Gayatri Prajapati AVThe Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday night failed to get hold of Gayatri Prajapati, the controversial minister accused of rape, when it searched two of his official residences in Gautam Palli and Vidhyak Niwas on Park Road at Hazaratganj in Lucknow on the orders of the Supreme Court.

“A police team had gone to his official residence in Lucknow. It’s part of the investigation. The minister was not found there. We have sent teams to Amethi also,” a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
Mr. Prajapati was last seen campaigning in Amethi, where he is the Samajwadi Party candidate for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh election.

Police sources say that Prajapati will be arrested as soon as he is tracked down. Two police teams have left for Amethi to look for Prajapati. Amethi is his assembly constituency where he was seen moving freely from one place to other to seek votes.

UP Police team including the lady IO of the case will be visiting AIIMS, Delhi on Thursday, to record the statement of the victim girl.

“As of now, we have to record his statements but if he continues to evade the police, we will have to go for other options,”said Manzil Saini, SSP, not ruling out the possibilities of investigators approaching the court for a formal warrant against him.

Sources said, police have also collected the call detail record (CDR) of Prajapti’s cellphone to trace his movements.
