MLC Manisha Kayande shocked Uddhav by joining Eknath Shinde's Sena 2

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Manisha Kayande rippled UTB Sena by joining CM Shinde’s Shiv Sena late Sunday. Earlier in the day, following reports of her shift, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party sacked her as party spokesperson for anti-party activities. Kayande is the second MLC to join the Shinde faction after Viplav Bajoria in February. Sena UBT’s strength in the 78-member council (21 of the 78 seats are vacant) has come down to 10.

Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat, who had quit Sena (UBT) to join the CM’s party and resigned as deputy leader told Afternoon Voice “There are many MLAs, corporators and office-bearers who want to join the Shinde’s group. Some of them will join within two days and others in the coming week. The real Shiv Sainik will support Bala Saheb’s Sena, they will not support Uddhav and his family”.

Another MLA who is soon join Shinde said “In spite of all these developments Uddhav Thackrey and his son Aditya have not mend their ways, they are never available for workers and their arrogance is way beyond tolerance”.

Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said “MLC Manisha Kayande leaving UTB Sena will not make any difference to the party, she is an “opportunist butterfly”, “These people are selfish and had nothing to do with the Shiv Sena. They came for selfish reasons and went for selfish reasons. It was our mistake in identifying such people. From now on, we will take care that this doesn’t happen…These exits won’t have any impact on the Sena (UBT).”

Kayande had lost the 2009 assembly polls from Sion on a BJP ticket. She later joined the then undivided Shiv Sena in 2012. She was also on the BMC’s education committee. More people from the Thackeray faction will also join us,” said MLA Sanjay Shirsat, who had quit the Shiv Sena (UBT) to join the CM’s party Saturday. Till date, 40 of the 56 Sena (UBT) MLAs and two MLCs have switched over to the Shinde faction. Viplav Bajoria was the first Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC to switch loyalty and the Shiv Sena’s bid to get him appointed as whip was seen as Shinde’s attempt to break the UBT’s grip in the state legislative council.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Sunday that no Muslim in India is a descendant of Aurangzeb, and nationalist Muslims in the country do not recognize the Mughal emperor as their ruler. Fadnavis also said that there is only one king, and that is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Muslims also respect him.

“Our king is only Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We cannot have another king. Muslims in India are not descendants of Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb and his clan came from outside,” A Muslim in this country who has national ideas never approves of Aurangzeb. He respects only Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” Devendra Fadnavis while addressing a public rally in Maharashtra’s Akola.

The public rally was organised by the BJP in commemoration of PM Narendra Modi-led government completing nine years in the Centre. Earlier on Thursday, June 8, tension simmered in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur after some youth allegedly posted objectionable posts on social media with a reference to Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis slammed supporters of the erstwhile Mughal ruler. “Suddenly, in some districts of Maharashtra, sons of Aurangzeb took birth. They keep the status of Aurangzeb and show their posters. Because of this, there are tensions. Questions arise, where do these sons of Aurangzeb come from? Who are behind this? We will find this out,” said Fadnavis while talking to ANI in Nagpur.

Don't vote for 'illiterate' and those with fake degrees next time: Kejriwal in poll-bound Rajasthan 9

On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal said ”illiterate people” are running the government at the Centre and urged voters not to pick those with ‘fake degrees’ next time.

Addressing a rally in the Sriganganagar district of poll-bound Rajasthan, he said as a kid, he had heard politicians saying that India would become a developed country in 20 years. He said he had also heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in which the latter said India would become a developed nation by 2047.

”How can we trust your talk? They (the centre) are telling lies. They do not know anything. Today, illiterate people are running the government at the Centre,” Kejriwal said. He further said, ”If there were literate people in the central government, they would not have brought demonetisation and farm laws. When you vote for the next time, do one thing, vote for literate people. Do not vote for those who are illiterate and have fake degrees.”

The Delhi chief minister further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) feel offended because he is ”literate, an engineer and was an IRS officer”. He said he has plans to make India top country in the world in 10 years.

Kejriwal also narrated the story of an illiterate king who ruined the entire country, thus emphasising the need to have a literate king to run the state of affairs. He hit out at the BJP and the Congress rule, saying both parties have looted Rajasthan and the country.

Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is trying to make inroads in Rajasthan where polls are slated at the end of this year.

Shiv Sena (UBT) removes MLC Kayande as party spokesperson ahead of her cross-over to Shiv Sena 11

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena on Sunday sacked party MLC Manisha Kayande from the post of the party spokesperson for anti-party activities, a functionary said. The action comes as Kayande is set to join the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday night.

”Kayande is not being expelled from Shiv Sena (UBT). She is being removed as the spokesperson for anti-party activities,” the Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary said.

Earlier, Viplove Bajoria became the first MLC of Shiv Sena (UBT) who had joined the Shinde camp months ago.

If Kayande leaves the Thackeray camp, it will be a second jolt to the party in two days.

On Saturday, former MLA Shishir Shinde resigned from the Thackeray-led faction.

Shiv Sena spokesperson and MLA Sanjay Shirsat told reporters on Sunday afternoon that Kayande along with many others will join the party in the presence of CM Shinde.

Shirsat did not name Shishir Shinde but claimed many more leaders will join the CM-led party.

Kayande is a member of the state Legislative Council and her term expires on July 27, 2024. She is an MLC from the Legislative Assembly quota.

Supriya Sule calls her brother Ajit Pawar a mega star of politics 13

Supriya Sule, a newly-appointed NCP working president, flattered her brother Ajit Pawar by issuing a statement that he is the Amitabh Bachchan of Maharashtra politics.

Sule’s statement shoulders importance as there has been rumour in political circles after her appointment as party working president that Ajit Pawar has been side-lined, especially as Sule has been given responsibility of Maharashtra and also been appointed head of the central election authority.

Ajit Pawar himself clarified in the wake of Sule’s appointment that he had proposed her name for the working president’s post and that he was not interested in national politics but in state politics.

A senior NCP leader told Afternoon Voice, “The media is printing and issuing all sorts of gossip, but in reality it is Ajit Pawar who suggested Supriya’s name for the post of president. The siblings absolutely have no problem, and everything is fine in the party and family.”

From July Housing society members can file complaints on dedicated portal 15

Beginning in the first week of July, the Housing Society Cooperation Department will launch a portal for members of state housing societies to register their complaints on the cooperation department’s grievance redress portal.

A cooperation commissioner, Anil Kawade, said the testing of the portal is in the final stages and it will be open to the public by the end of the month or by the first week of July.

“This will allow housing society members to sit in the comfort of their own homes and register their complaints on the dedicated web portal.” The complainant must enter area-specific information, which will then be assigned to the appropriate deputy registrar. “The official must respond to the complaint within a certain time frame,” Kawade added.

Currently, over 1,500 complaints are filed at the deputy registrar’s offices each month. The cities with the most complaints are Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik, and Aurangabad.

The members will have to log into the online portal and enter their personal communication details along with the society information and the complaint in short. They will also have the option of uploading PDF documents in support of their complaints.

1 killed in stone pelting on police in Gujarat's Junagadh during an anti-encroachment drive 17

According to police, one person was killed in clashes that erupted in Gujarat’s Junagadh district on Friday night, with a large group of people pelting stones at police personnel after civic body officials served a notice to a dargah to present documents or face removal of an alleged encroachment.

Junagadh Municipal Corporation served a notice to the dargah asking it to present its documents within five days. Angered by the alleged anti-encroachment drive, 500-600 people gathered around the dargah situated near the Majewadi Gate and pelted stones at police officials, vandalised property, and set police vehicles on fire.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Junagadh, Ravi Teja Vasamsetty, told ANI, “A mosque near Majewadi Gate was given notice by the Junagadh Municipal Corporation to present documents within five days. Around 500-600 people gathered there yesterday. The police were trying to convince protestors not to block the road.”

“Stones were pelted at around 10.15 pm and people attacked police. A lathicharge was conducted by police to disperse the crowd. Some police personnel were injured in this incident. We have rounded up 174 people. A civilian has died prima facie due to stone pelting, but it will be clear after a postmortem report. Further investigation is underway,” the SP said.

"Trying to destroy history...": Sanjay Raut after Centre renames Nehru Memorial Museum and Library 19

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the central government for renaming the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society and said that BJP-led centre is trying to “destroy history”. The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society have been renamed as Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society.

While talking to mediapersons, Sanjay Raut said, “I agree that the contribution of other PMs should be shown. A section can be made where contributions of other PMs can be displayed but there is no need to change the museum’s name.” Sanjay Raut accused the Central Government of messing with the country’s history, saying, “Pandit Nehru’s name could have been retained in the Prime Minister Museum. Pandit Nehru was our first Prime Minister and he had a great contribution. They are trying to destroy history that’s all.”

While talking to ANI, Congress leader Gourav Vallabh said, “They think that removing the name of Jawaharlal Nehru from the board will diminish his personality. People of the country consider Nehru ji as the architect of modern India. I would like to remind Modi ji about a statement by Vajpayee ji – ‘chhote mann se koi bada nahi ban payega’. You are displaying your petty mindset before the country. You will remove Pandit Nehru’s name from the board but how will you remove him from the hearts of the people?” The Culture Ministry said on Friday that it had been decided to change the name of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society to Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society. The decision was taken at a special meeting of the Memorial Museum and Library Society presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Vice-President of the Society.

This project was approved by Executive Council, NMML in its 162nd meeting held in November 2016. The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya was opened to the public on April 21 last year. During the inauguration, despite receiving an invitation from the government, no member of the Nehru-Gandhi family was present for the function. Three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family including Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have served as Prime Ministers of the country.

The Culture Ministry release said that the Museum is a seamless blend which begins at the renovated and refurbished Nehru Museum building, “now completely updated with technologically advanced displays on the life and contribution of Jawaharlal Nehru”. “Housed in a new building the museum then goes on to tell the story of how our Prime Ministers navigated the nation through various challenges and ensured all-round progress of the country. It recognizes all the Prime Ministers, thereby democratizing the institutional memory,” the release said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on Friday slammed Congress over its remarks on the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library as Prime Minister’s Museum and Library Society and said that its inability to accept that there are leaders beyond “one dynasty” is a classic example of “political indigestion”. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday slammed the Centre and said that the move shows the “cheap mentality and dictatorial attitude” of the BJP and RSS.

“Classic example of political indigestion- the inability to accept a simple fact that there are leaders beyond one dynasty who have served and built our nation. PM Sangrahalaya is an effort beyond politics and Congress lacks the vision to realise this,” Nadda tweeted. In a series of tweets Nadda further said, “In PM Sangrahalaya, every PM has got respect. The section relating to Pandit Nehru hasn’t been altered.”

“On the contrary, its prestige has been enhanced. For a party which ruled India for over 50 years, their pettiness is really tragic. It’s also the reason people are rejecting them,” he further said. BJP president further alleged that Congress’s aim and only contribution is to erase the legacies of all previous PMs. “Congress’s approach to this issue is ironical considering their party’s only contribution is to erase the legacies of all previous PMs to ensure that only the legacy of one family survives,” Nadda tweeted.
