, if the BJP gets a majority. And so, before the BJP goes to polls, it has to set its own house in order and craft a clear message for the voters.

Belarusian journalist sentenced to 6 years in prison for reporting on the opposition

Belarusian journalist sentenced to 6 years in prison for reporting on the opposition 12

A prominent journalist in Belarus was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison, the latest step in a years-long crackdown on opposition figures, independent journalists and human rights activists.

On trial in the city of Grodno in western Belarus, Pavel Mazheika, 45, was found guilty of “complicity in extremist activity” for covering the activities of the political opposition.

He was accused of working for news outlets including Belsat TV, which broadcasts in Belarusian from its base in neighbouring Poland. The Belarusian authorities have labelled Belsat as “extremist.” Lawyer Yuliya Yurhilevich also was sentenced to six years in prison after she was accused of giving Mazheika information on Belarus’ political prisoners, notably on dissident artist Ales Pushkin who died in a Belarusian prison earlier this month.

Yurhilevich, 42, who practiced law for almost 18 years and defended human rights activists, was stripped of her license in February 2022.

“This is not a trial, but a theatre of the absurd – a journalist and a lawyer are being tried for disseminating information,” Mazheika said during the trial.

Mazheika is a well-known figure in Belarus. In 2002, he was sentenced to two years in jail for “slandering the president,” before becoming press secretary for presidential candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich in 2006.

Mazheika has since worked for leading independent news outlets in both Belarus and Poland, hosting several shows and acting as executive director for Belsat TV.

The journalist has spent 11 months behind bars since his arrest in August 2022. Earlier, Mazheika said that during his detention he was severely beaten by law enforcement officers, and accused them of trying to gouge out his eye.

Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is among those who have condemned Mazheika’s and Yurhilevich’s sentencing.

“Today, brave journalist Pavel Mazheika and lawyer Yulia Yurhilevich were sentenced to six years in prison in another mockery of justice in Belarus,” she said. “This is a blatant attack on those who dare to speak the truth. Journalists and lawyers are persecuted for carrying out their profession.” Journalists and activists in Belarus have faced large-scale repression since the August 2020 vote that handed a sixth term to President Alexander Lukashenko. Following the election, which was rejected as fraudulent by the opposition and the West, Belarus was swept by massive protests, some of which drew more than 100,000 people.

Authorities responded with a brutal crackdown. More than 35,000 people were arrested, thousands were beaten by police while in custody, and dozens of nongovernmental organisations and independent media outlets were shut down.

Some 1,481 recognised political prisoners are currently behind bars in Belarus, according to the Viasna human rights centre.

Coal scam: Delhi court awards 4-yr jail to ex-MP Vijay Darda, son Devender for "cheating" Centre 14

A Delhi court on Wednesday sentenced ex-Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda, his son Devender Darda, and businessman Manoj Kumar Jayaswal to four years in jail in a case related to irregularities in the allocation of a coal block in Chhattisgarh, holding that the convicts obtained the block by ”cheating” the Centre.

All three convicts were taken into custody immediately after the order of the court, which also said the prosecution is justified in saying that the loss to the nation was huge.

“Convicts Manoj Kumar Jayaswal, Vijay Darda and Devendra Darda are taken into custody and be sent to jail to serve the sentence,” the judge said.

Special Judge Sanjay Bansal also awarded three-year jail terms to ex-coal secretary H C Gupta and two former senior public servants — K S Kropha and K C Samria — in the case.

The three convicts were, however, granted bail by the court to enable them to challenge their conviction and punishment before the high court.

“The sentence of imprisonment awarded to convicts H C Gupta, K S Kropha and K C Samria shall remain suspended for a period of 45 days and they are admitted to bail upon their furnishing a personal bond and a surety bond in the sum of Rs 10,000 each for a period of 45 days,” the judge said.

The judge passed the direction on applications moved by Gupta, Kropha and Samria, seeking suspension of sentence till filing of the appeal.

He directed that the three convicts “shall not travel abroad, unless specific permission in this regard is granted by High Court.” The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh on the company, JLD Yavatmal Energy Pvt Ltd, which was also convicted in the case.

It further imposed a fine of Rs 15 lakh each on the Dardas and Jayaswal. The other three convicts were directed to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 each.

“The present case relates to allocation of a coal block. The convicts had obtained the said block by committing cheating with the Govt. of India. Prosecution is justified in saying that the loss to the nation was huge,” the judge said.

In the 13th conviction in the coal scam, the the court had on July 13 held the seven accused guilty under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC, and relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The scandal had rocked the Manmohan Singh government in 2012 after the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) panned the government for inefficient allocation of 194 coal blocks to public sector enterprises and private companies between 2004 and 2009 for captive use in a non-transparent way.

The CAG said instead of allocating the valuable natural resource, the government should have gone for competitive bidding.

During arguments on the quantum of sentence, the CBI had sought the maximum punishment of seven-year jail term for the convicts, claiming that Darda and his son had met the then CBI director Ranjit Sinha at his residence to scuttle investigations.

The Supreme Court had constituted an SIT to investigate the allegations against Sinha that he tried to influence the probe in the coal scam cases. Sinha, a 1974 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, died from Covid-related complications in 2021.

CBI’s senior public prosecutor A P Singh had claimed that a witness in the case stated he was threatened by Jayaswal, who tried to influence him to not depose against him.

The court had on November 20, 2014 refused to accept a closure report submitted by the CBI in the case and directed the federal probe agency to investigate it afresh, stating that the former MP had ”misrepresented” facts in letters written to the then prime minister, Manmohan Singh, who held the Coal portfolio.

It said Vijay Darda had done so to secure the Fatehpur (East) coal block in Chhattisgarh for JLD Yavatmal Energy Pvt Ltd.

The court further said the offence of cheating was committed by private parties in furtherance of a conspiracy hatched between them and public servants.

JLD Yavatmal Energy Pvt Ltd was allotted Fatehpur (East) coal block by the 35th Screening Committee.

The CBI had alleged in its FIR that JLD Yavatmal had wrongfully concealed previous allocation of four coal blocks to its group companies in 1999-2005, but the agency later filed a closure report, saying no undue benefit was extended to JLD Yavatmal by the coal ministry in allocation of coal blocks.

The CAG initially estimated a massive loss of Rs 10.6 lakh crore to the exchequer in the coal allocation scam but its final report tabled in Parliament had put the figure at Rs 1.86 lakh crore.

Extra marital affairs with enemy country men are a new trend?

extra marital affair india pakistan
Extra marital affairs with enemy country men are a new trend? 16

We have seen many celebrity women marrying Pakistani men, like tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistan cricketer husband Shoaib Malik. Reena Roy with her husband Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan, none of these marriages last long, though. Rayaan, a Gujarati from Mumbai and Habiba, from Karachi, married in Dubai. Sonya Jehan (grand-daughter of famous Pakistani singer, Noor Jehan who was also known as Malkai Taranum). Sonya did creative roles in Bollywood and Lollywood as well. She is currently living in Mumbai, India and got married to an Indian banker Vivek Narain. There are so many such couples who went across the border to marry their love. But those cases remained as one day news and people did not mind much because all such people have some social and national stand. But in the recent past, Pakistan men are luring Indian women and Indian men are getting in relation with Pakistani women. Social media makes it easy for these people. Such relationships really have no life but still some of them made headlines for months.

Seema Haider, a 27-year-old married mother of four from Sindh, Pakistan, connected with Indian man Sachin Meena, a 22-year-old unmarried shopkeeping assistant from India while playing the online shooting game PUBG during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Seema Haider’s unnoticed entry into India and her unconventional love affair have sparked fascination among many. Here, we bring you all the details about the ‘love story’ of the couple from arch-rival countries. The news is yet to settle and there is another story, that a 34-year-old married Indian woman named Anju from Bhiwadi in the Alwar district of Rajasthan had gone to Pakistan to meet her lover.

Social media and game apps have a common platform for these lovers to get connected. Indian men fall for Pakistani women especially girls from Punjab and Peshawar. They are very sweet, beautiful, delicate looking, kind, gentle and with beautiful eyes. They like their style of speaking in refined Urdu and how they are talented in speaking multiple languages with different writing styles. Pakistani Men like Indian women because they find them more bold, extravagant and outgoing. Much more frank than Pakistan’s conservative females. There are many such reasons but love knows nothing, it knows the way to the heart and it finds the way to reach each other.

Anju, who was born in UP’s small town kailor was a resident of Rajisthan’s Bhiwadi where she used to work as a data entry operator in a private company. Her family consisted of her husband Arvind and two children with whom she used to live in a rented home. Anju’s first marriage was not very exciting and she was married at a very young age and her husband was also not so well to do. Anju was finally independent and because of that little dominance too. On social media she was approached by a medical professional man called Nasrullah. They both had common interest and profession, initially they were not so much into each other but during COVID both were out of work and had sufficient time, their love story began in lockdown period.

They used to talk to each other for hours, Anju and her lover met several times by some or other means.  This time Anju has entered Pakistan on a month-long medium-term visa by carrying all required legal documents with her. She reached Pakistan and informed her husband that she is in Lahore. Looking at husband’s interviews we can guess that this is some plot or mutual story to counter Seema Haider’s story. Her Pakistani lover with the help of Pakistani agencies might have given the family some huge perks to do all this drama. She might be in love with her Pakistani man but her going to Pakistan cannot be just coincidence to match with Seema Haider. Anju’s husband Arvind revealed that, unlike Seema Haider, Anju had all the necessary documents with her and had legally entered Pakistan.

Anju was in touch with this Pakistani guy Nasrullah with whom she used to chat on a daily basis over social media apps. Anju entered Pakistan through Atari border on or around 21 July. Anju married to her 29-year-old lover Nasrullah and informed that the marriage was solemnised after Anju accepted Islam and willingly signed the Nikahnama at a district court. Interestingly, Anju previously dropped a video soon after reaching Pakistan in which she said that she is just there for explorations purpose and will return soon. In the two-minute-long video, the data entry operator said that she has legally visited Pakistan and will be coming back to India in 2 to 3 days. By the end of her video, she also requests the media and authorities not to cause any inconvenience to her children and relatives. However, after her recent marriage with her Pakistani lover, the chances of Anju coming back to her husband appear extremely slim.

Whereas Seema Haider is trying her level best to seek refuge in India with her children, she is requesting the government not to send her back, her shop assistant lover is pleading through media to let her love blossom in India and he is willing to take care of children and his newly found wife. Both the stories look funny and hard to believe but the over hype by media has made these issues larger than what it seems to be. Respective Medias might be running hundreds of hate mongering shows against India and Pakistan, but the lovers find only love.

Home department gives nod for 3000 contractual police recruitments 18

To tackle the shortage of police personnel and overburdening the department, the Maharashtra government has decided to recruit 3,000 employees on a contractual basis from the Maharashtra State Security Corporation.

This decision has faced disagreement from opposition parties. Meanwhile, former home minister Anil Deshmukh emphasized the issue of missing girls and women in the state, with 19,553 cases reported in the first five months of 2023.

According to the home department, the Mumbai police force has a sanctioned strength of 40,623, of which around 10,000 posts of constables and drivers are vacant. While the ongoing recruitment drive will fill 7,076 posts of constables and 994 drivers, there will be a shortage of around 3,000 constables.

Meanwhile, Opposition parties have conflicted with contract recruitment in the police force. Leader of the opposition in state legislative council Ambadas Danve said, “Youth of the state have been facing unemployment. Instead of giving government jobs to youths in the police department, why does the government want to recruit personnel on a contract basis? It is a totally wrong decision and the police recruited directly as government servants and should be recruited in due process.”

“The 7,076 constables to be recruited will take at least two years to join the force as they will have to undergo training. Until then, the Mumbai police commissioner has been empowered to recruit 3,000 constables from the MSSC on contract for 11 months,” the order said.

According to Pravin Dixit, the former DGP of Maharashtra, the new hires “will not be joining the police force permanently; rather, they will be working for Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) under an 11-month contract until the actual recruited candidates for the police force return from their training. As required, these contractual candidates will be assigned to banks, metro stations, and other locations.”

A home department official said, “This will help us to fulfil the shortage of the constables in the wake of the heavy chunk of diverted for VVIP bandobast. We are recruiting the personnel from the MSSC following the due process. The process has to be undertaken by Mumbai CP and director general of the MSSC.”

Additional chief secretary Sujata Saunik said, “The decision was taken as per the demand of the Mumbai police commissioner. This has been the third such decision of the Eknath Shinde government to recruit employees on a contract basis. Last year, the government appointed six agencies to recruit technical experts and temporary staff from the open market. Last month, the school education department allowed the recruitment of retired teachers in district council schools until 13,000 newly-recruited teachers joined the service.”

Former home minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh, through a point of information raised in the legislative Assembly, alleged that 19,553 girls and women have gone missing in the first five months of 2023. He said that earlier information was of 5,610 women that had gone missing from January to May 2023, but as per the revised information the figure is 19,553.

Responding to it, Assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar directed the state government to look into the matter. Earlier, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had said on July 16, “95% of these women have come back home and the percentage is highest in the country.”

CBI seizes Rs 1 crore during searches against crypto fraudsters impersonating Canadian govt officials 20

The CBI seized about Rs 1 crore in cash during its searches at the premises of alleged fraudsters impersonating Canadian government officials who coerced their victims into transferring their assets to cryptocurrency on the pretext of providing technical support, officials said on Wednesday.

The CBI received inputs about the alleged fraud from the Canadian authorities, following which it registered a case on May 11, they said.

The CBI worked on local intelligence and conducted surveillance on the basis of inputs, and a search operation was initiated on Tuesday at the premises of two accused — Sahil Pal and Ashish Bhambani, the officials said.

”CBI conducted searches at different places at the premises of the accused in an ongoing investigation of a case related to Crypto frauds. During searches, a cash of Rs 1 crore (approximately) was recovered from the premises of an accused,” a CBI spokesperson said.

It was alleged that the accused were impersonating government officials in Canada and utilising this facade to execute their fraudulent activities, the agency said.

”Their modus operandi involved providing fake technical support consultation to unsuspecting victims and then coercing them into transferring cryptocurrency funds. These ill-gotten cryptocurrency assets were subsequently routed through multiple crypto wallets, ultimately ending up in the perpetrators’ own crypto accounts,” the spokesperson said.
