Team selection poses a problem always in India to fullfill the quota of players on regional basis. This time the selections is for the one off test match against minnows Bangladesh and still we persisted with seniors like Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay. The only redeeming feature of the team selection was the recall of Wriddhiman Saha as wicket keeper and Mukund as an opener after six years. We have tried several openers at the opening slot and most of them failed to put up decent start despite the team being number one in the world. Mukund last played in West Indies and he may find the going tough. But in all probability both Murali Vijay and Rahul will open and Mukund will be warming up the benches like Amit Mishra. Parthiv Patel, who played a prominent part in helping Gujarat winning the Ranji Trophy and played well in patches as an opener against a formidable English attack is ignored. When both Ashwin and Jadeja are playing why there is need for Amit Mishra. In all team selection was totally farce.
