In a significant development, former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody amidst grave charges of rape and sexual abuse against him. On Monday, the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court made this decision, concluding his earlier Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody.
Revanna was previously held by the SIT on May 31, right after his arrival at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport from Germany. During their detention, the SIT conducted an extensive review, gathering critical evidence, and interviewing witnesses related to the case.
The 33-year-old politician, who missed retaining his seat in the Hassan constituency, now faces serious consequences as the court, weighing the evidence from the SIT, deemed it fit to extend his custody. This comes after explicit video evidence surfaced, allegedly linking Revanna to sexual offenses ahead of the recent Lok Sabha polls.
