Mehul Choksi Nabbed in Belgium: Is India's Most Wanted Fugitive Finally Coming Home? 4

Absconding billionaire Mehul Choksi, a prime accused in the ₹13,000 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) loan fraud case, has been arrested in Belgium following a formal extradition request from Indian authorities. The arrest, which took place on Saturday, marks a major breakthrough in the high-profile banking scam that rocked India in 2018.

Choksi, who fled India in 2018 and was living in Antigua, was recently traced to Belgium under the pretext of seeking medical treatment. Following the withdrawal of his Interpol Red Notice, Indian agencies have been pursuing his extradition through diplomatic and legal channels.

Sources confirm that at least two open-ended arrest warrants issued by a special Mumbai court in 2018 and 2021 were submitted to Belgian authorities as part of the ongoing extradition effort. Indian agencies are now preparing formal documentation to counter any bail plea Choksi might file on health grounds.

Alongside his nephew Nirav Modi, Choksi is accused of orchestrating a massive bank fraud through his firm Gitanjali Gems, allegedly in collusion with corrupt bank officials. According to investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), they fraudulently obtained 165 Letters of Undertaking (LoUs) and 58 Foreign Letters of Credit (FLCs) from PNB’s Brady House branch in Mumbai without proper documentation or margin.

These fraudulent LoUs enabled Choksi’s companies to secure massive credit from international branches of several Indian banks, including SBI Frankfurt, Axis Bank Hong Kong, and Canara Bank Manama, among others. When his companies failed to repay, PNB was forced to settle over ₹6,344 crore, including interest, to these banks.

The CBI has filed two charge sheets and the ED three prosecution complaints against Choksi. Assets worth ₹2,565.90 crore have been attached and are now approved for monetization by the court.

Meanwhile, Nirav Modi continues to remain lodged in a UK prison since 2019, contesting extradition to India in the same case. With Choksi’s arrest, pressure mounts on the Indian government to bring both fugitives to justice and recover public funds lost in one of the country’s largest banking scams.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Slams Congress: Has the INDIA Bloc Vanished into Thin Air? 6

In a sharp critique published in its mouthpiece Saamana, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday demanded answers from the Congress regarding the current status of the INDIA bloc, questioning its conspicuous absence from discussions at the party’s recent Ahmedabad session. The editorial expressed disappointment that the Congress chose to focus solely on itself, with no mention of the opposition alliance or its future after the Lok Sabha elections.

“Where does the INDIA bloc stand post-elections? Has it been buried or disappeared into thin air?” the editorial asked, holding Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge responsible for offering clarity. The Sena (UBT) also sought to know the Congress’s plan for upcoming state elections in Bihar, Gujarat, and West Bengal, warning that continuing to ignore alliance partners like AAP and TMC could pave the way for BJP victories.

The editorial questioned the utility of the Congress session held on April 8–9 in Gujarat—a state where the party has remained out of power for two decades and managed to win only one Lok Sabha seat since 2014. It further urged the Congress to focus on states like Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh while introspecting its assembly poll debacle in Maharashtra, where internal conflicts and BJP’s scams contributed to its downfall.

Shiv Sena (UBT) emphasized that the Congress must take charge of the opposition’s fight against “dictatorship” but warned that any strategy involving contesting against INDIA bloc allies would be counterproductive. Referring to the Congress-AAP split in the Delhi assembly polls, it said such missteps only strengthen the BJP.

“We have to defeat the BJP, not our friends,” the Sena (UBT) concluded, hinting that a cohesive alliance strategy is crucial if the opposition aims to present a serious challenge in the upcoming state and national elections.

SC Slams Governors’ Delay, Sets 3-Month Deadline for President to Act on Reserved Bills

In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court has for the first time laid down a strict timeline for the President of India to decide on bills reserved for her consideration by state governors, mandating a decision within three months of receiving such references. The apex court’s decision came just days after it declared the Tamil Nadu Governor’s move to reserve 10 bills for the President’s assent as “illegal and erroneous in law.”

The detailed 415-page judgment, uploaded late Friday night, not only reprimanded the delay tactics of governors but also stated that governors are constitutionally bound to act on the aid and advice of the state’s Council of Ministers. The court noted that there is no concept of a “pocket veto” or “absolute veto” available to the President or the Governor under Articles 200 and 201 of the Constitution.

Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan, who delivered the verdict on April 8, declared that if the President fails to act within three months, reasons for the delay must be recorded and communicated to the state. Moreover, states are also expected to cooperate with the Centre by providing information and responses promptly.

The bench was critical of Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi, asserting that he acted in bad faith by indefinitely delaying assent to bills, and then reserving them for the President’s consideration following a prior Supreme Court directive. The court made it clear that this was a roadblock to the legislative process and cannot be allowed under the constitutional framework.

The court emphasized that after a bill is reconsidered and presented again by the state legislature, the governor is required to grant assent within a month. Similarly, in cases where the governor chooses to withhold assent or refer the bill to the President contrary to ministerial advice, such action must also happen within three months.

In a strong move, the court invoked its extraordinary powers under Article 142 to deem the 10 Tamil Nadu bills as having received assent and directed copies of the judgment to be sent to all high courts and principal secretaries to governors across India.

This judgment marks a significant step toward curbing arbitrary delays by constitutional authorities and reinforces the accountability of both the Governor and the President in the law-making process of states.

Sanatan Sanstha: Let the Shankhnaad Echo Across Every Village, City, and Heart 9

In an age where the very identity of Bharat is under relentless assault—culturally, spiritually, and ideologically—Sanatan Sanstha stands as a divine citadel guarding the eternal flame of Hindutva. Not merely an organisation but a sacred movement, Sanatan Sanstha has, for the past 25 years, been the beacon for all seekers of Dharma, guiding lost souls back to the profound embrace of Sanatan Dharma, which is not just a religion but the very soul of this sacred land.

Founded by His Holiness Dr Jayant Athavale—an enlightened saint, revolutionary guide, and visionary psychiatrist—the Sanstha emerged from the realisation that no modern science could offer the depth of healing and transformation that the spiritual remedies of Sanatan Dharma could. Dr Athavale, through tireless research and deep spiritual introspection, decoded the very Science of Spirituality, revealing that ailments of the body and mind often originate in the soul. Where medicine failed, divine name chanting and spiritual practice succeeded. This discovery was not just a revelation—it was a divine calling, a Shankhnaad to awaken the sleeping conscience of Bharatvarsha.

Sanatan Sanstha’s foundation was laid on the blessings of His Holiness Sadguru Bhaktaraj Maharaj, a rare ascetic who, through penance on the banks of the sacred Narmada, lit the path for seekers with bhajans that echoed divinity and a compassion that mirrored the gods. Inspired by him, Dr Athavale renounced the comforts of worldly acclaim and dedicated himself to re-establishing Dharma through the powerful tools of Sadhana, Seva, and Satkarma.

The mission is unapologetically clear: To declare Bharat as a Hindu Rashtra. This is not a political ambition—it is the civilisational necessity. For if Bharat loses Sanatan Dharma, it ceases to be Bharat. This land was never just a stretch of territory—it is Punyabhoomi, the Tapobhoomi of countless Rishis, Munis, and Avatars. The soil of Bharat is soaked with the sacrifices of Sanatani warriors, sages, saints, and martyrs who upheld the flag of Dharma even in the darkest ages. Sanatan Sanstha is here to remind every Hindu—this land belongs to us. This culture is ours. This Dharma is eternal.

With divine clarity and structured spiritual practice known as Gurukrupayoga—a harmonious union of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Jnana Yoga—the Sanstha has ushered in a renaissance of the soul. This path, rooted in humility, discipline, and surrender to the Guru, elevates the seeker not just individually (vyashti sadhana) but also contributes to collective upliftment (samashti sadhana). When the devotee purifies his mind, God manifests through him. When society purifies its character, Dharma reawakens in the nation. This is the sacred synergy Sanatan Sanstha strives to create—where spiritual purity births national resurgence.

The 25th-year celebration of Sanatan Sanstha is not just an anniversary—it is a Rashtra Shankhnaad Mahotsav, a divine proclamation that Hindus will no longer be apologetic about their faith. This conch-blowing from Goa is a celestial call to awaken every Sanatani heart, to rise in unity, in pride, and in dharmic responsibility. It is the sound of a new sunrise—of Dharma reclaiming its throne in Bharat.

Through its publication arm Sanatan Prabhat and countless spiritual texts in Marathi, Hindi, English, and Kannada, the Sanstha has preserved the unaltered wisdom of our sages while countering the toxic narratives that aim to dilute our identity. Through satsangs, seva initiatives, medical camps, disaster relief, temple restoration, and sanskar-infusing education for children, Sanatan Sanstha weaves together the practical with the profound.

Every initiative of this divine institution stems from one core belief: Hindu Dharma is supreme. Hindutva is non-negotiable. Bharat is the sacred homeland of Hindus. The time has come for every son and daughter of Dharma to stand shoulder to shoulder, to remove the stains of centuries of invasion, and to herald the age of Dharma Rajya.

His Holiness Dr Athavale, at 83, continues to lead with the aura of a sage and the determination of a karmayogi. He has not merely founded an organisation—he has birthed a revolution that will echo across generations. Sanatan Sanstha is not just preserving traditions—it is resurrecting the soul of Bharat. This is not just a call to attend a Mahotsav. It is a call to awaken, to act, and to arise. The battle is not outside—it is within. And through Sadhana, Shakti, and Shraddha, Sanatan Sanstha leads the charge to reclaim Hindu Rashtra—not as a concept, but as the living destiny of Bharat.

Let the Shankhnaad echo across every village, city, and heart—Hindutva above all. Bharat belongs to Hindus. Sanatan Dharma shall prevail.

Sukhbir Singh Badal Returns as Shiromani Akali Dal President Despite Religious Controversy 11

Sukhbir Singh Badal was re-elected as president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) during the party’s general delegate session held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall within the Sri Darbar Sahib complex in Amritsar on Saturday. His nomination was proposed by working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar and seconded by senior leader Paramjit Singh Sarna.

The session saw attendance from top party figures, including Badal’s wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, senior leaders Bikram Singh Majithia, Daljit Singh Cheema, and Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal.

Badal had stepped down from the president’s post on November 16, 2024, after the Akal Takht declared him tankhaiya—guilty of religious misconduct—for the actions of the SAD-led government from 2007 to 2017. His resignation was formally accepted in January, following which the party launched a fresh membership drive before the leadership election.

Despite the past controversies, Badal’s unopposed return signals his continued stronghold over the party’s leadership and direction.

26/11 Mastermind Tahawwur Rana Lands in NIA Net: 18-Day Custody Begins in High-Security Probe 17

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday secured 18-day custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, following his extradition from the United States. The agency aims to interrogate Rana in-depth to unearth the entire conspiracy behind the brutal 2008 attacks that left 166 dead and over 238 injured.

Rana was produced before the NIA Special Court at Patiala House in New Delhi after his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday evening. He was formally arrested and later escorted under heavy security—led by Delhi Police SWAT teams—to the NIA headquarters at the CGO Complex, where he will remain in a high-security cell.

In a statement, the NIA said Rana’s detailed interrogation is crucial to exposing the full extent of the plot that led to the deadly assault on Mumbai. His extradition follows years of diplomatic efforts and legal battles, including the dismissal of his final plea by the US Supreme Court.

The extradition was the result of coordinated efforts by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs, working alongside American authorities. Rana was flown from Los Angeles to New Delhi on a special flight accompanied by senior NIA and NSG officials.

This major breakthrough marks a significant step forward in India’s pursuit of justice for the victims of one of the worst terror attacks in its history.

More Than a Power Couple: The Unbreakable Bond of Michelle and Barack Obama

More Than a Power Couple: The Unbreakable Bond of Michelle and Barack Obama 19

In a world that constantly watches, speculates, and at times intrudes, Michelle and Barack Obama have stood tall as one of the most powerful, resilient, and admired couples in American history. Their union, which spans over 32 years, is not just a marriage but a symbol of balance between love, ambition, service, and strength. Together, they’ve not only raised two remarkable daughters but also carried the weight of a nation’s expectations with grace and authenticity.

Michelle Obama, a woman of immense intellect and unwavering integrity, has always been a force unto herself. An independent thinker, a deeply grounded individual, and a woman of unshakeable values, she has never needed a spotlight to shine. A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School, she built her own path in the legal and nonprofit world long before stepping onto the global stage. As a young attorney at Sidley Austin, she met a promising intern named Barack Obama. What began as professional mentorship evolved into one of the most iconic partnerships of our time. Though they were different—he, introspective and idealistic; she, pragmatic and driven—they came together through shared purpose and mutual respect.

Michelle’s contributions as First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017 were not ornamental—they were transformative. She launched nationwide initiatives like Let’s Move!, Let Girls Learn, Reach Higher, and Joining Forces, reshaping dialogues around health, education, military families, and female empowerment. She took on the role not just with poise but with a mission — to uplift others, especially women and girls, and to challenge the norms that once tried to confine her. Her speeches, presence, and advocacy weren’t just politically significant; they were emotionally resonant, speaking directly to hearts across the globe.

Through it all, the Obamas were never just an image of perfection. They were—and are—real. Michelle has always been candid about the challenges in their marriage, especially during the taxing years of Barack’s presidency. In her bestselling memoir Becoming, she opened a window into the emotional weight she carried—moments of loneliness, exhaustion, and deep introspection. They weren’t immune to the friction of work-life balance, arguments, or moments of drifting. But what made their story compelling was not perfection—it was persistence. The commitment to “date nights”, to communication, and to holding on when things got hard—that’s where their strength lay.

In recent times, when rumours of separation began to swirl, sparked by Michelle’s absence from a few public events, tabloids and social media ran wild with speculation. Her non-appearance at occasions such as former President Donald Trump’s second inauguration or the funeral of President Jimmy Carter became fodder for gossip, fuelling headlines about possible divorce proceedings. But Michelle, ever composed and commanding, finally addressed the noise — and in doing so, reminded the world of what true personal power looks like.

In an interview that silenced the frenzy, she spoke openly about choosing herself, her well-being, and her time. After decades of carrying immense public responsibility, she is now in a chapter where she can breathe, reflect, and prioritise—not just as a former First Lady, but as Michelle, the woman, the mother, the wife. Her daughters are grown, and with that shift comes the gift of re-evaluating life. She made it clear that her reduced public visibility was not a sign of discontent but rather an act of self-care and conscious living. And yes, her family—her marriage—remains a central, sacred part of her life.

Even as she steps back from some of the political limelight, Michelle remains deeply engaged with the causes close to her heart—from girls’ education to advocacy work and public service. She continues to speak, to inspire, to write, and to lead. Her voice, deliberate and strong, still shapes conversations on what it means to be a woman of substance in today’s world.

The whispers of divorce never aligned with the legacy of love, struggle, and growth that Michelle and Barack Obama have shared in plain view for over three decades. Her clarification wasn’t just a rebuttal to rumours—it was a profound message to anyone watching: prioritising yourself, your peace, and your family isn’t retreat—it’s power.

Michelle Obama remains a pillar of strength, grace, and authenticity—a role model not just for her titles or accolades, but for her humanity. In her, countless women see the possibility of being everything—intelligent, strong, nurturing, assertive, and deeply self-aware. In Barack, we see a man who admires and supports his partner with unwavering respect. Together, they have weathered storms, grown through challenges, and emerged not just intact—but extraordinary.

They are not just America’s power couple—they are a beacon of hope, resilience, and truth in an often chaotic world.
