The city has been experiencing continuous rains since Saturday night with the spell reduced to a drizzle on Monday.

Centre to develop Doyang Lake for bird watchers: Prakash Javadekar

Doyang Lake in Nagaland, famous as a roosting site for longest travelling raptors Amur Falcons, will be developed as an eco-tourism spot for bird-watchers, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today said.

“Centre will soon develop Doyang Lake area as eco-tourism spot for bird-watchers to have a wonderful and rare sight of Amur Falcons, which come to roost every year at Doyang lake during their flight from Mongolia to South Africa,” the Minister, who was enthused by the sight of millions of Amur falcons in just 30 minutes of his visit, said.

With two of the three Amur falcons tagged with satellite tracking chips last year returning to Nagaland, the Minister declared that four or five other birds from other roosting in Nagaland will also be tagged.

The two falcons – named Naga and Pangti tagged in 2013 have already made two rounds from Mongolia to South Africa via Nagaland and have again returned to Nagaland this year.

The Minister said, “Today, the world has recognised Pangti village in Nagaland as the world’s Amur Falcon capital, as more than one million birds can be seen in just 30 minutes. It is a very rare and exciting sight.”

Swamy alleges Rahul Gandhi a ‘British national’, asks PM to strip him of Indian citizenship

In yet another explosive revelation, BJP’s firebrand leader Subramanian Swamy claims of having proof which shows Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is a ‘British national’.

Alleging that Rahul Gandhi had declared himself as a British citizen (2003-2009) in order to float a private company in London, Swamy has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the government to strip the Congress VP of his Indian citizenship.

“Have written a letter to PM Modi, enclosing authenticated documents regarding registration in 2003 of a private company in Britain. Company’s name – BLACKOPS LIMITED- , Director – Rahul Gandhi who declared himself to be British national in registration papers,” Swamy said releasing the copy of his letter to PM at a press conference on Monday.

“As per article 9 of Indian constitution, any Indian citizen cannot acquire dual citizenship,” he added.

Swamy further said that he will also write a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker soon requesting her to refer the matter to the Committee on Ethics for appropriate action.

The Congress, however, sought to dismiss Swamy’s charges. Party spokesperson Ajay Maken said, “It has been the habit of Subramanian Swamy to make silly statements in order to try and seek some publicity whenever he is sidelined. Nobody takes his statements seriously.”

Nitish Katara murder: SC rejects Delhi government’s appeal seeking death penalty for killers

Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Delhi government’s plea seeking death penalty for the killers of Nitish Katara.

The apex court, while passing the order, refused to accept the plea of victim’s mother Neelam Katara as a ‘rarest of rare’ crime.

“What they (Yadavs) did cannot be condoned, but it (the offence) is not so heinous and abhorring that warrants death,” a bench of justices JS Khehar and R Banumathi said.

Today’s SC ruling helped Vikas and Vishal Yadav, serving 30 years jail term for brutally killing Nitish Katara in 2002, escape death penalty.

The bench, which had recently dismissed the special leave petitions of Vikas, Vishal and Sukhdev Pehalwan against the Delhi High Court verdict in the case, did not agree with the submission of senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for Neelam Katara, that the two convicts deserved death penalty.

“I don’t see it as honour killing,” the bench observed at the outset when Salve opened arguments on the plea seeking enhancement of the sentence, saying that the high court had held it as the honour killing.

“I am asking for death penalty,” the senior lawyer said, adding that the convicts, who were educated and hailed from “good families”, had killed the youth in pre-meditated and brutal manner and mutilated the body before burning it.

The court said that the convicts’ sister Bharti Yadav had even gone to the victim’s house to deliver the invitation card of her sister’s wedding and it cannot be said that the family of the convicts did not approve the relationship.

Perhaps, the “trigger” was the moment when the convicts saw her dancing with Nitish and took him away and killed him, the court said, adding that every murder is brutal but it is difficult to say it is “abhorring”.

“It was just a murder. That is it… They (convicts) have also suffered the sentence for 16 years,” it said, adding that the manner of disposal of the body fell under the IPC provision dealing with destruction of evidence.

Eliminate terrorism from the world

Paris has undergone a very horrific experience of mindless killing by ISIS that needs to be tackled urgently. Such incidents should be prevented. All European union countries like Turkey, Russia, USA must work in unison to finish this menance, whatever may be the cost. There is no one-upmanship between Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin. Barack Obama has proved to be the weakest and most worthless leader the US ever had. He has been considered as the weakest of U.S Presidents by several world leaders.

Considering our preparedness, a limited conscription is a must. We can utilise the services of these agitating veterans to impart training to youth in military discipline and arms training. The meritorious candidates can then be further trained for employment in the central civil services. Our leadership must realise that we can’t seek help now. Can you expect any assistance from China and Pakistan? Therefore, the world must unite to fight terrorism.

Have you ever heard Narendra Modi ever say you get yourself trained, work hard and the nation will develop? Good days will definitely come. Human resource mobilization is the biggest challenge for us, which, neither the RSS nor the BJP is talking about.

Have you ever heard a sentence from Modi or Rajnath Singh about controlling rising population? Is it necessary to undertake any foreign visit to implement this task? Most of the artisans in the country are Muslims who are discriminated on religious grounds. Who weaves Varanasi sarees? Therefore it is necessary that we must practice religious tolerance. Follow your teachers, parents, well-wishing friends and use your common sense. How will you make in India? The products manufactured in the nation should be of better quality and cheap. Stop demanding “acche din”. Demand “acche trainers”, even if they have to be brought from Japan, Germany and Russia etc. Training must be imparted to youth so that they can acquire skills which will enable them to find employment and set up their own workshops. Do you think Sakshi Maharaj, Yogi Adityanath and Sadhvi Pragya Thakur will mend their ways and avoid making irresponsible statements? It is necessary to ignore them and concentrate on your work.

Justin-BieberSinger Justin Bieber, who was in tears in an emotional outburst on stage, shared that he had lost his “purpose”, but he’s now “happy”. He is convinced that there’s “light at the end of the tunnel”.

During a performance last week, the ‘Baby’ star wept onstage while hosting a fan live question and answer session, reports dailymail.co.uk.

The 21-year-old star appeared to find the candid experience and the support from his fans slightly overwhelming during the evening, which also saw him perform tracks from his latest album “Purpose”.

Addressing his tears on Twitter following the gig, the ‘Sorry’ hit maker gushed: “You guys just got me crying. Damn. I missed this and u. Thank u so much. Thank you. #Purpose.”

Bieber, who vowed to combat his public temper tantrums, discussed his vandalism case as well as dealing with some attendees throwing objects including a smartphone onto the stage.

One excited fan told the baseball hat wearing star that she skipped school to attend the event and asked him for a photo.

He said: “I would say school is important, but this is probably a little more important,” joked the singer, and said: “Stay in school, kids”.

Bieber, who briefly removed his hat to reveal his peroxided hair, answered affirmatively to both questions, telling the audience: “I’m happy overall, I’m a little stressed out, but I’m happy. I’m just being honest.”

He also explained his state of mind after he damaged a neighbour’s house with eggs and was sentenced to community service.

“I just felt like I lost my place for a while. I lost my purpose, and I wanted to just be light and let people know that whether you don’t feel like you have a purpose, whether you’re just trying to figure it out, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

Daniel Radcliffe’s advice to ‘Star Wars’ actors ‘Just enjoy it’

Daniel-RadcliffeHaving been the face of a franchise like “Harry Potter”, actor Daniel Radcliffe has only one advice for the young actors of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and that is to enjoy it.

When asked what advice the 26-year-old star would give to stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, Radcliffe told Entertainment Tonight, “Just enjoy it. There’s some weird thing that I think people feel about franchises, where they’re like, ‘You do that so you can do other cool work.’

“Franchises are fun! You get to do stuff in franchises that you don’t get to do when you’re doing little indie movies. You get to do stunt sequences and crazy action stuff. It’s a lot of fun!”

Ridley and Boyega, both 23, star as two of the main characters in “The Force Awakens”, which also features the return of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.

After that they will start work on “Episode VIII”, directed by Rian Johnson, and are expected to come back for “Episode IX” for director Colin Trevorrow.

“The Force Awakens” releases on December 18.

Preity, 40, who met Rani at a recent Diwali bash and posted a selfie with the pregnant actress on Twitter, said the reports mentioned the decade wrong.

“Rani and I worked in movies in 2000 & every 2 years after that. So technically I guess everyone has got the decade wrong. Isn’t that strange?,” she posted on Twitter.

The duo shared screen space in a string of films including “Chori Chori Chupke Chupke” (2001), “Veera Zaara” (2004) and “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” (2006).
