Munawar Faruqui A Comedian Who Belongs To Muslim Community

manuwar faruqui, rhea chakraborty, faruqui, arrest, madhya pradesh, comedian

Gujarat born comedian, not much famous but he has his own wounds to express hilariously. Munawar Faruqui has chosen a well-negotiated path to express the anger, hate, and pain that he had gone through due to riots. He has made fun of Lord Rama and Sita in one of his shows, trust me I am a solemn Hindu and Lord Rama worshipper, my father named me Vaidehi just because we have our own temple of Rama but I was not hurt by his comedy. The reason I was laughing at the Hindi song that he mentioned, yes, the songwriter should be equally guilty. Those who appreciated his comedy were called Hindu-hating liberals. Somewhere by doing Hindu-Muslim hate-mongering, we have forgotten to take things jokily. Well, I also agree that he should have equally made fun of Prophet Mohamad too, as there are many laughable stories on him, but this time he would not have beaten but beheaded.

In a very pre-planned strategy, he was invited to Madhya Pradesh. The attackers precisely booked the tickets for his show. Rest you all know what happened. The question is that, will he stop making jokes which end up hurting the fragile sentiments of so many people? To be honest, he cracks jokes on Burkha, Tripple Talaq, and on other things related to Islam as well. I’ve been watching his videos for months and haven’t seen him abusing Hindu Deities. He cracks jokes I admit but jokes are not much offensive unless you follow religious politics having fragile sentiments. Moreover, he puts a disclaimer stating “This video has occasional use of strong language”. If you’re this fragile then why do you watch his jokes? Why do you attend his standup shows? Simply Ignore. You should know eighty percent of his viewers are Hindu, hardly any Muslin goes to watch his comedy. Who should be blamed? Is this an attack on the personal liberty of an Indian citizen in the name of religion? As he is vocal against the central government. Hence, some local thug aka workers of a particular political party first attended his show and then created a scene for cracking jokes in some of his old shows.

In Madhya Pradesh’s show, he did not make any offensive comments. The irony is that the people supporting his arrest are the same people who appreciated and supported France President on the hold of Blasphemy but when it comes to their religion, they suddenly became fragile. Hindus are actually “ToLeRaNt” until someone is cracking jokes on their religion. These are the same people who make fun of Islam and Prophet Mohammad, if you recollect the Bangalore incident, some of the BJP workers made derogatory remarks of Islam and incited riots. But we were with rioters because he gave us sadist pleasure by attacking our self-assumed religious rival. Section 295A in The Indian Penal Code (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) should be scratched out and everyone should get the freedom of speech.

Well, Munawar handled the situation gracefully, apologized for the video he made four years back. The complaint was filed by the BJP leader’s son in law. His religion was referred to various times. If this were only about Hindu Gods, why bring up his religion? If this has nothing to do with his religion, why is Charlie Hebdo brought up in every discussion related to this case? Why did the goon falsely accuse Muslims of not being tolerant? These arguments weren’t required if this had nothing to do with Munawar’s religion. The dictators have always been afraid of comedians. It is like a Nazi-state where people will dig your past and attack you years later. As a result, he has become (in)famous.

Farooqui had to delete his Twitter account. The same people applauding France for their tough stand on Freedom of Speech are suppressing speech in their own nation. The reason, in both cases, the target is from the Muslim community. We have cases like Charlie Hebdo every month in India. Right-wing supported Charlie Hebdo but not the victims of lynching. They were garlanded and got the first-row seat in the political rally. We should learn to respect artists. If you want to use regressive laws to harass someone, don’t stop the show. You have no right to disrupt a show. A counter-complaint should be filed against the goons for disruption and not letting a person carry on its service. No one gives a damn about your selective sentiments. If you have a problem, don’t watch his show. If you can’t tolerate people like him, get stronger. You are not any better than people who call out to lynch people or kill people for hurting religious sentiments. If you all want to continue doing this, then stop talking about Arab Nations, Pakistan. You are the one pushing for the same ideology in your own country. As a common man of India who is not a member of the secular-liberal gang, I demand equal punishment and condemnation for all such incidences by one and all.

What Is Their Crime? Munawar Faruqui: Freedom Is Not Absolute

manuwar faruqui, Munawar Faruqui, rhea chakraborty, rhea, chakraborty, arrest, madhya pradesh, mpMunawar Faruqui, a resident of Gujarat, was arrested on Saturday along with four others for allegedly making indecent remarks against Hindu deities and against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a show held at a cafe in 56 Dukan area of Indore on January 1.

The complaint was filed against them by Eklavya Singh Gaur, 36, son of local BJP legislator Malini Laxman Singh Gaur. Court denies bail to comedian arrested in Indore for “Insulting” Hindu Gods. A court in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore rejected the bail plea of stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui and Nalin Yadav. After hearing arguments of both sides, Additional District and Sessions Court judge Yatindra Kumar Guru rejected the bail plea of Munawar Faruqui and Nalin Yadav.

On January 2, the court of chief judicial magistrate rejected the bail plea of the comedian, Nalin Yadav, and three others. Anshuman Shrivastava, the lawyer for Munawar Faruqui and Nalin Yadav, said that the allegations levelled against his clients are “vague” in nature. He said the two were booked under political pressure.

He said Munawar Faruqui and Nalin Yadav are actors and didn’t make any comment that hurt the religious feelings of any person. Opposing the bail plea, prosecution lawyer Vimal Mishra said both the accused had participated in the event for which no permission was taken from local administration amid the pandemic. Mishra said indecent remarks were made against Hindu deities at the event, which he claimed was “full of obscenity despite the presence of minor boys and girls among the audience.”

The other arrested people were identified as Edwin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, and Priyam Vyas.

One more person was arrested later for taking part in the programme, the police had said. The police had booked five accused under sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), section 269 (unlawful or negligent act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) and other provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Gaur said he and his associates had gone to the show as an audience, where the comedian made the remarks. They objected to his comments and created a ruckus over them. They also forced the event to stop.

Rhea Chakraborty unable to get a house on rent

After so many media trials and too much witch hunting, no one is risking giving a house to Rhea and her family, said the broker in Bandra. He also said, so far, they have seen hundreds of houses through various brokers, some are not in their budget and some are denying them the house on rent.

Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik, two were spotted in public for the first time since their release from jail for house hunting in Bandra. Last week, their parents, Indrajit and Sandhya, checked out some apartments in Bandra and Khar. Looks like the Chakrabortys are keen to move out of their Juhu Tara Road home and start afresh. Rhea had been in jail for nearly a month on drug-related charges linked to the Sushant Singh Rajput death case investigation.

Rhea was arrested by the NCB on September 9 in a drug case linked to her boyfriend, actor Sushant’s death. The actress was granted bail on October 7, 2020. Her brother Showik continued to remain under custody for a longer period. He was granted bail on December 2.

Rajesh Tope over celebs flouting covid 19 norms 1

A day after Mumbai Police lodged an FIR against Bollywood actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan for allegedly violating the COVID-19 institutional quarantine norms, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday said nobody is above law and everyone should follow the protocols. Talking to reporters Tope said it is the duty of an ”ideal citizen” to strictly follow rules and regulations in the current pandemic situation.

The police on Monday registered a case against Arbaaz Khan, his brother Sohail Khan and the latter’s son Nirvaan Khan for allegedly violating the COVID-19 institutional quarantine norms, officials earlier said. As per guidelines, the three were asked to stay at a hotel in suburban Bandra after they returned to Mumbai from the UAE last month, but they went to their homes instead.

Asked whether the state health department would initiate or recommend any action against celebrities for violating the quarantine protocols, Tope said, ”We will take measures against it.” He, however, did not specify any measures.

Tope further said, ”Nobody is above law. Every person should adhere to the protocols laid down by the government. It is the duty of an ideal citizen to strictly follow rules and regulations in the current pandemic situation.” The police have registered the case against the Khan trio under Indian Penal Code Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease), and provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act.

Rakesh Wadhawan – His Underworld And Politics Nexus Came To An End

wadhawan hdil

Rakesh Kumar K. Wadhawan founded Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. Presently; he is Executive Chairman at this company and Chairman of HDIL Infra Projects Pvt Ltd. (a subsidiary of Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd.). Wadhawan is also on the board of 16 other companies. He is a builder who always sat on the laps of politicians and ruled them by funding elections and in turn earning SRA projects. The dedicated bankruptcy court has directed the resolution professional (RP) of Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) to provide all the notices and relevant documents to the promoters of the company in the jail and has also directed the superintendent of the jail to make an arrangement of video conferencing for them to attend the Committee of Creditors (CoC) meetings. The Mumbai-bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), while ruling in the plea led by Rakesh and Sarang Wadhawan, promoters of HDIL, however, observed that in the case of sharing confidential documents, the lenders can take decisions based on their commercial understanding. Currently, Rakesh Wadhawan is in judicial custody in the Arthur Road central prison, along with his son Sarang Wadhawan, in alleged connection with the Rs 6,670-crore Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank scam. They were arrested on October 3 last year by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police after they were named in the FIR registered by the Reserve Bank of India on September 30. Subir Kumar, an advocate representing Wadhawans, cornered the development but refused to divulge any details since the matter is sub judice.

Once upon a time Rakesh Wadhawan, owner of Dheeraj builders ruled Mumbai slums with the help of underworld kingpins and politicians. Kripashankar Singh of the National Congress party was very close to him. Kripashankar was a minister of state in the 2004 Maharashtra state cabinet. He was involved in the Congress gains in Mumbai against Shiv Sena in the 2009 Maharashtra assembly elections. He was the president of the Mumbai chapter of the party until June 2011, when he resigned after his son was linked to the 2G case, an enormous telecommunications corruption scandal of 2010. In the 2008–09 period, several accounts held by Kripashankar’s wife Maltidevi, and his son Narendra, showed deposits and transfers totaling Rs 65 crore. The enforcement directorate found no evidence linking him to the Madhu Koda financial scam. However, the anti-corruption investigations revealed disproportionately large assets. Despite these assets, Congress kept supporting Kripashankar; it has been suggested that he is close to some aides of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. In March 2011, it was revealed that in 2008–09, Shahid Balwa had channelled Rs 4.5 crores into an account held by Narendra and his wife. In the anti-corruption atmosphere of the time, Kripashankar had to resign. On 22 February 2012, the Bombay High Court directed the city police commissioner to prosecute Kripashankar Singh for “criminal misconduct” under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

Underworld criminal Kashi Pasi and his brother Subhas Pasi played the good cops and bad cops on behalf of Wadhawan’s. One used to create pressure on slum residents to accept the deal and vacate the place others used to negotiate the financial aspect. Kasi was an aide of gangster Chhota Rajan, Kashinath Pashi alias Kashi Pashi, was wanted in a case of criminal intimidation. He was arrested for threatening the management of a cable distribution firm, where he had been formerly employed. Later on, Kasi was killed in Varanasi. And Pashi shifted to Uttar Pradesh and became a politician. As two-time MLA in UP Subhash Pasi created his space in Indian politics and somehow after his brother’s death, he left Mumbai and also Wadhwans. Gradually Kripashankar got irrelevant in politics, so his utility too. Pasi’s family arrived in Mumbai from UP in the early 1960s and both he and his brother grew up on the streets of Jogeshwari, a western Mumbai suburb. In 1989, Pasi joined the Congress as a local party worker, hoping to build his way up. He was much closer to Kripashankar as Kripa was in the state cabinet. Kasi was also closed to Congress leaders like late Sunil Dutt and later his daughter Priya Dutt as part of their campaign strategy. Pasi actively campaigned for them, consumed with the hope that one day; he too, would get to contest from Mumbai. “Despite working for Congress for over 25 years, from ward, block, district to city level, he never got a ticket in Mumbai.

Finally, he left Mumbai and settled in Uttar Pradesh, by the time the 2012 elections came up, Pasi had quit Congress to join the Samajwadi Party. In 2012, as well as in the 2017 Assembly elections, he got elected from the Saidpur assembly seat in Ghazipur district on a Samajwadi Party ticket. The 2007 elections, though a humbling start, became a turning point in his political career. Soon after, he and his wife, Reena Pasi, launched the Akshar Foundation, to return corpses of those who died in Mumbai—by plane and then by ambulance—back to their UP villages. Pasi has rarely been in the news but is nevertheless no stranger to controversy. In 2017, the Juhu police filed an FIR against him and his assistant for duping a police officer of Rs 22.90 lakh on the pretext of selling him an SRA room in Andheri.

Those days, the underworld was taken over slum-rehabilitation projects in Mumbai right under the Mumbai police’s nose. Notorious criminals were handling huge SRA projects worth hundreds of crores in the city. Prakash Surve, with four cases of extortion and grievous assault registered against him at Borivali police station, is currently carrying out three SRA projects in Borivali, Dahisar and Worli. His projects include Adarsh Nagar in Borivali, Shanti Nagar in Dahisar (East), and Gandhinagar in Worli. According to current market rates the projects are worth over Rs 400 crore. From a known underworld figure Surve became a real estate developer overnight and now runs two big construction companies Raj Constructions and Aman Raj Constructions. The builders, cop’s underworld, and politicians became land sharks with the help of each other. Kashi Pasi was handling the slum-rehabilitation project of the Koldongri slums in Andheri. The project involves rehabilitating 2,500 families in an area spread over one lakh square feet. Kashi’s brother Subash looked after the business while his brother Kashi was in jail. The Pasi brothers stand to earn over Rs 100 crore from the sale of FSI. The brothers were also involved with SRA projects in Daulat Nagar in Santacruz, Sambhaji Nagar in Andheri, and Kokan Nagar in Jogeshwari. These projects were each worth over Rs 200 crores. The Pasi brothers, originally from Ghazipur village in UP, used to live in a Chawl in Shankarwadi in Jogeshwari. However, the family stock rose as Kashi ventured into the underworld. Kashi has over two dozen cases of extortion, assault, and rioting registered against him at different police stations in Mumbai and Thane. He was booked under MCOCA for his ties with the Rajan gang six months ago. In the present time, Subhash somehow got an image makeover by joining politics, Kripashankar almost vanished from political corridors, Wadhavan is in jail.

Balasaheb Thorat likely to quit as Maharashtra Congress chief

Congress party is in complete dismay after several party leaders across the state quitting the party over political tussle amongst the party members. And now some reports suggest that Balasaheb Thorat is likely to resign from the post of Maharashtra Congress chief, however no official confirmation has been made by the Congress party or by the minister yet.

Thorat is overburdened with the post of state Congress Chief, CLP leader and as a Cabinet Minister and this is why the leader is likely to tender his resignation from the post of Maharashtra chief, said a close source related to the party. Reportedly, in connection with his resignation on Monday Thorat left for Delhi to meet the Congress leaders.

Recently, Congress president Sonia Gandhi appointed trade union leader Bhai Jagtap as chief of the Mumbai Congress in place of ex-MP Eknath Gaikwad, who had been holding additional charge. On the other hand Charan Singh Sapra, had been appointed working president. This comes ahead of the 2022 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections

After electing Mumbai chief Bhai Jagtap has reportedly announced that the party (Congress) will go alone for BMC elections. His remarks came despite knowing that the Congress is a part of the ruling ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ (MVA) along with Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s National Congress party (NCP) in Maharashtra. Thorat was one of the strong advocates of Congress while forming the MVA govt in the state, currently he is a Revenue Minister.

On the first day of the New Year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth Rs 72 crore belonging to Pravin Raut, brother of Sanjay. Raut in PMC bank loan cheating case, as his wife Madhuri Raut transferred Rs 55 lakh to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut. A senior ED official in Delhi said that the agency has attached the properties of Raut under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED has registered a case of money laundering on the basis of an FIR registered by the Economic Offences wing of Mumbai Police against Housing Development. Infrastructures Ltd (HDIL), Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan, Sarang Wadhawan, Waryam Singh, the then Chairman and Managing Director of the bank Joy Thomas and others for causing loss to the tune of Rs 4,355 crore to PMC Bank and corresponding gain to themselves. Shelar said that he feels friendly advice should be given to Raut on the way he is writing ever since his wife has received ED notices.

The official said that as per the ledger of HDIL, the funds were given to Raut for acquiring land in the Palghar area. He said it was also found that Raut paid an amount of Rs 1.6 crore to his wife Madhuri Raut from the proceeds of the crime. “Out of Rs 1.6 crore, Madhuri Raut transferred Rs 55 lakh as an interest-free loan to Varsha Raut wife of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in 2010 and 2011,” he said.

He further said that the amount was further utilised for the purchase of flats in Mumbai’s Dadar East.

“Investigation further revealed that Varsha Raut and Madhuri Raut are partners in Avani Construction. Varsha Raut received Rs 12 lakh from this entity (as overdrawn capital converted to loan) on a contribution of mere Rs 5,625. The loan amount of Rs 12 lakh is still outstanding,” he said. ED had last week asked Varsha Raut to appear before it on December 29, but she did not appear.

Earlier, several properties of Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan, Wadhawan Family trust, and others totalling to Rs 293 crore have been attached and jewellery worth Rs 63 crore has been seized.

The ED has filed a charge sheet in this case against Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan and others for the offence of money laundering. The official said that during the investigation it was revealed that Rs 95 crore has been siphoned off through HDIL by Raut in active conspiracy and connivance with various persons.

“The source of the funds was illegal availed loans or advances etc by HDIL from PMC Bank. There was no document or agreement in support of these payments made to Raut,” the official said.

India Will Pitch For Vaccines For 30 Crore Individuals

A NITI Aayog member and head of the national Covid-19 task force Dr. Vinod Paul said that the government will inoculate 30 crore individuals belonging to priority groups in the first phase of its vaccination drive. In the next 6-8 months, frontline workers, especially those working in healthcare and the elderly will be targeted in the initial phase of vaccination. He added that 31 hubs had been set up to supply vaccines to 29,000 vaccination points in last-mile delivery.

Dr. Paul said that a lot of preparation has already been instituted throughout the country for the disbursal of Covid-19 vaccines.

“We are working as one team in India – the industry, the government, and the stakeholders. Implementation arms of the government are working in sync with each other. We are on the same page as the industry,” Dr. Paul said.

“India will pitch for vaccines for 300 million individuals,” he said, explaining that healthcare workers nationwide will be targeted in the immediate phase of vaccination. Preparedness for inoculating other groups prioritised by the government is also in its advanced stages, he added further.

“Thirty-one vaccine hubs have been put in place to supply vaccines to 29,000 vaccination points in last-mile delivery,” he said. “We are looking at vaccination efforts as a holistic public health response. We want to minimize deaths related to Covid-19, hence, we chose higher risk groups,” he added.

Dr. Paul assured that stockpiling capacity will rise in the future in order to ensure wider vaccination against Covid-19. “We want to ensure that the entire nation develops herd immunity. The ultimate goal is to stall the spread of the disease for which wider vaccination is required,” he said. Commenting on the Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Covishield vaccine Dr. Paul stated that we were at an inflection point in the approval process. “SEC will look at data from Indian trails and other countries,” The expert panel at the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) today recommended conditional approval of AstraZeneca and Oxford University’s vaccine for emergency use.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan evaluated preparedness for the dry run being held across India today for administering the Covid-19 vaccine.

“The target of this exercise is that minutest details are thoroughly researched. At least 2 vaccines have sent their applications to Drug Controllers and experts for approval, their data are being studied pro-actively. The lists of health workers have been created and will be uploaded on the Covid platform. Just like we prepare during elections, the same way we need to train each member of all medical teams responsibly,” the health minister said during a review meeting with the Delhi government.

This Is How You Can Opt For Your COVID Vaccine

covid-19, vaccine, india, coronavirus, vaccine

The year 2021 has come up with better prospects for India in regards to Controlling COVID-19. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan recently announced that vaccination in its first phase for priority group beneficiaries in all states will be free. The government started with the dry run for Covid-19 vaccination in most of the states. Soon a section of the population will receive their first vaccine shot. Preparation for administering doses at vaccine centres, logistics requirements, and other arrangements are also at full swing. The country’stop drug regulator, DCGI has approved Oxford’s COVID-19 vaccine Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covexin for restricted emergency use. The Health minister already assured that the government will not compromise on any protocol before approving a vaccine, underlining that vaccine hesitancy was an issue even when the country started the polio immunisation drive, but “we must remember its success”. If you desire to opt for the vaccination and want to register yourself for the same then you must know who will get the vaccine first.

According to the recommendations of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 (NEGVAC) one crore, health workers working with both government and private hospitals will be first in the line to be inoculated. The priority group has been further divided into subcategories as frontline workers, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) workers, nurses and supervisors, paramedical staff, medical officers, support staff, and medical students. All the data has been collected from the health care facilities and is being uploaded into Co-WIN, the digitized platform to be used to effectively roll out and scale up the mechanism for Covid Vaccine Distribution System.

Two crore frontline workers employed with central and state Police services, armed forces, civil defence organisation, disaster management, home guard, prison staff, municipal workers, revenue officials working with Covid-19 surveillance and other associated activities. Workers associated with the state government and ministries of defence, urban affairs, housing will also receive the vaccination in the first phase. This group will be further divided into people above the age group of 60 years and people above the age of 50 years with co-morbidities. The latest electoral roll of Assembly or Lok Sabha elections will be used as a reference to identify the population for immunisation. Age will be calculated based on the cut-off date of 1st January 2021 and anyone born on or before 1st January 1971 will fall under this category. States and UTs at their discretion can do priority phasing of vaccine roll out in geographical areas where the infection is high. Population below 50 years of age with associated comorbidities based on the evolving pandemic situation like diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and lung diseases, etc, and finally to the remaining population based on the disease epidemiology and vaccine availability.

Common Service centres need to be utilized for self-registration and identity certification of the general population. The self-registration module will be made available in the later phases of implementation. Individuals can select the method of authentication from the given options, such as biometric: With this demographic details of the individual from name to a permanent address in the Aadhaar card will autofill the platform. OTP Authentication: An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number with an Aadhaar card. If the OTP authentication is successful, the demographic details of the individual as per the Aadhaar will auto-populate. Demographic Authentication: An individual can also enter all demographic details manually i.e. Name, DoB, gender, and select Demo Authentication. A green tick will appear confirming the same.

An individual interested to register will be required to provide a photo identity from, Aadhaar Card, Driving License; Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour; MNREGA Job Card; Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs; PAN Card; Passbook issued by Bank/Post Office; Passport; Pension Document; Service Identity Card issued to employees by Central/State Govt./PSUs/ Public Limited Companies; Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR; Voter ID or Photo identity can either be uploaded on Co-WIN system (in PDF, JPG or PNG file formats) or can be pulled from the existing DigiLocker account of the individual.

Once registered, the date and time will be allocated for vaccination. There will be no spot registration facility and only pre-registered beneficiaries will be allowed to proceed with vaccination. District Collector (DC)/District Magistrate (DM) with the support of the District Immunization Officer will link the sessions sites, vaccinators, supervisors, and beneficiaries and decide the dates and time for conducting the vaccination session. The respective district administration will approve the beneficiaries for session and site allocation. Co-WIN has inbuilt monitoring and reporting mechanisms.

An ideal session site should have three demarcated rooms/areas one is Waiting Room/Area; a second Vaccination Room; and the third is the Observation Room. Every session will be managed by a five-member team with defined responsibilities. The Vaccination Officer would be doing pre-checking registration status of beneficiary and photo ID verification before entering the waiting room/area. Vaccination Officer-1 will be assisting in making queues/ crowd management. Vaccination Officer the In-charge of authenticating/ verifying documents in the Co-WIN system (Health / ICDS / other government departments e.g. election model). And the third officer-in-charge of vaccinating the beneficiaries (Doctors (MBBS / BDS/AYUSH), Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, ANM, and LHV) will inject and monitor the patients. Vaccination Officer 3 and 4 will be in charge of crowd management, ensuring a 30-minute wait, monitoring for any AEFI symptoms, guiding non-registered beneficiaries. Vaccination conducted at the health facilities – both government and private – where either a medical officer or a doctor is available is defined as a fixed session site. Schools and community halls will be outreach session sites while there will be special mobile teams for remote areas or migratory populations and international border areas.

All COVID-19 vaccination sessions will be conducted from 9 am to 5 pm. India on Sunday formally authorised the emergency use of two coronavirus vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, and by Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical firm Bharat Biotech. The decisions mark the first Covid-19 vaccine approvals for the world’s second-most populous country, which after the United States, has recorded the most infections of the coronavirus disease. It is now expected to start a massive immunisation programme within about a week and hopes to inoculate 300 million of its 1.35 billion people free of charge in the first six to eight months of this year. The AstraZeneca/Oxford shot, already approved in Britain, Argentina, and El Salvador, will take the lead and Bharat Biotech’s Covexin will be administered under stricter conditions given no efficacy data has been released for it. Somani said the overall efficacy of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine was 70.42%, while Bharat Biotech’s COVEXIN was “safe and provides a robust immune response”. The British-developed AstraZeneca/Oxford shot is being made locally by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and will be branded COVISHIELD, while Bharat Biotech has teamed up with the government-run Indian Council of Medical Research.

The government has already been holding nationwide drills ahead of the mass inoculation drive and 96,000 health workers have been trained to administer the shots. Both vaccines will be administered in two doses and stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius (36 to 48°F), he said, without clarifying the intervals between the shots. A Reuters report quoted sources as saying that the doses would have to be given four weeks apart. The AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine, which was granted its first approval by Britain on Tuesday, is cheaper and easier to use than some rival shots. The British shot, however, has been plagued by uncertainty about its most effective dosage ever since data published in November showed a half dose followed by a full dose had a 90% success rate, while two full shots were 62% effective.
