Women’s Day has no meaning in our country where the fair sex is abused every day of the year in cases of domestic violence at home, at workplace by people in authoritative positions and in the society where cases of rapes as well as molestations are on the rise. Celebrating ‘Women’s Day’ for a single day is not what the society needs and the government should come up with tough laws so that the fair sex is not just protected but respected as well. We are all thankful for our existence to a woman who has to undergo many sacrifices in life. She is both the homemaker as well as the breadwinner in many homes for which she deserves appreciation each minute of her existence. A land which has seen great and powerful leaders like Sarojini Naidu, Indira Gandhi, Rani Lakshmibai and their tribe, it is a sorry state that women are struggling in today’s time of cruelty and violence. Respecting women is the best gift one can give to the fair sex which is far more worthwhile than any monetary rewards or awards.
