The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Tuesday reportedly announced Praveen Rana as the replacement for Narsingh Yadav at the Rio Olympics in the 74 kg freestyle category, in case Yadav fails to get a clean chit from NADA disciplinary committee.
Freestyle wrestler Rana had earlier won a gold medal in the 74kg category at the Dave Schultz Memorial wrestling tournament in USA in 2014.
26-year-old Narsingh had tested positive for banned anabolic steroid methandienone which has put his participation in the Rio Games under jeopardy. The sportsman has alleged that he was framed by rivals, who spiked his food and supplements.
