Shashank Manohar resigned from the post of the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Manohar took over as chief in October 2015 after Dalmiya’s death. This was Manohar’s second term as BCCI president. He had taken this decision as a mark of his protest against the recommendations of the RM Lodha committee.

Sources had earlier revealed that that Manohar believed the recommendations made by committee were impossible to implement. However, Anurag Thakur said that Shashank Manohar resigned because candidate for ICC president post must be independent member.

Manohar is likely to continue as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). According to sources, politician and Mumbai Cricket Association president Sharad Pawar is reportedly set to return as the BCCI boss.
