The excellent piece on the other tombs of Agra (Voice Feb 9, 18) was very well-written and renewed my interest for re-visiting this historic place of immense importance for tourism. Our country is indeed fortunate to have such important historical relics which attract travellers in droves from all over the world. It is highly imperative that the state government and its various agencies and departments work in a concerted manner to not only safeguard and promote the various architectural marvels dating back to the Mughal era so that Agra continues to retain its premier position as an important tourist destination. Political leanings, prejudices and beliefs should not be allowed to become unnecessary stumbling blocks in propagating Agra in the right perspective for both domestic as well as international tourists. It is heartening to note that the apex court has directed the state govt to submit a vision plan for the Taj Mahal within a specific time-frame.
