Raj is not capable as a CM

After miserable defeat to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in 2014 General Elections, its chief Raj Thackeray declared his candidature for the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s post and said he would contest the upcoming state assembly elections. Whether he wins or loses time will decide but he is definitely not capable as a Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Raj will be the first member of the Thackeray family to contest elections. While all these years, Uddhav and Balasaheb Thackeray were kingmakers and remained as remote controls in Maharashtra politics. According to MNS sources, Raj is likely to contest from two seats — Dadar-Mahim in Mumbai and Nashik — both are party’s strongholds. He will reveal details of his plan through a series of public meetings. The MNS which contested 10 seats in the Lok Sabha polls faced a disastrous defeat where it lost on all seats and even lost its deposits. He slammed his party office bearers saying many of them ‘hung their boots’ during the Lok Sabha polls.

Nitin Gadkari had requested Raj Thackeray not to contest polls to avoid split of anti-Congress votes. Shiv Sena had openly expressed its discontent about the meeting then. The meeting with Raj Thackeray was not taken in good taste and has strained ties with Shiv Sena, which is an old partner of the party in Maharashtra. However, later Modi made up by conducting rally with Uddhav in Maharashtra. Another key point is that during Maharashtra Assembly elections, NCP wants to lead because its performance is much better than Congress in General Elections and they don’t want to contest under Congress Party. Reality is that, Raj Thackeray’s influence does not go beyond Mumbai-Nashik-Pune belt and this too is waning. Furthermore, Raj Thackeray’s role in the previous Assembly elections was that of a spoiler and this time he was even more flopped. So, nothing has really changed except Raj Thackeray’s lip-loyalty towards Narendra Modi. Raj Thackeray desperately wanted to grab political centre-stage in Maharashtra. Gadkari provided Raj Thackeray an opportunity to enjoy political limelight, either wittingly or unwittingly. Even Gadkari have rivals in the Maharashtra BJP and the most enmity is with Munde faction. Raj Thackeray is smarter than these leaders, so without coming in trap, he declared support to Modi and contested elections. Political parties are formed to contest the election and nobody forced them to stay away from the election. It is the right of every political party to go for the election. BJP might have even tried dragging Raj Thackeray into the NDA, but he has denied the invitation.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena needs to have good issues to sustain in Maharashtra politics. MNS needs grassroot level leaders and development issues. NCP has already eaten the political scope of every party in the state. Its leaders like Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal or anyone else have command over gram panchayat to parliament. Competing with NCP should be the goal of MNS. By doing their mimicry and screaming will not give anything much to Raj’s party in Maharashtra. Incessant destructiveness by MNS to force their points of views on others will act as potential road blocks for their specific selective political survival. Why MNS vandalise offices, thrash people around, create ruckus? Not even a single volunteer has gone to the drought hit regions and helped the victims out. Raj Thackeray’s goondagiri has no place in Democracy. People should vote for him, if they want to be regret for next 5 years. First let his party show discipline and do social service instead of vandalising people. In all his speeches, Raj gives figures and facts which are not his but taken from prominent newspapers. Anybody can challenge them. Hindi and English channels only provide that information which suit their interest and increase their TRPs. They should be fair in giving word to word interpretation. The worst part is non-Maharashtrians are not able to interpret the information which is provided in the speech which leaves local people dumb-founded and speechless. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is a regional party in the state of Maharashtra in India.

Except a certain chumk of Marathi Manoos, Raj is not largely accepted by the people of this state. Moreover, his inefficiency to function has created uncomfortable situations in Mumbai. Lets see what would be the mandate of people if Raj decides to contest. One thing is for sure, he will not be the Chief Minister of this state.
