In a resolute statement, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Monday underscored her party’s confidence that the upcoming Lok Sabha election results will defy the projections made in the exit polls. ‘We have to wait, just wait and see,’ she remarked, expressing hope that the results would starkly contrast with the current predictions.
Gandhi’s remarks were made after attending an event at the DMK office to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of DMK stalwart M Karunanidhi. She used the platform to pay tributes and reflect on her interactions with Karunanidhi, lauding his wisdom and advice over the years.
Her statements come amidst a wave of exit polls forecasting a decisive victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led NDA, with predictions of over 350 seats. However, the Congress and its allies have dismissed these forecasts as ‘fantasy,’ asserting their belief in securing victory and forming the next government.
